to Abilene Christian University’s Sing Song!
Whatever words you use to describe “Wild at Heart,” those words define us as unique personalities. We want to be individuals, but still … we want to be part of something bigger. As we discover where we fit in this world, we may learn unexpected lessons. Sometimes we feel heartache and pain. Other times, life is pure excitement. We may lose what we love, but we may gain more than imagined. At some point, we hope to realize we’re part of something greater – something that calls to our hearts with amazing love. Above all, we discover God is in control. We want to share our excitement and share the joy we find. For all things that we learn to be good, we always want to be Wild at Heart!
For the 56th consecutive year, ACU students have come together in February to sing, and we’re excited that one-third of our student body participates in Sing Song in some way. This is where memories are made. Partly because of a friendly competition, but more so because students come together and have fun while making a monumental show happen. As groups strive to create the best song medley, Sing Song has grown to be one of our richest traditions. We’re happy you are our guests! We hope your experience is great; and when you leave, we hope you tell others of this unique experience that binds us together. Tom Craig (’89) Director of Student Activities and Productions

Special Message Many hands create Sing Song each year. We are especially grateful for the support of a grant from the Abilene Cultural Affairs Council, the City of Abilene and the Texas Commission on the Arts.
Our Promise
ACU is a vibrant, innovative, Christ-centered community that engages students in authentic spiritual and intellectual growth, equipping them to make a real difference in the world. 110925-0212
Our amazingly talented students have many venues for showing their creativity, but perhaps no other event each school year showcases them like Sing Song. When Dr. Robert D. Hunter came up with the idea for Sing Song in the mid-1950s, he knew how much our students loved to sing and perform on stage. In the 56 years since, this event has become a cornerstone among ACU’s many traditions, engaging significant numbers of students in teamwork and friendly competition; displaying the energy and enthusiasm of our university; and attracting thousands of parents, alumni and other friends to Abilene to enjoy the show. This also is a weekend when many future students choose to visit campus, and it is an honor to host these special guests. Enjoy your time with us and know that you are always welcome at Abilene Christian! Dr. Phil Schubert (’91) President

One of the most significant changes in Sing Song since it began in 1956 has been how on-stage transitions are handled while club and class acts enter and exit the stage. In the early days, an emcee talked between acts. In the 1960s, emcees started to sing and banter back and forth. Eventually, the singing grew to include the performance of complete songs. By the 1970s, hosts and hostesses were key elements to the show’s success. 4
jocelyn groves Jocelyn, a junior biology major from Lubbock, has been a part of Sing Song since her freshman year. She also has served as a Freshman senator, Welcome Week peer leader, member of University Chorale and the Honors College, and she is intramural director for her social club, Sigma Theta Chi. She is the daughter of Terry (’77) and Marty (Shipp ’77) Groves.
corinne morris Corinne is a junior electronic media major from Abilene. She began performing in Sing Song as a freshman with GATA women’s social club, and served as its assistant director last year. She sings with ACU’s Pulse A Cappella group and the praise team at Southern Hills Church of Christ. She is the daughter of Ric (’86) and Dr. Michelle (Murphy ’87) Morris.
seth womack Seth, a junior musical theatre major from Justin, was Lun Tha in ACU’s production of The King and I. He also has had featured roles in The Pirates of Penzance and Titanic at ACU. In Abilene, he was in Paramount Productions’ The Drowsy Chaperone. This is Seth’s first time on the Sing Song stage. He is the son of George and Robin Womack.
isaac wright Isaac is a junior exercise science and health major from Abilene. He has been performing in Sing Song with Trojans men’s social club since his freshman year. Along with being a Trojan, Isaac was in Freshman Follies and he sings with ACU’s Pulse A Cappella group. He is the son of Dr. Odies (’72) and Kathie Wright.
chris randell Chris, a senior marketing major from Abilene, has been performing on campus since his first year in Freshman Follies, including his class Sing Song acts. He has served as a Welcome Week peer leader and mentor group leader, and he sings with ACU’s Pulse A Cappella group. He is the son of Dr. David and Rosemary Randell.
