Promuove lo stile e la tradizione dell’ospitalità italiana, assicura serietà e professionalità, offre un’accoglienza unica per chi sa cogliere i segni della storia e dell’arte che i secoli hanno impresso nei luoghi. Abitare la Storia è recupero, difesa e valorizzazione del patrimonio culturale e paesaggistico italiano. Gli associati ad Abitare la Storia, siano essi alberghi, residenze d’epoca, ristoranti, o centri per convegni, si trovano in edifici di suggestiva bellezza architettonica e paesaggistica, questo permette al viandante di avere sempre un’accoglienza assolutamente particolare, irripetibile, diversa in ogni struttura. L’amore e la dedizione di “proprietari-gestori” per luoghi che, in molti casi da secoli, sono abitati dai discendenti della stessa famiglia, fanno parte integrante della professionalità e cura nell’accogliere l’ospite. Founded in 1995, Abitare la Storia is a non-profit-making association of independent accommodation facilities in historical dwellings for tourists, both in towns and countryside settings, covering the whole of the Italian territory. It is a declaration of the style and traditions of Italian hospitality, a guarantee of reliability and professionalism, welcoming those in search of the traces of history and art that past centuries have left imprinted on these places. Abitare la Storia means protection and enhancement of the cultural heritage and landscape conservation of the Italian country. The houses belonging to Abitare la Storia, either they are hotels, restaurants, historical residences or congress centres, are located exclusively in buildings of striking architectural and scenic beauty. Each house offers a unique experience and the warmest welcome. In addition, guests cannot fail to appreciate the enthusiasm of the ownermanagers whose devotion to their work is an integral part of their professionalism. Abitare la Storia also proposes a series of itineraries which link the various associate properties, following backroads still undiscovered by the majority of tourists. It aims at promoting the many marvellous artistic, scenic, gastronomic and oenological treasures that Italy has to offer, those which, until now, have not received the due respect and attention they deserve. When choosing a vacation or a meeting in a house of Abitare la Storia, one experiences a new way of being a tourist. It means to live the present discovering the fascinating phases of history.

Nel cuore del centro storico di Moneglia, ridente cittadina della Riviera di Levante, a mezza strada tra il Parco Nazionale delle 5 Terre e il celeberrimo porticciolo di Portofino, sorge un palazzo patrizio genovese, risalente al XV° secolo e situato a due passi dalle spiagge sabbiose del borgo. Senza dubbio uno degli edifici più significativi del paese, rimasto miracolosamente intatto dai bombardamenti della seconda guerra mondiale, fu abitato per secoli dalla Famiglia Marengo, fino a che, alla fine del XIX° secolo, costituì la dote offerta dal Cav. Fabio Marengo alla figlia Oliva in occasione del suo matrimonio col futuro Ammiraglio Gerolamo BOLLO che vi elesse la propria residenza. è interessante osservare che il secondo piano del palazzo, sede del B&B gestito dal Nipote dell’Ammiraglio, che vi abita, fosse già in origine destinato a ricevere gli Amici che venivano, ospiti della

In the heart of the historic center of Moneglia, a charming town on the Genoa’s Riviera di Levante, halfway between the National Park of 5 Terre and the famous harbor of Portofino, stands a patrician palace, dating from the fifteenth century, few yards away from the sandy beaches of the village. Doubtless one of the most significant buildings of the locality, miraculously untouched by the bombings of World War II, it has been for centuries the home of the Marengo Family. Then, at the end of the nineteenth century, it formed the dowry offered by Cav. Fabio Marengo to his daughter Oliva when she married the future admiral Gerolamo BOLLO, who chose it as main residence. It is not trivial to note that the second floor of the building, where actually is the B & B owned by the grandson of the admiral, who lives there, was originally intended to receive the Friends who came and visited the family, to spend some weeks in Moneglia during the summer. An ancestor of modern B&B! The apartment, wrapped in a luxurious ambience of past times, in its spacious rooms with frescoed ceilings, paintings of the authors of the ‘600 Genoese (the “Golden Age”) at its walls and antique furniture, has nevertheless all the modern comforts and offers a standing comparable to that of a 5 star hotel.
