Curious and wanderers, with many miles traveled and unforgettable experiences lived, now they want to share it. With a rich and varied gastronomy, Europe is the perfect place for those who want to experience tasty dishes that demonstrate its enormous culture. The European cuisine fascinates by its refinement, simplicity and the mixture of strong and characteristic ingredients, which become even more special when accompanied by the greats wines from each region. In Germany we have around 1500 types of sausages and the famous sauerkraut, in Austria we have divine desserts, in Spain the churros and paellas, in Portugal the extraordinary codfish and one of the world's best fish, in Italy we have a huge variety of pasta, pizza and sauces, and in France we can find an elegant and fine cuisine. This is just to mention a few wonders!

PACKING WITH NO STRESS! YES, IT DOES EXIST :) After so much time waiting, endless conversations and plans, thousands of photos and websites seen on the internet, and a lot of nights imagining places and colors and smells, the day of departure for the journey is arrived! We want to help, giving valuable tips for the important time to pack. Without despair, because the expectation is already enough…

1.The

documents: make a list of all you need as passport, documents, guides. It is better to put it all together, it saves up energy and time and avoids delays at the time of leaving home.

2. On boad: wear jeans on the trip because they are

comfortable in the car, in the train, in the bus and in the airplane. And speaking about airplanes… on long flights, those that last a lifetime and it looks like we got to the destination one week after we left home, do not forget a bag with toothbrush and toothpaste, toiletries and, SUPER IMPORTANT - because as you know the planes turn in the North Pole - a pair of warm socks, we guarantee that this detail will make you feel wooooonderful, believe us!

Clothing: think in a practical way. Try, at least. Pants, shirt and scarf. Skirt and top. Dress. If you organize the clothes like this, it will be easier to remove them from suitcase and you will dress up faster. It's also a good way to avoid things you don’t need... A pair of jeans is enough for the journey, to go and return. Do not be tempted to take a second pair, they will not be used!

4. Clothing, Part 2: select your favorite things, such as THAT coat and THAT beautiful dress that suits you perfectly. Take them to travel with you, they deserve. Without blinking.

5. AND NOWâ&#x20AC;Ś the clothes, Part 3: depending on the destination, for cooler evenings, a jacket and a thin sweater, neutral colors, are sufficient. Travelling to cold places, A good coat is good. And A pair of gloves. And A warm scarf. Anything more than that will not leave the suitcase. It is guaranteed. It will only make weight. And tears when carrying the suitcase. 6. Backpacks and wallets: a small and nice bag or a backpack to use during the day, and an elegant clutch bag for the night. That's all. Yup.

7. The shoes: the hardest thing

of all! ONLY two pairs of shoes in your bag: beyond some comfortable shoes for the flight or the road trip, take just other pair or shoes or some elegant sandals. For cold places replace the sandals by A pair of boots. 8.Accessories: neutral colors, few. They weigh a lot and just one or two will see the daylightâ&#x20AC;Ś

9. Personal use: despite the inevitable tip to use shampoo and bath gel in small packs, you should take the creams and perfumes that are a part of your day. Sometimes when we're far away from our comfort zone it is important that something connects us to what we are, and this can happen coma smell or a texture. Abuse of these little cares.

Situated in Reguengos de Monsaraz, Herdade do Esporão is a place that exudes history. Its roots date back to the pre-historic times of megalithic cultures and the Bronze Age. However, even during the roman occupation, the wines of the Esporão settlement were exported throughout the Empire. At the heart of this estate, and in the scorching Alentejo heat, we find the Esporão Fortified Enclosure, which includes the Nossa Senhora dos Remédios Chapel and a curious fortified gate, with a winding staircase that leads up to the ramparts. Acquired in the 19th century by the family of Eugénio de Almeida, the Adega Cartuxa (Cartuxa Winery) has undergone various renovations and extensions over the years, but never at the cost of its rich history and architecture. Adega Cartuxa – Quinta de Valbom is now the cellar for aging wines produced by the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation. The success of this winegrowing venture generates the necessary funds to allow the Foundation to fulfill its mission of social, cultural and educational development in the region.

The Douro Valley is located in the North of Portugal, extending from the city of Porto to the eastern border, where the Port wine production activities and the unique scenery sculpted by the Douro river and its tributaries are highlights not to be missed. The Alto Douro Region has been producing wine for some 2,000 years and its landscape has been moulded by human activities. The components of the landscape are representative of the full range of activities association with winemaking - terraces, quintas (wine-producing farm complexes), villages, chapels and roads. The terraces, by blending into infinity with the curves of the countryside, endow this property with its unique character. The boundaries correspond to identifiable natural features of the landscape watercourses, mountain ridges, roads and paths. The landscape in the Demarcated Region of the Douro is formed by steep hills and boxed-in valleys that flatten out into plateaux above 400 m. The most dominant feature of the landscape is the terraced vineyards that blanket the countryside. Throughout the centuries, row upon row of terraces have been built, and the earliest was that of the socalcos , narrow and irregular terraces buttressed by walls of schistous stone that were regularly taken down and rebuilt, on which only one or two rows of vines could be planted. Surrounded on all sides by mountains, the Dão region is protected both from the direct influence of the continental climate, and from the chill and rains from the ocean. This is high country, rising from 200 metres above sea level at its lowest spots to 1,000 metres in the Serra da Estrela, the high mountain range to the south and east of the region. High altitude makes for cool nights, slower ripening, good acidity, and the potential for great elegance in the wines, both red and white. Dão wines can usually age well. Vineyards, often very small patches of vines, are scattered at various altitudes amidst pine forests. Soils are very poor and granitic, with some schist to the south-west. For red wines, Touriga national and Alfrocheiro perform very well here, with the help of Tinta Roriz (also Known as Aragonez, or, in Spain, Tempranillo), along with the traditional Jaen, Baga, Bastardo and Tinta Pinheira. Star white grape is the Encruzado, making styles ranging from light, fresh whites to richer, barrel-fermented versions. Supporting white varieties are Bical, Cercial, Malvasia Fina, Rabo de Ovelha and Verdelho. The Alentejo region covers about a third of Portugal, a place of undulating plains and gentle hills. Soils vary greatly: schist, pink marble, granite, limestone, often laid upon a sub-layer of waterretaining clay. The reds, easy drinkers, rich and fruity, can be found on wine lists the length of the country. There are quaffing wines, but also fine wines, especially in the red department. Whites are more difficult in this hot climate, but some very good ones are made, given the right place, and/or appropriate skill in vineyards and cellar. DOP Alentejo has eight sub-regions that together cover about a fifth of the Vinho Regional Alentejano region, but these are rarely seen a label. It makes sense to take advantage of the name Alentejo (or Vinho Regional Alentejano). Seven of the sub-regions are clustered fairly centrally. Portalegre lies well to the north east on the granite foothills of the São Mamede mountains, where higher rainfall and cooler temperatures especially at night, along with many old vines, gives complexity and freshness. Borba, Évora, Redondo and Reguengos are more typical of the Alentejo, and can make smooth, harmonious, very easy-drinking reds.

Two kilometers from World Heritage denominated city of Évora, and 200 meters from the Cartuxa Monastery from which it takes its name, the Cartuxa Wine Tourism Centre is located at Quinta de Valbom, the former refectory of the retreat for the Jesuits who taught at the University of Évora in the 16th and 17th centuries. When the Jesuits were expelled in 1759 by the then Prime Minister, Marquês de Pombal, the property was taken over by the state. In 1776 it took on a new function as a significant wine cellar producing wines from the region’s grapes. Acquired in the 19th century by the family of Eugénio de Almeida, the Adega Cartuxa (Cartuxa Winery) has undergone various renovations and extensions over the years, but never at the cost of its rich history and architecture. Adega Cartuxa – Quinta de Valbom is now the cellar for aging wines produced by the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation. The success of this winegrowing venture generates the necessary funds to allow the Foundation to fulfill its mission of social, cultural and educational development in the region.

This is a tour where there is a true combination of cycling and discovery, and you can be sure to leave Portugal with a much richer knowledge of our region! Along your cycling days you will visit castles, churches, artisans, wine producers and typical family owned cafés. The landscape changes from olive groves to vineyards and cork oaks, from granite to schist and to marble. The accommodation suggested is mostly in palaces, convents, castles or lovely farms. You'll feel you're sleeping like queens and kings! You start in the small village of Alvito, very famous for its manueline architecture, and from there cycle to Évora, impressive city classified by UNESCO as World Heritage Site. In Évora you’ll explore the megalithic monuments. Continue to Monsaraz, the lovely white castled village with a panoramic view over the biggest artificial lake of Europe, and cycle through Terena and its impressive sanctuary. The tour then goes to Vila Viçosa, where you can visit the famous Ducal Palace, and finishes in Estremoz, the city of the «white gold» (marble). The days are relaxing and easy. You’ll do between 35 and 50km. Roads are mostly undulating. This means that you rarely have big climbs, but go slightly up and down several times. We mix some dirt roads with asphalt, but most of the tour is on asphalt. The dirt road conations give the tour a special link to nature.

In this medium level cycling tour we start cycling in a wild rugged area of the Southwest Alentejo and Costa Vicentina NP, on the west coast. Then, we cycle along the popular south coast, the true Algarve, including very picturesque spots closer to the Spanish border. Our days have lots of variety with visits to places such as the Fisherman’s Museum, the Cape of Sagres and several fortresses. The Portuguese Sea Discoveries of the 15th century are always present. Besides cycling and enjoying the amazing scenery, we invite you also to learn about the local economy. A visit to an organic farm where fruit in grown and transformed in jams, chutneys, cakes and chocolates is one of the learning highlights. The salines visit another one and, to a sweet end, a visit to a pastry factory where you will have the chance to make some cakes and taste them! The beaches are beautiful, on the first days with fun waves and impressive steep cliffs on the background while the last days offer us quiet and crystal blue waters. You will find out that even in the more touristy Algarve areas there are still hidden away empty beaches. Though the Algarve is apparently flat, there are several short ups and downs along the day, so you should be fit enough to handle the hills. In the 6th day there is a transfer by train to avoid the more busy area of the Algarve. The hotels are all nice, though we hope you don’t have much time to spend there! The Algarve usually is a bit warmer than the rest of the country in autumn and spring, so you may end up having a swim in late October or early April!
