Hello.... My name is Desiree Baca and I’m the manager here at AbqPartySpace. I’ve been happy working in the as a personal event planner for 5 years now. Not only do I get to meet with clients, I bond with them over the course of their event. Over the past 5 years I’ve been able to be apart of over 600 parties, from baby showers, kids parties, adult parties, sweet sixteens, weddings and many more. Making events have a successful turn out over the years has been a fun adventure, learning so much and making clients events everything they dreamed. Over the past 5 years I’ve had the pleasure of meeting some amazing caterers, djs, bakers, linens and still meeting more of them everyday. Putting together different themes for every single event and pairing up all these vendors with the clients to make the event a success is always a challenge at first but in the end SUCCESS. I am proud to say that I’ve been able to decorate for so many events over the years, it has given me the opportunity to bond with clients till the day of the event and some that I still keep in touch with.

Taking care of these personal events I’ve learned that this is about “LOVE” and by that I mean these are people’s grandparents, parents, children and close friends. So it is my main goal here at AbqPartySpace to see that all the events have their needs met as much as possible. I’m happy to say that my AbqPartySpace team is here to make every event happen without breaking your packet. Our goal is to find every affordable way to make it happen without the stress of having to handle it on your own. We are here to help along with the process, to make each event less stressful till the day of. Every single event as it own personal experience and I can proudly say that we are here for you.

How many people can you hold? We have two rooms. One seats 116 and the other 144. They connect with a door and we often have large events accommodating over 200 guests. This is a great way to have a large family gathering with a lot of kids. We can have a huge bounce house and face painter for all the kids while all the adults dance the night away.

Do you have DJ’s?

How is the parking?

We can get you DJ’s. Their numbers are in the magazine or just call us and tell us what you like. Five hours will run roughly $300. You can of course bring your own DJ and you can evenjust bring a laptop or a phone and get free Wi-Fi.

How soon do I have to book? We book on a first come first serve basis. If you really need a certain date, grab it. Weddings book out up to 18 months, other parties range from 1-6 months. Play it safe!

What is the deposit? The deposit is 25% of the price. This goes directly against your balance. So if your party room is $399 you put down $100 and you owe $299.

Once you pay the deposit the room is yours. You can stop in or call in periodically and pay whatever you like to get your balance down or you can just pay in one additional payment prior to the event. We can work with you on that.

What about Clean-Up? Just take your leftovers and gifts and we handle the rest. Your life just got really simple!

fter the proposing, crying and telling everyone about the future wedding, the next practical thing to do is to look for the perfect wedding gown / wedding tux, booking the best venue, selecting the nicest menu and wedding cake and, of course, hiring the right wedding photographer for you. Most likely, it would be your first time to look for a wedding photographer and to hire one. It is very much possible for you to be overwhelmed and intimidated with all the talks about the packages, pricing, contracts, styles, shoots and many more. It is not an easy job to look for the right wedding photographer. To help you, here are some of the mistakes you might make. One of the mistakes you should not make is over-looking a wedding photographer’s personality. Do not let yourself get distracted by the skills and good works of the wedding photographer. His/her great techniques and skills are just important as his/her personality. Do not hire a wedding photographer whose personality you dislike.

Do not expect to have plenty of breath taking shots from an amateur wedding photographer.

You will be spending time with him/her before and on the day of the wedding day so it is important that your personality and your wedding photographer’s personality do not repel each other. Follow you gut feelings and hire the wedding photographer you can trust and have fun with. The best photo would not be that special if the experience in getting that photo was nasty. Second, do not expect to have plenty of breath taking shots from an amateur wedding photographer. Amateur wedding

Cosmetologist’s Consult Hair Fashion Trends The recent trends in the cosmetology field regarding color encompass giving clients what they want without damaging the integrity of the hair. A lot of clients want to be able to change hair color with the seasons going from darker hair in the winter to light blonde in the summer and a range of different colors in between. My recommendations to clients who want to experiment with the full color spectrum are to take extremely good care of their hair; especially in our dry desert climate. I use and sell only the best product lines in my salon and continually educate myself; that’s my part. Color can be expensive; it is an investment. Clients need to invest in the care of their hair and do their part at home. I give recommendations on cleansing and conditioning, twice a month deep restorative treatments, and styling. Hot tools can really be damaging; I give my clients recommendations for temperature setting for their hair type. Many clients make the mistake of having hot tools turned up way too high. I use the analogy of fabric; clients that have strong thick coarse hair have hair like denim. When ironing denim you can use higher heat. Clients that have fine delicate hair, their fabric type is silk. You cannot use high heat on silk, it will destroy it. I like educating my clients; I give them mini classes with their appointments. My clients always leave looking great but if they don’t know how to take care or style their hair at home it is problem. I don’t expect them to style exactly like I do because I’m a professional, I do this every day. The more they follow recommendations and practice styling the better results they will get.

We Found Our Venue I don’t know why, but for some reason we couldn’t find an Albuquerque wedding hall that was able to accommodate our family and friends without costing an arm and a leg. We had searched long and hard, but it was our friends who told us that this one would be the one and that’s how we found ABQPartySpace. She‘d recently had a friend who was married in the hall and was impressed with the size, location and overall value of the packages. So we scoped it out. Here’s what we have to say about this venue.

This wedding hall is above all extremely spacious. We loved it! It wasn’t just spacious either it was in a nice part of Albuquerque that was close to most of our guests’ homes and both freeways. It was elegant and easy. This is a great place. Also, we want to send a shout out to the awesome staff . members here. They made the whole wedding planning process so much easier. They are definitely some of the most accommodating people in the industry.

Baby games to play at the Baby Shower baby showers

Babies are so much fun. But baby games shower are much more fun since moms-to-be, godparents, grandparents, and other invitees in the baby shower can get to play childish games again. Some of the baby game shower that can be played include Sing It, Baby!, Measuring up Mommy, Here’s Looking at You, Kid!, Don’t Say Baby, Baby Truth or Dare, The Seventh Gift, and Dig out the Pins.

Ultrasound: An

Prenatal

(NewsUSA) - For many moms-to-be, a first ultrasound is a life changing experience -- it can also be a life saving moment for the child they're carrying. While ultrasounds have been used in prenatal care for many years, new technology is changing the face of obstetrical care. Today, doctors can use 3D and 4D imaging capabilities along with "conventional" 2D ultrasound, allowing them to examine everything from a baby's developing brain to its arms and legs. They can even see a fetal heart the size of a dime. These new capabilities can help doctors detect problems that could put babies at risk. "Thanks to early detection through prenatal care, medicine can often save at-risk babies who would have been lost a generation ago," said Dr. Jacques Abramowicz, Frances T. and Lester B. Knight professor, director of Ob/Gyn Ultrasound and Co-Director of the Rush Fetal and Neonatal Medicine Center in Chicago. "But we can only make a difference if moms take the initiative to see their doctors and see them early in their pregnancy."

Part Care

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 4 million American women will give birth this year, and nearly one-third will experience some kind of complication. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration says babies born to mothers who receive no prenatal care are five times more likely to die and three times more likely to be born at low birth weight than those whose mothers receive prenatal care. Prenatal care provides a wide range of support, including medical care, education and counseling. Ultrasound is often a critical part of that all-important care. By providing pregnant women "with important information and sometimes an early warning if there could be a bump in the road ahead, ultrasound aids physicians in making better diagnoses, which helps moms make better choices for their babies and themselves," said Janice Blackwell, vice president, Ultrasound Global Marketing, for Philips Healthcare.

This is also another great way to give honor to the mom-to-be for having that precious baby on the way. How do we play these baby game showers? Here is the run-down on how to play the baby game shower and create good memories of a great baby shower.

when you were a baby? This game takes you down memory lane as you need to dig up those baby pictures of yours. Because you need them to play the baby game shower Here’s Lookin’ At You, Kid! Before the party itself, request all the guests coming to bring the cutest baby picture of themselves. Upon their arrival, secure each baby picture and assign a number per picture. During the game, lay all baby pictures and give each participant paper and pen and ask them to identify as many baby pictures as they can. The guest with the most number of correct guesses is the big winner. This baby game shower makes you NOT say what you are suppose to be attending to! The game Don’t Say Baby is precisely that! Don’t say “baby” during the entire length of the baby game shower for the diaper pin that was given to you upon your arrival will be taken away from you.

The person with the most number of diaper pins collected at the end of the shower party wins a prize. This baby game shower is for those who love baby trivia and the like. Play Baby Truth or Dare by writing down some baby trivia, some correct and others purposely written incorrectly. During the baby game shower, ask randomly if the baby facts are either true or false. Those who guess correctly gets a prize while those who don’t will be dared to perform in front of everyone else.We all know that the single lady who catches the bride’s wedding bouquet is said to become the next bride. In The Seventh Gift, it is not so much a baby game shower but more of a fable that says that the giver of the seventh gift unwrapped will be the next expecting mother. However, avoid “planting” the seventh gift.

Cupcakes are a great addition to your baby shower party.

Grandparents, Keep Your Meds Up and Away From Young Children (NewsUSA) - Grandparents love spending time with their grandchildren. Grandbabies bring so much joy. However, it's not unusual for the curious, tiny fingers of youngsters to end up in places they shouldn't. Putting precious or breakable objects out of reach is important, and so is keeping medicines and vitamins up and away and out of sight of young children. More than 70,000 children end up in emergency departments each year after getting their hands on medicines left within reach. That's 165 kids -- or roughly four busloads of kids -- per day. Far too often, that medicine belonged to a grandparent. Where are young children getting their hands on medicines? From countertops and bedside tables, purses and pockets, and loose pills on tables or floors. Weekly pill minders can help you keep track of multiple medications, but they rarely have child-resistant features so a curious child can't get into the colorful medicines stored inside. "Grandparents and parents may not be aware of the danger posed by leaving medications where young children can reach or see them," says Dr. Dan Budnitz, director of the Medication Safety Program at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). "A few simple steps -- followed every time -- can protect our children." So, grandparents, enjoy your precious time with your young grandchildren. But whether hosting them in your house or visiting at theirs, remember to store your medicines in a place they cannot access.

Here are some tips from CDC's "Up and Away and Out of Sight" initiative: • Keep all medicines and vitamins up and away and out of sight in a high cabinet or other place inaccessible to your grandchildren. If you think you may forget to take your medicines if they are not in sight, leave yourself a reminder on the refrigerator or somewhere you check daily. • Never leave medicine or vitamins out on a counter or bedside table, even if you have to take the medicine again in a few hours. • Always relock the safety cap on a medicine bottle. If it has a locking cap that turns, twist it until you hear the click. • Never tell children medicine is candy so they'll take it, even if your grandchild does not like to take his or her medicine. • Keep purses, bags or coats that have medicines or vitamins in them out of reach and sight of young children. • Program the Poison Help number (1-800-2221222) into your phone so you have it in case of emergency. Visit UpandAway.org for more tips on safe medicine storage.

(NewsUSA) - No matter what season it is, skin isn't the only thing that gets burned by sunlight. Eyes are just as sensitive, and children's eyes are especially vulnerable.

PROTECTING CHILDREN'S

"The crystalline lens in children's and teenagers' eyes is more transparent than in adults, which makes them more susceptible to cornea and retina damage from the sun," says Corinne McCormack, spokesperson for The Vision Council and Fashion Director at FGX International, Inc. "Having your kids wear sunglasses while outdoors is actually as important as getting them to wear hats and sunscreen." The Vision Council just launched a Bureau of Missing Sunglasses initiative informing adults and children that "sunglasses are absolutely critical for keeping vision safe from UV damage," as stated in their 2012 report. So, what can you do to protect your young tike's eyes?

EYES FROM THE SUN

"If you're concerned your little guy or gal won't wear sunglasses, look for designs you know they love -- like bright patterns, fun shapes or sunglasses with their favorite cartoon or movie character," adds McCormack. The following safety guidelines can also help: Seek shade for mid-day sun. UV rays are most powerful from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., so avoid being in direct sunlight without access to shade, umbrellas or protective clothing. Wear protective apparel. A wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses are musts. Look for sunglasses with the 'MaxBlock' sticker, which indicates 100 percent UVA and UVB lens protection. The Foster Grant sunglass line (www.fostergrant.com) offers styles especially for kids as well as bands to keep them secure on small heads, and every pair has a MaxBlock seal. Set a good example. Your children will learn many habits from you, so reapply sunscreen often, and always remember to wear your sunglasses. Remind kids to pack their sunglasses and hats for vacation, and reward them for reapplying sunscreen. Don't forget, sunglasses protect your eyes all year round. Failure to comply with eye safety may lead to long-term complications, including cataracts, retinal problems, macular degeneration, cancer and abnormal growths on the eye's surface. Experts at the World Health Organization say ultraviolet (UV) damage is largely preventable. Encouraging good sunexposure habits from childhood is a must.

The Reading Wars:

Technology Helps Kids Learn to Read (NewsUSA) - Parents know that the best way to instill a love of reading in a child is to read to them early and often. Unfortunately, this does not guarantee an avid book lover. Nor does it guarantee that a child will be able to read well. That's because children learn differently, experts say. Some need visual experiences, while others respond to auditory cues. Still others need a hands-on approach. Despite parents' best efforts, however, sometimes children continue to struggle to make sense of words on a page. So, what's a concerned (but frustrated) parent to do? "Children's reading problems are rooted in how they process information," says educator David Fowler, M. Ed. Fowler likens a child's mind to a computer, noting that their mind either "processes information quickly and accurately or misinterprets and disorganizes it." To this end, reading programs that use technology can be an invaluable resource for both kids and parents by retraining how the brain processes information. To ease parents' worries, Fowler underscores that the

problem does not lie with a child's intelligence, but rather that the child's mind is only working at half of it's true potential. "This is simply because the learning patterns they've adopted prevent them from reading faster and comprehending more," he says. This is why programs such as those used by the USA Reading Clinic may be beneficial, says Fowler. This is because the program trains the brain to process text by recognizing patterns, resolving common (but little known) reading roadblocks. Through years of research and testing, USA Reading Clinic has created technology that corrects a person's scanning methods, eliminating the deficiencies and installing the right learning patterns so that reading and learning become almost automatic. In this way, USA Reading Clinic helps a child "untangle the mess of letters and spaces they see to create words, paragraphs and cohesive pages," through an easy-touse software platform that can be used by anyone, on any home computer.

3. The ScoreSelect option, available July 2012, helps individuals approach test day with more confidence, knowing they can send the scores they feel reflect their personal best. Now GRE test takers can decide which test scores to send to the institutions they designate.

1. It is the one test that applicants can take to apply to more than 3,000 graduate and business schools worldwide. GRE scores are used for admission to master's, MBA, Ph.D. and fellowship programs.

4. The GRE revised General Test features a flexible, friendly design for a better test experience. MBA applicants around the world are now taking the GRE revised General Test with its test-taker friendly design, new ScoreSelect option, free services, and more advanced degree opportunities. Throwing a Graduation Party Do it with Style!

G

raduation is an exciting time for the graduate, and friends and family alike. It is a time to congratulate and commend the graduate for a job well done. Graduation is a huge milestone in anyone’s life, and should be marked appropriately. A graduation dinner or graduation party is a great way to do so. Party theme. There are many themes that can be incorporated into a graduation party. If the graduate is heading off to college, the party could be themed around the college colors, letters, and mascot. This goes double for anyone graduating from college as well. The graduation can also be themed around the interests or degree of the graduate. Another great theme that is easy to put together is a diploma theme. The diploma can be incorporated into all party elements like the cake, plates, napkins, and invitations. PARTY TYPES. The type of graduation party can depend on several factors. Time of day can play a big part. If it is an afternoon graduation the party can be more casual. If it is an evening graduation, a more formal event is in order. INVITATIONS. The type of graduation invitation ordered depends on all these factors. Choose an invitation that coordinates with the theme, whether high school or college, special interest, school colors, or the diploma theme. The graduation invitation should also reflect the style of the graduation party. If it is formal, the graduation party invitation should be formal too. If it is a casual gathering, the invitation may be casual.

Graduation Party Ideas

S

ome true milestones in a person’s life are the first day of a job, their wedding day, birth of a child or a high school or college graduation. A graduation party commemorates the completion of many years of study and work and is a symbolic send off into a bright future. Keeping the graduate the center of attention should be the central aim of any successful graduation party. The graduate should be the star of the show. Take note of these graduation party ideas to get you started:

*

Invitations

-

Formal or informal, there are plenty of unique ways to create your graduation party invitations. Making them resemble little diplomas is a creative and popular idea. They are easy to make too, just print party information on fancy paper, then roll up and tie with a ribbon in the graduate’s school color. Add some flair by tying on a diploma charm or tassel. If you are sending out traditional paper or imprinted invites, sprinkle on some confetti to match the decorative colors of the school. In your invitation, ask each guest to come to the party with his or her own musical message, personal note, tape recorded message or a video segment. If the graduate’s relatives are not able to be present for the party, request them to make a video clipping for that graduate and display this tape during the party. Be sure to carefully save the remembrances so that the graduate can look back fondly on this day years later. Send out the invitations as early as possible.

* Themes - You’ll need to think of an appropriate

theme to make your graduation party stand out. For example, if the graduate is a big sports fan you can prepare the theme based around their favorite sport or team. Hang up jerseys, pennants, newspaper clippings around the house or yard. Your sports theme can also include custom imprinted balls, pom poms, pennants or cheer phones.

Stadium cups from their favorite team can be used to enhance your sports graduation party theme. Generally, you should plan for an open house style as most graduates have many friends who will want to try to make it to each party after the graduation ceremony.

* Location

- Essentially, you should decide the location based on convenience. Your home, community center, park, club house, or bowling alley make good options for your graduation party.

* Decorations - Along

with the theme, the décor can be one of the most important graduation party ideas. This day will mark the completion of a long road through school and it is fun to remember the early days of the graduate’s life. Setup a table to be filled with the memorabilia brought by the guests. Dig through the attic or basement to find awards, sports photos, prom photos, honors, diplomas, senior pictures, mortarboard, textbooks and pennants. Have some photos blown up as posters. This display will honor and be cherished by the graduate and his family. The grad and his friends will enjoy reminiscing about the good old days. Now that you’ve done all this work, don’t forget to take dozens of pictures! If you have the capabilityFree Reprint Articles, upload them to photo sharing websites for the whole world (or just your family) to see. Using a few simple graduation party ideas will make your graduate feel on the top of the world and ready to move on to the next stage of their life.

Increasing College Persistence (NewsUSA) - It's great to get low-income students to college, but what if they drop out during their first year? What is the difference between those students who persist in college and those who do not? A new study revealed that the persistence rate in college from participants of a program that engages them to work in meaningful internships during high school is greater than it is for their peers. "Once students experience professional success while in high school, continuing on a path to a lifetime of lowwage occupations is no longer an option, so when the going gets tough in college, they stay determined to succeed," said Rafael Alvarez, Founder and CEO of Genesys Works(www.genesysworks.org). Genesys Works is a 501c3 organization located in Houston, Texas, Chicago, Ill., and Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minn., that provides underprivileged high-school seniors with meaningful internships in Fortune 500 and other major companies. With data provided by Genesys Works and Houston Independent School District, researchers from the Texas Schools Project at The University of Texas at Dallas conducted a review and analysis of the impact of the Genesys Works internship program on a student's persistence beyond the first year of college.

The study found that 92 percent of program completers pursued a college education, and 86 percent persisted after their first year in college, as compared to their peers in the same schools, 50 percent of whom went on to college, and 41 percent persisted beyond year one. These results suggest that the Genesys Works model can be a possible solution to alleviate the nationwide challenge associated with students persisting with their college education. This also provides further support for two Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development reports that argue that vocational education that combines formal education and actual work experience is a highly effective method of learning that exceeds classroom education only. The Pathways to Prosperity Study released by the Harvard Graduate School of Education concludes that "if we could develop an American strategy to engage educators and employers in a more collaborative approach to the education and training of the next generation of workers, it would surely produce important social as well as economic returns on investment." "Given that this is precisely what Genesys Works is trying to accomplish, the findings of this report lend support to the argument that programs like this are likely to yield high returns," said Dr. Nidhi Mehrotra, lead investigator for the project at the University of Texas Dallas.
