Are You A Victim Of Domestic Violence? When we think of domestic violence, we often think of physical abuse, the kind we can see with our eyes. However, there are many types that often go unseen by the rest of the world. Sadly, in this day and age it is not uncommon to know someone who has been the victim of domestic violence.

Domestic violence comes in many forms. The ones we hear about most frequently are:

Physical Abuse – this includes any type of violent action taken upon another person and can also include the neglect of seeking medical attention to help an injured person or forcing someone to use drugs or alcohol.

Sexual Abuse – when the abuser tries to coerce a victim into sexual behavior or actions without the victim’s consent.

Emotional Abuse – this type of abuse involves the deflating of or invalidating the victim’s sense of self-worth and/or self-esteem.

Some of the lesser-known types of domestic violence include:

Economic Abuse – this occurs when an abuser attempts to make the victim financially dependent on the abuser.

Psychological Abuse – in this scenario, the abuser uses intimidation and threats to keep the victims from living a normal life.

Stalking & Cyber Stalking – actions like spying, watching, harassing, showing up at a victim’s location, and many other things are included in this type of abuse.
