Stripes, circles, and hexagons—thanks to varying shades of blue—prove to be complementary rather than combative
I’ve found blue to be a useful color if I plan to introduce strong graphic elements into a space. Or, to be more specific, blues: Variations in shade, intensity, and hue enable me to combine patterns that otherwise might seem incompatible—for example, the polka-dot abstract painting and striped wing chair, flanked by hexagon-patterned curtains ( above ). opposite : White-painted Chippendale-style chairs with leather cushions and a zinc-topped table with a wooden-cross base provide a lively interplay of materials and forms.
