We are Derryfield
Katherine Schwope ’13 << When visited Orphanage Outreach in the Dominican Republic through Derryfield’s global education program, she learned first hand the principles and practice of helping others. Like other Derryfield students, Katherine recognizes that in giving, one learns about and from those whose experiences differ from her own.

“For me it’s all about the desire to give other kids the opportunity to have a defining life experience like DS was for me. Whether it be my love of things mathematical (thank you Messieurs Lemire, Bailey, and Holland), my writing skills (Mr. Belt), my passion for languages (Madame Townsend), my appreciation for drama (Mr. Allen), or the simple pleasure of being with friends, I find the influence of my four years at DS remarkably and wonderfully persistent. Everyone should be so lucky!” —Patrick Rutty ’84 Derryfield provided the educational foundation for my children. Through its outstanding faculty, its dedication to excellence in academics, athletics, and the arts, it gives students the necessary skills to pursue their own personal successes. By giving to Derryfield, we are assisting students in building the foundations for their success, both as students and global citizens. —Catharine Newick, Former Board Chair, Alumni Parent As a teacher, being encouraged to explore two passions in mathematics and basketball, being supported in innovation in teaching, while working with great students from supportive families, and the opportunity to teach children of alumni all make me want to do my part to make these opportunities open to future teachers and students. —Dennis Holland, Faculty, Veteran Coach
