Creative Writing: Betrayal
Over the course of high school prior to this betrayal, I was never the best at making friends, but I somehow made a handful of the greatest friends I could have asked for, such as Ian. He was a always a clown, never leaving the group without a smile on our faces. Furthermore, he had helped me boost my confidence by showing and teaching me boxing and mixed martial arts; prior to this, I had been bullied several times and during dance practice, and he had seen me get thrown to the ground by another dancer, after being thrown down I had a surge of all the bad memories and I left the room and broke down. Ian had followed me and he comforted me by telling me a story of the times that he too had been bullied, He then proceeded to offer me kajukenpo,

Infidelity, unfaithfulness, and modesty outline the surface of the play Betrayal written by Harold Pinter. From afar the relationships between the trio of characters seems normal but; when taking a deeper look, the correlations are noticeably dysfunctional. The three main characters, Emma, Jerry and Robert interact kindly, never seem to interrupt one another, ask innocent questions and do not, generally, inspect over much the answers. They help each other over the occasional awkward moments and talk when necessary. But these characters rejoice when knowing something that someone else does not and that knowledge is sometimes translated into power. Though it takes time, sometimes even years to breach things under the surface eventually and...show more content...
She no longer exudes this strong woman image but rather takes on a weaker demeanor. We see this powerless image of her in several scenes when meeting with Jerry she constantly needs to be reassured of his love. At the beginning of the play in Spring 1977 where Emma and Jerry are sharing drinks at the pub, she is very emotional. Her feelings for Jerry during this scene are evident as she asks, "Ever think of me?" and "You think of me sometimes?" (Pinter 17). Her insecurity and low self–esteem shines brightly in this encounter with her ex–lover. During that first scene Emma confesses to Jerry that Robert has been cheating on her and that "he's had other women for years." (Pinter 25) Yet she insists on feeling hurt and does not feel guilty for her mirrored actions. In scene 4, when Jerry comes to visit Robert and Emma at their house, upon leaving Emma breaks away and cries quietly on Robert's shoulder. She seems overwhelmed with all of the interactions. At this point in the play Robert knows of Jerry and Emma's affair but Jerry has no idea that he is aware. Emma is most likely weighed down by the lies and feels besieged with all of the secrets surrounding her. Slowly we see a once strong woman turn into a weak and unhappy person. Initially displeased with her marriage, she now has lost her lover as well as getting a divorce with her husband. When you compare the Emma from

"I don't think they like me." The girl said matter–of–factly, never removing her eyes from the mirror as she stroked the brush through her hair which trailed down to her waist where it finally ended with a slight curl. "When have they ever liked you?" the man responded from behind the girl on his perch on the window seat. His amber eyes watched the girl closely, the way her back was rigid and the way her shoulders hunched naturally as if she was always prepared and waiting for the next beating. Always trying to hide herself so she wasn't quite as vulnerable to the world which had never treated her kindly. "I know." She said with the softest sigh, closing her eyes for a moment before opening them and locking eyes with the man's reflection in the mirror. "I don't want to be the outcast again." She whispered so quietly that there was a chance she had only meant it to be heard by her own ears. "I wonder what it's like." she mused, her eyes losing focus as she was lost to her imagination and what she had always thought it would be like to have a friend. It would be glorious, she had figured, having someone who accepted you for who you are and didn't try to change you. Someone who stuck by your side and wouldn't leave you nor would they want to. Someone who would listen to you and be there for you when you needed them and be there even when you didn't. It would be a bit like heaven in a way, but it was a heaven that had always been out of her grasp. "To have a friend." she

Betrayal In Relationships
This article investigates how betrayal in relationships does not always mean the end of them. Not only are social exchange theories tested, but also the inclusion of the uncertainty reduction theory to identify and predict the likelihood for the relational outcomes due to betrayal. Participants were told to report an instance of betrayal. The results to maintaining relational satisfaction post–betrayal were connected to associated with relational continuance. The findings were generally consistent with both social exchange and uncertainty reduction predictions. The more profitable and satisfying a relationship prior to a betrayal, the more likely the relationship will be to survive a transgression. Continuance in a relationship is usually

To someone I loved,
There was a point in time when I was hurt. It was emotional so there weren't any physical marks for evidence. I had been hurt by the words and actions of those close to me. There was a quote I saw that said, "The saddest part about betrayal is that is always comes from the ones you believe were loyal." That quote lived true for me. Betrayal comes around but only from the ones you thought were loyal. It's hard for me to trust anyone, but the pain should wear off in the night. By morning, I'll forget there was ever pain in the first place.
I had been hurt before but this time around, the pain was different. It came with a sense of endangerment. I had a feeling something bad would happen as the pain diminished each day. So...show more content...
Metaphorically speaking, of course. My guard was put down, and I was hit. The cannonball struck me in the area where many before me had been hurt: my heart. Now I was in disbelief because I couldn't trust my instincts for an extended period of time. Who was this cannonball? Well, it was someone who I thought was close to me, someone who I thought wouldn't crush my heart the way it was shattered. That person was you. You didn't directly hurt me though. This time it was a matter of games I played in my head. At that time, I couldn't admit I has fallen inlove with you. I was putting an unnecessary weight on my shoulders. Luckily, that weight didn't kill me. That weight weakened me for sure, but I wasn't dead yet. Theoretically speaking, I could've openly admitted to loving you and the weight could've been removed.
Instead, I chose to take the more difficult path. That path sent me to sleep every night with a pounding in my head. Every bang was another denial. I couldn't fall in love. I absolutely couldn't fall in love. Trying to persuade myself, I continued to say it over and over again. You betrayed me. Although it was indirect, you still hurt me because I never imagined you for being the cause of the hammering in my head. You broke my heart without intentionally doing. You broke my heart without even knowing

Betrayal in F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby" The Great Gatsby is a novel written by F. Scott Fitzgerald in 1925. It is recognized as the "Great American Novel" as it shows great wealth, partying, jazz music and many other aspects of the "American Dream". In his novel, he displays a lot of symbols, and themes including wealth, greed, and the most vivid, betrayal. Betrayal can upset many people and ruin many people. Betrayal was demonstrated throughout the entire novel with a lot of connections. Three situations will be examined, and they will be:

He was talking intently across the table at her, and in his earnestness his hand had fallen upon and covered her own. Once in a while she looked up at him and nodded in agreement." –Fitzgerald, 146 The end of chapter eight details the tragic events that ended Gatsby's life. George Wilson, manipulated by Tom, kills Gatsby to seek justice. News spread about Gatsby's death which caused a lot of traffic at his house; they weren't people that knew him from a personal level, but were journalists, photographers, police officers and other media positions. Everyone except Nick believed Gatsby was the killer of Myrtle and Wilson was "deranged by grief" (Fitzgerald, 164). Further investigation ended and then the funeral took place. Gatsby's body demanded Nick to call everyone that regularly attended the party to join him as he couldn't do it alone: "Look here, old sport, you've got to get somebody for me. You've got to try hard. I can't go through this alone." (Fitzgerald, 166) No one from the Get more content
Betrayal in the Great Gatsby Essay
Betrayal and trust During adolescence, teenagers want to become independent and often times do not tell their parents where they are off to in the evening. They leave their parents in the dust, who await their arrival in the night if it is past curfew. Teenagers make irresponsible decisions because their pre–frontal cortex is not fully developed. Neuroscientists have determined that the orbitofrontal and anterior cingulate cortex in our brains regulates our choices (Nauert, 2011). There is a 60% difference between drug use among children of intact families and children of drug users (Black, 2016). Divorce leads to disaster and the numbers are parallel there as well. It is incredible how a parent can condone children easily if they are honest. David states, "I am packing an overnight bag for him and look for a sweater in his backpack. I do not find the sweater, but instead discover a small bag of marijuana" (56). Parents can never really tell where their teenager is off to, because they lie, and the naive parents bite the bait. The bag of marijuana is a metaphor for a can of worms because once Nic is exposed to marijuana, it leads him to try more drugs as he grows up. Later in the book, Nic later confesses to David that his initial exposure to drugs was alcohol when he was alone in the house and with friends from high school at the time. "Each new betrayal brings with it a new eruption of emotions" (199) because trust is built over a lifetime and it can be broken in

Betrayal may be the key to helping oneself. A person may betray its family, culture, or tribe and sometimes it may be all three. If a person betrayed something that had a negative effect on them they may be awarded friends, respect, and support. Junior in Sherman Alexie's novel The Absolutely True Diary of a Part–Time Indian was awarded all three. Junior is a Spokane Indian that left his Reservation school for a richer and better school called Reardan. Junior let down his tribe, family, and culture when he left to go to Reardan, but he gained more friends, support, and respect. While he was attending Reardan he was more respected by his peers. The betrayal positively effected Junior because of the friends, support, and respect that he gained. Junior is treated better at Reardan than at the Reservation. People that attend the Reservation made fun of him and beat him up, but when he was at Reardan Junior established dominance and was no longer made fun of. How To Write A Betrayal Essay
In "The Tragedy of Julius Caesar", Brutus gives the final stab in the assassination of Caesar. Caesar shows feelings of betrayal when Brutus is about to engage in the action that ended his life. William Shakespeare leaves some sense of wonder about why Caesar felt so abandoned. This leaves Brutus to be the only one to betray. However, that is not completely true. There was a relationship between the two that is left out in this story. Brutus and Caesar were part of a chain of events that happened that made them grow together, but yet also grow apart. From the beginning of Brutus's life, Caesar was always welcoming to him. In the play, Caesar expresses betrayal when he says "Et tu, BrutГ©" (No Fear Shakespeare. Act 3, Scene 1, Page 5) before...show more content...
Brutus wanted the fame and fortune, but instead, Caesar had everything he had ever wanted. Brutus states that he is afraid that the people have made Caesar their king (Julius Caesar. Act 1, Scene 2, Pg. 4). Brutus does not want Caesar to be crowned because he wants to be the king himself. Brutus says, "If it's for the good of all Romans, I'd do it even if it meant my death" (No Fear Shakespeare. Act 1, Scene 2, Page 5). To the reader, it shows that Brutus cares about Rome more than anything. Nevertheless, according to E. Badian, Brutus was personally arrogant and cruel ("Marcus Junius Brutus").
Brutus took money from Asia, "turned the wealth into gold and silver coins. Some, following Caesar's example, with his own portrait on them" (Badian). This evidence points to Brutus being jealous of Caesar's lifestyle and tried trying to make his life similar. He knew that the people of Rome appreciated the way Caesar lead the town, so Brutus wanted to get that same attention, but with even more respect. Assassinating Caesar was the easiest way to get the people to notice him. Afterwards, the city honored Brutus when he told them he was more honorable than Get more content

Have you ever been in an uncompromising situation where you felt betrayed, had a lack of freedom, and was stuck feeling miserable? Well, this short but lyrical poem gives an inside look at how a woman would feel being forced into a situation against her wishes. This poem is about a woman who travels by boat, with wine, to a place she is not looking forward to which caused her to have a lack of rest. She has an unhealthy mind and she uses the wine to help her cope with her depression. She tries to go to her brothers for support, but she "only met with their rage" (761; 120). From close interpretation, it appears that she has dishonored her family traditions as they are strongly opposed to her plea for help. In addition, the woman in this poem may have felt betrayed by the one person who was supposed to love her, as she states "this heart of mine is no stone; you cannot turn it where you will" (761; 13–14). This symbolizes that she is not found of this chosen person in her life and she wants her significant other to know that she is human and has feelings too. Which is a perfect example of romantic betrayal. I feel that she may had been willing if it was someone more desirable. However, this character does not seem to have conveyed her true feelings of this decision because...show more content...

In conclusion, the moral of this poem to me is to speak up for what you believe in despite if you have an army standing behind you or you conquer the situation on your own. Examples Of Betrayal In Julius Caesar
Is betrayal moral or immoral? In the Passage Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, both Brutus and Cassius betrays their best friend Caesar. Even though they both planned the death of Caesar, they both did it for a different reason. This could be one of the reasons why they both died in a different way. William Shakespeare uses the downfall of Brutus and Cassius to how that betrayal is immoral. Brutus was one of Caesar best friends but he still killed Caesar because he thought it would be good for Rome. Even though he thought it was for the good of Rome, he still paid the price for betraying his best friend. The start of his downfall is when he has leave Rome because of Antony speech in act 3 scene 2. His downfall ultimately results in him

Betrayal is a common thing in today's society. Forgiving others based on what they did is a big step. It takes courage to forgive others and heal. Sometimes it's ok to overreact but at the end it's all about you and how you feel. Do things that you feel is right it's up to you to make the decisions. Do not dwell on the past it will prevent you from moving on with your future. It's always the ones that are close to you that would most likely to betray you. But it's all about forgiveness. People would betray you and do not expect you to react and treat them how they treat you. They would play the victim and make it seem like it's all your fault when clearly it's theirs. When I was going through the situation it was hard for me to trust guys especially. Today I still find it hard because I feel like everyone is trying to double cross me because of my past experiences. The feeling where you feel like everyone is lying to you but in reality they are not but you have to much pride in the way. William Shakespeare wrote the play The Tempest around 1610 toward the end of his career. The Tempest, a tragicomedy, blends aspects of tragedy and romance together and depicts them in a humorous way. The Tempest takes place on an island with an unspecified location. The play finds Prospero and Miranda, ousted former Duke of Milan and his daughter, living in exile on an island with Caliban, its lone native inhabitant. The unvarying scenario changes when a storm that causes a crew to shipwreck disrupts the way of life on the island. This seemingly natural event allows for many characters to gradually reveal their true motives as the play progresses. The shift from simple causes to complex ordeals marks a contrast to prior Shakespearean plays....show more content...
Exhibition of loyalty could be used as an initiative to gain the trust of others and improve one's situation. The eagerness of Ariel to be free motivates him to act loyally throughout the span of his servitude. Because of this type of reasoning, many characters in the play are loyal only when convenient and advantageous for them. The moment with no favorable outcome signifies the crumbling of one's will to serve. On rare occasions, however, the quality of loyalty is not fabricated and is rather a genuine sign of goodness. Gonzalo's enjoyment of serving others implies that it is part of his selfless character. The simple display of loyalty brings to light the true motives of all characters, which determines the side that they are truly on. The close focus on each character in the adaptation allows for greater understanding of the basis behind the formation of

Theme Of Betrayal, Revenge, And Forgiveness
Themes in the Tempest Trust is one of the hardest things to acquire, but fairly easy to lose. Putting ones trust into the wrong person could even lead to deception and regret. In the play The Tempest, by William Shakespeare, we witness as Prospero makes that grave mistake of putting his trust into his brother, Antonio. After being betrayed by his own flesh the only thing that was on Prospero's mind was revenge. However, later on in the play he realizes that revenge is not always the best option and forgiveness can go long way. In this essay I will discuss howWilliam Shakespeare ingeniously demonstrates the theme of betrayal, revenge, and forgiveness throughout The Tempest. Prospero, who was the Duke of Milan, was more interested in his magic books then his nobility. He was too distracted to notice that his brother, along with the King of Naples, Alonso, had begun conspiring against him. Prospero who would have never expected this defiance from his brother states, "The creatures that were mine, I say or changed 'em, / Or else new formed 'em having both the key / Of officer and office" (The Tempest 1.2.101–103). Unlike Antonio, Prospero considered their blood bond to be significant, trusting that he will always remain loyal to him. Unfortunately, he made a critical mistake as he let Antonio make the proper acquaintances, learn all the political tricks, and acquire their full support, while he stayed out practicing magic. Antonio had everyone under his control so getting Get more content

Betrayal is something that many people encounter. John Gottman explains, "I believe that by understanding the dynamics of trust and betrayal, we can work to make relationships more trusting. But more than that we can help people become more trustworthy" (Gottman, 2011). To explain, "...the definition of betrayal involves the act of someone violating your trust in them" (Monica A. Frank, 2004). Thus, in order for me to move past all of the betrayals bestowed to me from my marriage, I need to learn to trust people again. After I was married, there were countless times that I felt like my husband was betraying me. After re–reading some of my journal entries, I realized that I had documented him and his best friend leaving for 2 months straight, every Saturday, to help others like his brother, his sister, his other brother, his other brother, his best friend, his best friend's mom, his best friend's grandpa, his cousin, etc. Moreover, my journal was ultimately a huge assistance with my realization that our relationship was not getting any better. Furthermore, my journal turned out to be records of countless betrayals and dysfunctions that occurred throughout my marriage. Oftentimes, "When the people we love or with whom we have a deep connection stop caring, stop paying attention, stop investing and fighting for the relationship, trust begins to slip away and hurt starts seeping in", we begin to feel betrayed (Rankin M.D., 2012). Which I definitely felt when my husband was constantly aiding others. The emotional pain and suffering that I allowed him to impart upon me is unacceptable. My husband leaving with his best friend was just a minor betrayal that I endured while we were married. There were many things that I let him get away with, and it is all because I used to believe, "No matter what happens, the person you love and trust will care about your well being and never intentionally hurt you"

Julius Caesar was a highly respected general and was a part of the triumvirate of the Roman Empire. He was constantly fighting wars and winning new territories. He was becoming very much loved by the roman people. He even shared wealth with the people of Rome, unlike his fellow senate partners. He had a best man named Marc Antony, and a friend named Brutus. Members of the triumvirate seen how loved and powerful Caesar had become. They felt Julius was threatening the tradition of the senate and Rome. While this was happening, a conspiracy grew. The conspiracy was ultimately to kill Caesar before he became too powerful. Cassius, a jealous conspirator, strongly urged Brutus to join in on the conspiracy to kill Caesar. Brutus consciously thought about this decision, he would also think about the "good" of Rome. Brutus decides to join in on the conspiracy. Beware the ides of March (March 15). They conspire to lead Julius to the Theatre of Pompey, and each of the 60 members of the senate stabbed Caesar. The last stab came from Brutus, this scene defines betrayal tragedy. With the last stab comes Julius Caesar's last words, "Et Tu Brute" (even you Brutus?). From this scene and his last words, the definition of betrayal is set. Brutus believes the murder was good for Rome. It is difficult to tell whether he felt remorse for killing Julius. Brutus was easily persuaded by Cassius, which resulted in betrayal. Brutus believed Caesar was ambitious to rule over Rome, despite Caesar declining the crown 3 times. Antony knew this was betrayal. The murder caused distraught and confusion.
