Family involvement improves student behavior, attendance, and achievement. School and student success is a shared interest and parents must be encouraged to become active partners. Feature articles promoting membership in parent/teacher organizations and parent advisory councils, asking for volunteers needed for performance and sport events, classroom assistance, fundraising events, off-campus functions, and school projects should be descriptive and inviting. Providing a ‘menu’ of parent opportunities in every issue will increase parent involvement.
