Interior and Lighting Designer. I am a daughter of the Mediterranean culture, a fact that has provoked a strong influence in my way of seeing and understanding design. Timeless and functional spaces and objects, inspired by the simplicity and the use of natural light are essential premises in my designs, adapted to modernity, without forgetting client’s needs and desires and the peculiarity of each new job. With special sensitivity to light, I understand that it should not only be moulded artificially, why the traditional lattice, reinterpreted, is a recurring element in my spaces. Perfectionist, analytical and creative, always eager to learn new things, improve and surpass myself, I am looking for new challenges and discover new horizons, which has brought me to live and study in Italy, Sweden and Morocco. Which will be my next destination? I am anxious about discover it!

Upon specific request by the client, the concept of space must be directly related to the context of that time. Accordingly, it has taken the Atomium Building, which represents the shape of a unit cell of an iron crystal magnified 165 billion times and is one of the most representative buildings of that Universal Exhibition and principal icon of the city since then, as a main source of inspiration. On one hand, the shapes of some elements of the space as pavements, bespoke lights and lattices, are inspired by infinite combinations of a particle. While furniture, colours, materials and lighting are inspired by the 50’s “Mid-century Modern Style. Given the historic nature of the place, it has been treated with utmost respect, leaving at sight its characteristics round columns and the vaulted ceiling of the main nave, it has been kept as well the large windows white iron frames and the marble low walls and flooring, replacing only the central gaps with a large format ceramic covering.

The original space, a parallelepiped of neat faces, double height, with large windows, has been treated as the box containing the sticks’ game, covering it with wood from floor to ceiling and, filling it with Mikados scattered throughout the space. The main material could be no other than natural wood. They were used two tones, a lighter one for the box and, a darker one for Mikados, both in plane and volume. The colours palette accompanying the wood it is reduced to black and white, except for a few notes of grey and light toasted tones. The services zone, comprising reception, kitchen, pantry and toilets, is located in the longest and darker side of the box on the ground floor, leaving free and diaphanous the rest of the space. These micro-spaces are modelled following the rhythm of the scattered sticks over the floor, the tables, however, are placed among vertical Mikados and filling the free gaps on the floor.

In the facade transparent glass, framed in thin metal sheet white lacquer painted, is the main material, making the whole interior space into a showcase. At night, a strip of LEDs illuminates each of the frames. A long white metal and glass suspended box, serves as display

working spaces

This offices are located in an industrial unit of rectangular shape with two open plan floors, thanks to its structure of prefabricated concrete pillars and beams. Two faces have large windows, the other, however, are blind, so that the space has been distributed trying to make the most of natural light. The offices walls and meeting rooms facing the corridor are intended as a big zigzag lattice made of glass and MDF slats, which allow natural light leak even in the darkest areas, while endow circulation between corridors, offices and meeting or training rooms some privacy. Since the company not only provides financial outsourcing services 24 hours per day, but also offers for rent the use of its facilities to other companies, it has been thought in a neutral and elegant image, using soft, warm and highlight colours. In turn, it has made a wink at its industrial location, not covering concrete pillars and the floor, as well as the original concrete blocks.

Pillars, beams and concrete floors, have been left exposed. Two kind of walls surround the rooms, a glass and translucent vinyl skin is part of the lattice which allows the passage

of natural light into the darker areas. A second skin, composed of lacqued painted MDF wall panels with a bar-code pattern, unify and gives rhythm to the space, hiding in turn the mail area. The hint of colour is provided by the counter, finished in cherry wood, the lounge chairs, carpet and fitted carpet of waiting zones in toasted tones and the side tables and pendant lamp in anthracite and black tones.

53

The reception placed in a double high space, serves as a link with the top floor. The space has been divided into four different areas: counter, an open and a private waiting zone, to avoid unwanted crossing and mail zone.

Offices and corridors form a big glass and white slats zigzag folding screen/lattice. Its shape and path are enhanced in the ceiling by a subtle perimeter coving indirectly illuminated. White is the main colour. In the offices, the toasted tones from visitor chairs and ceiling around the soffit
