Oh Say, Can You See... THE STAR SPANGLED CLASSIC RETURNS JULY 4, 2012! Celebrate Independence Day with the Star Spangled Classic in Bishop Park! Enjoy live music, delicious food, great games and new this year, a Children’s Patriotic Parade! Kids ages 10 and younger are invited to decorate their tricycles, bicycles, and other non-motorized modes of transportation in the spirit of the holiday and “parade” through Bishop Park on the walking paths.

The parade through the park kicks off the evening’s activities at 5:30, and a spectacular fireworks display, presented by Athens First Bank and Trust tops the evening off at dark. In between, families and friends can enjoy live music, food, games and contests.. ART FOR ART’S SAKE... Each year, Lyndon House Arts Center (LHAC) presents continually changing art exhibitions in a wide range of media, styles and concepts. There is always so much variety in the five galleries that every visitor sees something that he or she will enjoy. All exhibitions are free and open to the public during LHAC operating hours, Tuesday and Thursdays from noon to 9:00 p.m., and Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In addition to the amazing galleries, LHAC offers a diverse selection of art classes fro adults, children, and teens, annual festival events including Harvest Festival and Lickskillet Artist Market, countless special events, a historic house museum, and gallery shop featuring items by more than 90 area artists. Turtle Show
This program will provide a chance to show off your pet turtles in a turtle show. Is your turtle the “Best in shell”? There will be seminars on the best ways to take care of turtles and the status of turtles around the world. 27th Annual Georgia Artists with Disabilities 2012 Winners
A touring exhibition comprised of ‘Best in Show’, ‘Distinguished Merit’ and ‘Honorable Mention’ award winners in the Georgia Artists with Disabilities Annual Juried Art Exhibition. Featuring 47 works by 37 artists from around the state, this exhibition includes drawings, fabric design, jewelry, metalsmithing, needlework, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, weaving and wood carving. Dolphins Swim Team
ACC Leisure Services will once again team up with the University of Georgia’s Athens Bulldog Swim Club to provide a fun, competitive coed swim program. The program focuses on learning, developing and improving various swim strokes. Swimmers must be able to swim the length of the Bishop Park pool to register. Practices are held Monday through Friday at the Bishop Park pool. AGES: 5 –18 (Age Control Prior to June 1, 2012)

Registration Fees:
Fees are due at the time of registration. Checks should be made payable to “Athens-Clarke County.”
Refund Policy:
• If a class or program is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment or other reason, ACC Leisure Services will issue a full refund to all registered individuals. • No refunds will be granted after the start of the program or class. Collected fees of less than $5 will not be refunded (unless the department cancels the program or class). • Refund requests must include a Refund Request Form and must be received no less than seven (7) business days prior to the first day of class or program. • Refunds will be assessed a 25% administrative fee. • After the seven (7) day deadline, refunds will not be granted without a written medical excuse from a licensed physician.

Scholarships
Any Athens-Clarke County resident under the age of 18 may apply for a scholarship. The Bishop Park Tennis Program offers a limited number of scholarships. A list of required documents to determine scholarship eligibility are available at www.athensclarkecounty.com/leisure or by calling 706-613-3800. Scholarships do not cover entrance, admission, rental fees, or adult programs. Parents must apply for a scholarship prior to the day of program registration. All scholarships expire June 30 and must be renewed.
Smoking Policy
Sec.4-3-2. Smoking Prohibited in Athens-Clarke County Facilities. Smoking shall be prohibited in all enclosed facilities of, including buildings owned, leased, operated by the Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County. Smoking shall be prohibited within the boundaries of any park, youth sports complex, or recreation area owned, leased, or operated by the Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County, including any open area within such park, youth sports complex, or recreation area.
