THE BRIEF
Highly regarded as the most innovative and inspirational interior design studio in London, Accouter Design was approached with a brief that required an interior that unveils opulence whilst reflecting the spectacular views of the city and the River Thames. As a showhome our brief was to attract buyers to the development and to maximise value and profile.
When in London, the occupants are known to indulge in Chelsea’s culture visiting London’s most prestigious exhibitions and galleries such as the Saatchi Gallery, Cadogan Contemporary and Proud. Eating at Rabbit, drinking at The Botanist, the occupants are imagined to have their own signature style; dressed in Vivienne Westwood and Stella McCartney, the pair are quirky yet chic.
As one of London’s most desirable residential addresses, the Chelsea Waterfront apartment valued at £7,400,000 is located a short walk from Imperial Wharf Station and Lots Road. Being on the doorstep of King’s Road, residents of this postcode are at the heart of all the finest cultural amenities that London has to offer.
Spanning an impressive 2800 sq.ft, the brief also outlined the interior must transform the vast space of the reception area into sections for entertainment, relaxation and to enjoy the view. Taking into account the history of the location, the value and opulence of the property and most importantly the uninterrupted views of the River Thames, the interior designers concluded the space must encapsulate the rich historical culture of London, showcase timeless pieces that reflect the value and the central theme running throughout must be water.
Accouter Design were provided with a brief to create a space that would appeal to international and domestic buyers alike, who have a connection to the culture and rich history of London. It was envisioned by the clients and the Accouter Design interior designers that the potential occupants would be well travelled, owning a number of properties overseas.
SQ.FT - 2,800 GUIDE PRICE - £7,400,000 LOCATION - CHELSEA, SW10
Understanding a client’s vision is at the forefront of a designer’s intention so its no surprise that, when designing original concepts for the Chelsea Waterfront Show Apartment a lot of time was taken to consider the lifestyle of the potential occupant.

THE CONCEPTS
After reviewing the initial conceptual design, the studio developed a richer, more unique take on the scheme. Through the use of sourcing antiques, artwork and delving into the history of the surrounding area they were able to create a strong design personality that would flow thoughout the whole property, ignite the interest of protential buyers, whilst exceeding the client’s brief.

THE FINAL DESIGN
Introducing, the chosen design concept for Chelsea Waterfront. Here we will look at some of the important elements of the design in greater detail. In the words of our designer, the personality of the show home must be that of sophisticated luxe riverside living. A sense of eclectic style using a mix of modern design statement pieces and local antiques creates a space that is comfortable, tailored and aspirational for the super prime buyer.

Entrance Upon entering the apartment at Chelsea Waterfront, you are exposed to the opulent entrance hall that carries you to the different areas of the property. The hallway is atmospheric with rich dark colours and textured walls that boast a bespoke antique mirror with distressed blue hues, mounted with glowing alabaster wall lights. Reflecting off the mirror and making a bold statement is two Adam Williams Design bespoke console tables that structure the space. Angular gold leaf bases are offset by soft carrara marble tops, dressed elegantly with reflective objet and greenery. A bespoke Helen Amy Murray leather panel depicting falling autmnal leaves with a mirrored frame, draws you down the hallway into the second and third bedrooms.

Grand double doors open to invite you into the grand reception room.
Dining Sectioning the space of the reception area is a grand glass dining table with dramatic emerald leather wrapped bases. The transparency of the glass was crucial in the chosen design to not distract from the panoramic views of the River Thames but to reflect and mimic the water. The dining table is a vintage inspired piece that accommodates twelve hand pleated lambs’ wool dining chairs that resemble the delicate ripples in the water.

The dining area was designed to be a convivial space to entertain friends and make memories with family. The designers sourced artisan pieces and antiques to create this scene for the occupants. Overlooking the grand glass dining table is a bespoke brass and hand blown Murano glass chandelier from Venice that shares a resemblance to a weaving vine. Each branch clasps onto droplets of blue and gold leaf glass globes.
Sideboard The sideboard is a 50’s inspired that has elegant curved edges to mirror the curve of the River Thames. The sideboard is a piano black high gloss lacquer with brass detailing and custom finish crackled eggshell doors. Artwork Above the sideboard is the artwork of a south east London artist, Tim Garwood who creates eclectic abstract art painted on glass. Tim was chosen by the designers as a contemporary take on pop art, going back to the history of the King’s Road in the swinging sixties. The artist is exhibited throughout the property to demonstrate the ethics of the potential occupants who would support up and coming British artists. Bar Trolley

To create a space for entertaining, the designers sourced an antique cocktail trolley which provides the finest gins, whiskeys and utensils required for a dinner party of twelve.
Seating To complete the journey around the reception room you are taken to the seating area, which is designed to be tranquil and harmonising. The elegant curves and natural tones of the sofa and chairs create a tranquil ambience which is complimented by the views of the water. The artisan coffee table is a feature piece in this space structured by three bespoke components inspired by pebbles. Accessorised with F. Scott Fitzgerald and Lalique ornaments, the living area was created to be a space where the occupants can lose themselves in fine literature and recline after dinner for drinks and scintillating conversation.

To keep water a central theme at day and night the designers designed bespoke ombre curtains, carefully choosing each gradient of colour to mirror the waves of water and essentially bringing the outside in.
Master Bedroom Upon entry into the master bedroom, the bespoke vintage inspired chairs, lit by an antique floor lamp draws you down to the window and more expansive views of the river. The upholstered headboard in complimentary hues is separated by brass inlays creating a glamourous feature wall, with mounted ripple effect wall lights glowing above the bespoke bedsides.

THE IMPORTANT ELEMENTS
The brief outlined that it was imperative the scheme appealled to international and domestic buyers. The Accouter Design interior designers sourced pieces to show the culture and rich history of London and more specifically, the borough of Chelsea. The following important elements were chosen to transform the vast space, reflect the value and oppulence and carry the theme of water throughout the property.
Water Mรถbius Love Seat
One key feature piece that fulfills the clients requirement from the brief is the Mรถbius love seat, a bespoke piece that represents the organic curves and flow of the River Thames.

Throughout the scheme, the theme of water is reflected in the tones, textures and shapes of the furniture and accessories.
The designers decided to use the concept of Mรถbius, a non-orientable strip that has one side and one edge to symbolise eternity. The Mรถbius seat is purposely positioned to utilise the prime viewing position of both the reception room and the River Thames, creating an idyllic setting for the occupants.

A key piece that influenced the design is the antique Murano glass chandelier that hangs delicately above the artisan coffee table in the seating area. Providing a subtle art-deco vibe, the piece is a third quarter twentieth century antique from Italy with a unique distinctive design attributed to Sciolari and Mazzega glass shades.

Artwork played a large part in the chosen design. To encapsulate the rich history of the Chelsea location, the Accouter Design designers took inspiration from the iconic King’s Road in the swinging sixties to source art. Using artists such as Hockney, Lichtenstein, Patrick Caullfield and Eduardo Paolozzi, there are elements of the Pop Art movement as well as British artists of past and present represented.
