“Casa S” a Bassano del Grappa Un nuovo suolo

L’edificio è l’ampliamento di una preesistenza ed è organizzato in due abitazioni distinte di modeste dimensioni, adagiate lungo il versante di una collina che si affaccia sulla città di Bassano del Grappa. I progettisti Silvia ed Enrico Longo, 28 e 30 anni, sono due fratelli provenienti dalla formazione in Ingegneria Edile-Architettura (Università di Trento). L’ingresso dei giovani progettisti sembra essere di buon auspicio per lo studio, rinominato “Studio3xL”: oltre ad aver vinto altri concorsi per tesi di laurea a livello nazionale e comunale, infatti, il loro primo progetto di nuova realizzazione residenziale, casa “S”, ha già riscosso un notevole successo e si è aggiudicato il secondo posto nel concorso “Live Outside The Box”, promosso da Agb e pubblicato sulla rivista Casabella. Le intenzioni La valorizzazione del contesto naturale e la gestione ambientale ed energetica sono elementi centrali del progetto: l’integrazione edificio-luogo è stata, in particolare, il concetto regolatore dell’intero iter progettuale, che si sviluppa a partire dai seguenti principi base: a) Raccordo pendio – copertura L’edificio è stato inserito adeguandosi sia in pianta che in sezione all’anfiteatro naturale costituito dal tratto semipianeggiante del pendio: il tetto piano, sistemato a giardino, si raccorda con il versante della collina, cosicché la copertura ne diventa un’estensione percorribile, dalla quale poter godere di ulteriori viste privilegiate sul panorama.

b) Orientamento a sud - il pendio e l’edificio, così da poter inserire degli ulteriori affacci. c) Viste orientate - la necessità di aperture verso est, permettendo così di creare un ambito di maggiore privacy per gli affacci dell’altra abitazione. d) Dispositivi bioclimatici - al fine di ottenere la massima prestazione energetica, la massima salubrità e sostenibilità dell’edificio, sono stati inseriti tutti gli accorgimenti bioclimatici ed ecologici compatibili con la tipologia architettonica. Tra i principali vi sono la corretta disposizione degli ambienti, l’utilizzo del tetto verde, il controllo del soleggiamento delle facciate tramite schermi fissi e mobili, la bussola come cuscinetto termico, la presenza di pozzi di luce, l’uso della vegetazione al fine del controllo microclimatico, il recupero delle acque piovane.

Il profilo basso dell’edificio, il tetto giardino e la scelta di materiali dal richiamo naturale amplificano la fusione con il paesaggio, facendo apparire l’intervento come un’increspatura abitata del terreno: tale continuità è massima se considerata dalla sommità della collina, dalla quale il progetto si percepisce più come il disegno di un giardino che quello di un edificio. 10

ECOCAPSULE - NICE ARCHITECTS

THE FIRST TRULY INDEPENDENT MICRO-HOME Ecocapsule is smart house powered by purely the solar and wind energy. It allows people to reach the frontiers with the luxury of the hotel room. It can serve as cottage, pop-up hotel or even as charging station for electric cars. Extended off-grid stay Ecocapsule is equipped with dual power production system bypassing periods of low energy production and massive battery capacity allowing to store surplus energy for later usage. Spherical shape of the Ecocapsule is carefully formed to maximize collection of the rain water and morning dew. Membrane water filters installed in the Ecocapsule are devised to purify 99,999% of the bacteria and rendering any natural water source suitable for drinking. Low-energy design

Spherical shape of the Ecocapsule was purposely designed to minimize energy losses. Hollow walls filled with hi-performance thermal insulation are protecting inhabitants from harsh environment and helping to achieve near passive house performance. Low consumption system and energy recuperation are helping to reduce energy consumption and extend life span. Easy mobility Ecocapsule is optimized for easy transportation. It can fit into standard shipping container therefore it can be easily shipped globally with lowest shipping fees possible. Mobility of the Capsule can be extended via additional undercarriage which will turn Ecocapsule to the fully functioning caravan.

Snøhetta, zeb pilot house Plus House Larvik is a pilot project on a family house out of the ordinary. By optimizing architectural qualities and technological solutions, the house serves both the living and energy needs of a family house, in addition to generating enough energy surpluses to power an electric car year-round. The house is the result of a collaboration between the architecture and design firm Snøhetta, Scandinavia’s largest independent research body SINTEF, Zero Emission Building (ZEB) partner Brødrene Dahl, and Optimera. The project describes a single family house, however, the building is primarily intended for use as a demonstration platform to facilitate learning. The house in the garden has a characteristic tilt towards southeast and a sloping roof surface clad with solar panels and collectors. These elements, together with geothermal energy from energy wells in the ground, serve the energy need for the house. The project has a strong focus on retaining homelike qualities through non-quantifiable properties. Emotive comfort and sense of wellbeing have governed the design process to the same extent as energy demands. Daylight, views, and contact with landscape and outdoor space are reconciled with the need for balancing sealed walls and windows. Heating and cooling is solved passively through placement of glass surfaces, orientation, house geometry, and volume. Materials

have been chosen based on thermal characteristics and embodied energy, but also on the basis of their ability to contribute to a good indoor climate, air quality, and aesthetic qualities.

cASA IN ARIA HOMEAIR HOMEAIR - DEMONSTRATIVE FORM FOR TECNONART 2015 Living deep in nature, in complete harmony with the elements of the area and respecting the environment where we spend our time for meditation are the fundamental principles that brought to the realization of this house among trees. The rooms forming this house among trees are first of all places where to refuge yourself from nature, but at the same time where to rest and enjoy it fully. Opaque walls grant refuge from environment and at the same time they invite visitors to guide their look towards the ample glass wall of the main faรงade. From there, they can observe pure or suggestive landscapes, depending on the location where the small and lightweight above-ground house is placed. This side of the house is completely transparent and this aspect approaches guests to nature and makes them feel involved in flora and fauna, so that they can live a rich life experience, full of all the emotions and pleasures that only a natural and pure environment can transmit. A great attention to environment and nature is highlighted by the choice of the main building materials and the building system with dry-stone that allows to move the artifact in every moment, without leaving any trace of its existence, so that the location can be the same as it was before the intervention. For this reason, walls and attics are fully wooden and covered in reused pallet and the walls are made up of varnished larch wood. With time passing by, the covering wood will get old and its color will change, so its integration with the surrounding environment will increase. Rough and vibrant exteriors contrast inside rooms, that are extremely linear, simple and colorful. During the contemporary art exhibition Tecnonart, the interior arrangement of the demonstrative form invites the visitor to meditation. Inside the two volumes that are staggered in plan and elevation there is, in the biggest one, a little room where to meditate with two little armchairs and this overlooks the ancient and quiet courtyard of the aristocrat house hosting the exhibition and a space 52

for body wellness that was built and covered by natural stones. IN THREE MOVEMENTS TO THREE THEMES – A REPORT PLAYING AROUND The new Haus der Musik (House of Music) in Innsbruck will re-zone one of historic Innsbruck’s most important focal points and articulate it as a pulsating, living space of culture. The starting point for the reflections on how to clearly articulate this culture district was the historic urban situation around 1800. At that time the Hofburg was connected to the Redoutensäle, which stood on the site of the Haus der Musik, by a building known as the “Hofgangbau”. The effect of this was that the present-day Universitätsstraße was clearly defined as a street and the present day Rennweg, which at the time was correctly still called Renn-Platz, was defined as a Platz or public square. This legible structure was gradually lost from 1844 onwards, but today can be used to legitimise an urban planning measure that enables these two urban spaces to be more keenly and more clearly experienced. The urban importance of the Hofkirche as the southern terminating element of Rennplatz is emphasised. Its eastern edge can be projected to the edge of the Hofgarten, marking a clear line that unambiguously allocates an empty area, Rennplatz, to the Hofburg. To the east of this line we encounter a “settled” site whose previous “actors” line up individual areas beside each other in an almost playful way and relate them to each other. This aspect is strengthened by the new components, but also refined. This is where the individual institutions of the culture district 80

and their respective public spaces are laid out The Museum of Tyrolean Regional Heritage makes the start and, for the first time, obtains an adequate public forecourt that splays outwards in the direction of the Hofburg. The restaurant wing of the new Haus der Musik frames this public space, its position inspired by the former Hofgangbau but restrained by the lines implied by the Hofkirche. The new building creates its own new, spatially defined forecourt, the centre of which is marked by the Leopoldbrunnen (fountain). The neo-classical facade of the Landestheater already defines in a very lovely way the front area belonging to it, which now becomes part of a series of such spaces. The new cube on the front area of the Landestheater stands exactly on the line defined by the Hofkirche and through its function contributes to making this a lively district. Finally, the Hofgarten forms the northern termination. The three existing trees are incorporated as natural monuments in the new sequence of public spaces, as if they had been planted especially. The black pine marks the new forecourt of the Museum of Tyrolean Regional Heritage, while the fastigiata oak tree and the copper beech are each positioned at a focal point of an imagined ellipse which, with the Leopoldbrunnen at its centre, formulates the forecourt of the Haus der Musik.

PLAYING IN The new Haus der Musik in Innsbruck will introduce an entirely new urban user level – for both tourists and residents alike. An upward sloping plane will create an outdoor public space of a kind that has never existed here before. This plane develops on the roof of the foyer and can be reached from the two arms of the building that enfold the forecourt. In a sense this creates a public spectator stand for an open air auditorium with the panorama from the Hofburg to the Nordkette mountain range as a backdrop, which also leads past spectacular viewers into the foyer area and up to the entrance to the public library. PLAYING THROUGH As an open building the new Haus der Musik in Innsbruck can accompany the flow of passers-by from Universitätstraße to Rennweg into and through the building. The foyer zone is situated in front of the building in such a way that, on the one hand, it offers a short cut between the points Landestheater and the end of Angerzellgasse, and on the other can incorporate an attractive relationship to outdoor space in the direction of the Hofburg. Concert and theatre visitors reach the auditoria via curved, spatially complex staircases, which lead down to the Kammerspiele and the Black Box and up to the large and small concert halls.
