INTERIOR DESIGN REVIEW

GREGORY MELLOR

Designer: Gregory Mellor. Company: Gregory Mellor Design, Cape Town, South Africa. The studio’s design input spans creative direction, interior architecture, decorating and landscape consultation, predominantly for residential and hospitality. Current projects include a Manhattan apartment overlooking the East River, a contemporary tented safari lodge in the Kalahari, and a traditional family home in Constantia, Cape Town. Recent work includes an eclectic and colourful Edwardian villa in Cape Town, a tropical inspired private beach residence in Central America, and a family home in the Cape Winelands. Design philosophy: authentic, considered yet somewhat eclectic, to reflect the way our clients want to live.

Designer: Kelly Hoppen. Company: Kelly Hoppen Interiors, London, UK. A renowned firm, helmed by the eponymous designer Kelly Hoppen. With a career spanning over four decades and numerous prestigious awards and accolades, Hoppen is one of the most sought after designers in the world. With an extensive portfolio of projects including commercial spaces, private homes, turnkey properties, superyachts, private jets and 5 star hotels. Recent work includes 5 star Lux* Grand Baie hotel in Mauritius, Sirius luxury residences on Sydney Harbour, and a private home in London. Current projects include the total rebuild of three private residences in Miami, a private mansion in Los Angeles, a luxury hotel and collection of residences in Tel-Aviv, and the Lanai Island luxury villas in Tilal Al Ghaf, Dubai. Design philosophy: to deliver tranquil, comfortable, sophisticated spaces that seamlessly integrate form and function.

Designer: David Yu. Company: Matrixing, Shanghai, China. Launched in 2010, specialising in innovative real estate design. Current projects include a public meeting room at a transport hub in Shenzhen, a residential showroom in Chengdu, and a retail store for a technology brand. Recent work includes an o ce headquarters for a young company in Shenzhen, a medical clinic in Shenzhen, and a concept showroom for a furniture brand in Dongguan. Design philosophy: innovative thinking in line with the times.

MICHELLE NUSSBAUMER

Designer: Michelle Nussbaumer.

Company: Michelle Nussbaumer, Dallas, Texas, USA. An award winning interior and product designer with a passion for creating timeless spaces inspired by the farthest reaches of the globe, Michelle founded the furniture line, Ceylon et Cie, a brand musing on Old World inspirations that are e ortlessly at home in uniquely modern spaces. Recent projects include a mid century modern family home in Seattle, a large Tudor home in Dallas with traditional interiors mixed with contemporary art, and a ranch home in Plano, Texas for two art collectors and world travellers. Current work includes a Mayan inspired compound with terraces and walled gardens in an urban Texas setting, a traditional carriage house, turned bachelor pad in the heart of the French quarter of New Orleans, and a new build lake home with English and Moroccan influences, in Long Cove, Texas. Design philosophy: passionate about setting the stage for adventurous lives to be lived.

STEFANO DORATA

Designer: Stefano Dorata. Company: Studio Dorata, Rome, Italy. An architectural practice working on apartments, hotels, villas and yachts, in Europe, North and South America, the Middle and Far East. Current projects include an apartment overlooking the sea in Naples, a nineteenth century family house in Rome, and an apartment near Central Park in New York. Recent work includes a villa in the Pienza contryside, a home in Tel Aviv, and an apartment overlooking river Tevere in Rome. Design philosophy: to find the thrill element in every project.

X+LIVING

Designer: Li Xiang. Company: X+Living, Shanghai, China. Specialising in commercial, o ce and hospitality, to create theatrical and dream like spaces with story-telling charm to engage the senses. Current work includes several parent-child entertainment projects, bookstores and a kindergarten in the South of China. Recent work includes Shenzhen Zhongshuge bookstore in Shenzhen, Popmart global flagship store in Shanghai and Changsha Fundolandπ Design philosophy: to seek a new paradigm in future design to amaze.

ELICYON

Designer: Charu Gandhi. Company: Elicyon, London, UK. A global interior design and architecture studio. Recent projects include a Grade II listed Regency home overlooking Regent’s Park, and a show apartment within the iconic Old War O ce in Whitehall as part of its major five year transformation. Current work includes a house in Belgravia, a family home in St John’s Wood, and an apartment on Regent’s Crescent. Elicyon is also working on a special jewellery atelier due to launch in 2024. Beyond the UK, the team is busy with commissions including the redesign of a grand New York mansion, a Miami waterfront home, three villas in the Middle East, and a villa in Dubai. Design philosophy: considered, curated and characterful spaces underpinned by an unrivalled dedication to detail.

JENNIFER GARRIGUES

Designer: Jennifer Garrigues. Company: Jennifer Garrigues Interior Design, Palm Beach, FL, & New York City, USA. Predominantly residential projects, alongside Jennifer’s own retail shop in Palm Beach, featuring antiques, accessories and furniture collected from around the world. Recent work includes a newly built home for a bi coastal couple with a love for bold tilework in North Palm Beach, a new Caribbean style home near the water, and a penthouse with stunning views of the golf course and ocean, both in Palm Beach. Current projects include a 12,000 sq. ft.

DONNA MONDI

Designer: Donna Mondi. Company: Donna Mondi, Denver, CO, USA. An acclaimed interior and product designer with o ces in both Chicago and Denver, and projects coast to coast. Recent work includes a modern Bauhaus residence in Denver, a 1920’s co-op remodel in the historic Gold Coast neighbourhood of Chicago, and a city sanctuary for a global power couple in the iconic Tribune Tower residences in Chicago. Current projects include a modern, new construction home in Grand Rapids, Michigan, a mediterranean renovation on Lake Austin in Texas, and a vacation home in Palm Beach for legacy clients. Design philosophy: avant-garde, bespoke and seductive interiors which reflect the clients’ lifestyles, vision and taste.

CHI CHENPING

Designer: Chi Chenping. Company: Ontology Lab, Zhejiang, China. Commited to unique, customised private residential and commercial space design. Current projects include a villa estate in Jiuxi Rose Garden, Hangzhou, a garden villa in Shangrao, Jiangxi, a large modern residence in Zhuji, and several villas in Yangming Valley, Hangzhou. Recent work includes Zhuji Yize Xinjiang Mansion club, Shenzhen Bay Xinxi o ce design, and a residential villa in Fuyang. Design philosophy: to connect past civilizations, stories and lifestyles to the present, across time and space.

BIRGIT KLEIN

Designer: Birgit Klein. Company: Birgit Klein Interiors, California, USA. Specialising in luxury, bespoke homes in the USA and internationally, including primary and secondary residences, ranging from new construction to renovations. Current projects include several homes in Montecito, California, including a beachfront property, a six acre horse ranch in Santa Ynez, and a large family home in Brentwood, Los Angeles. Recent work includes residences in Beverly Hills, The Hamptons and Montecito. Design philosophy: authentic, understated, and lifestyle driven interiors that embrace nature.

PATSY BLUNT

Designer: Patsy Blunt. Company: Patsy Blunt Interiors, Surrey, UK. An award winning interior design practice specialising in luxury residential homes across the UK and worldwide. Current projects include a 10,000 sq. ft. new build in the West Midlands, a large renovation project with guest house in Hertfordshire, and a modern mansion block in St Johns Wood. Recent work includes a cli side villa in the South of France, a major residential home on the Wentworth Estate, and a luxury townhouse in Surrey. Design philosophy: to create bespoke homes, tailored to the requirements, lifestyle and budget of each client.

LANDAU + KINDELBACHER

Designer: Gerhard Landau & Ludwig Kindelbacher. Company: Landau + Kindelbacher Architekten Innenarchitekten GmbH, Munich, Germany. At the interface of architecture and interior design, finding solutions across all disciplines including listed buildings and new builds. Current projects range from the headquarters of international companies, to residential areas and private penthouses. Design philosophy: architecture is an individual expression of perfection.
