Pablo Piatti is one of the official purveyors to Geoffroy Van Hulle’s court. The Argentinian artist creates monumental mural commissions that bring nature indoors in all of its glory. Piatti’s in situ works of art are poetic tattoos for the home— their composition, themes, and color palettes are perfectly attuned to Van Hulle’s decors. It’s a masterful alliance, elevating interior design to an art.
Structured overdose
‘Less is more.’ The modernist adage of architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe is hardly Geoffroy Van Hulle’s personal motto.
‘I much prefer more is more,’ he explains.
‘I’ve tried so often to take a minimalist approach to interior design. But it feels unnatural. I suffer from a kind of horror vacui: I love overflowing interiors where there’s something to be seen in every corner. I like to call that ‘structured overdose.’ Letting emptiness fill the space: that philosophy is lost on me,’ he says. You’d be hard-pressed to describe his style as Spartan. Van Hulle subscribes to the tradition of grand decorateurs whose interiors tell a hundred stories.
