THE C A RDS

THE VIRGIN

Who I am

I am the Moon on the fourth night, a small crescent in the darkness, a magical slice of light. In me the buds of ideas are dozing, about to open.

What I show you, what I see

In the woods, the goddess of the hunt rests. Artemis’s beauty resembles mine as I cradle the wind blowing through the branches. On the slope there is a lonely girl. She stops to admire a newborn daffodil. Innocent and serene like that flower, she is enough for herself. Her name is Korah (Κόρη) and she knows no fear. She doesn’t notice Hades, the infernal king, spying on her from behind the bushes

My suggestion

In you I represent what is untouched, the purity that feeds on ideals. To make an intent grow and transform the virgin idea into action, you will have to pay attention to the danger that lurks in the shadows, to the snake hidden in the grass.

Who I am

THE BRIDE

I am the Moon on the fourteenth night, the juice of the ripe fruit, the bride in her refulgent whiteness.

What I show you, what I see

In the most beautiful room of an ancient palace, Shūlammīṭ opens her eyes to life. It’s now. It’s time. Ready for love, she is the woman from the Song of Songs, of whom the husband Sun says: “Your lips are like a scarlet thread, your mouth is gracious; your cheeks, behind the veil, are like pomegranates.” The groom bows to the lush bride, whispering “You are so beautiful, my friend, and there is no flaw in you.” However, the union, we know, will take place on a new moon.

My suggestion

To appreciate a special moment, in which you feel in perfect harmony with yourself, keep impermanence in mind, the secret ingredient in every bite of happiness, and train the necessary patience while waiting for the next enjoyment.

THE MAENAD

Who I am

I am the Moon on the nineteenth night: I have passed the peak; I have enjoyed my roundness. I resemble the actress who is preparing to leave the stage but forgets her veil.

What I show you, what I see

Ancient music plays in the clearing. The party still does not die down, but the tired Maenads are already approaching the fire. I spot some of them lying limply in front of the bonfire. The god of intoxication laughs and instills in the happy company a new pulsating desire that arouses hilarity and frenzy. Dionysus lights up a song in the women that reaches every corner of the forest and captivates those who listen to it.

My suggestion

Every time you prolong ecstasy by dragging pleasures beyond their limit, you know that enjoyment will be followed by nausea, and then you must be ready to bear the consequences of your every action.

THE FRUITFUL

Who I am

Lush, I live in the July sky, I fly over the fields of golden crops. I spend my nights combing Berenice’s hair while I chat with Vega, the bright star that will be the new Polaris.

What I show you, what I see

The Empress of the Tarot, Demeter with breasts overflowing with milk, sits on the wheat throne. Queen of summer, she works at her peak, giving birth for you what you yourself have sown over time. Her favorite colors are the red of the root chakra, Muladhara, the powerful orange of Svadhisthana, the vital yellow of Manipura.

My suggestion

Do not fear the life force, the pinnacle of your earthly power. At the same time, take the opportunity to contemplate the opposite poles, because there is a stone that sleeps inside the juicy peach that you bite into. Each new seed will need winter to create the future.

Who I am

THE UNION

They are the precious Secret of the Great Work. I show you the sacred marriage that unites the Moon to the Sun. The marriage between opposites is the central symbol in the alchemical process, when the Androgyne, the Rebis, is recomposed through the mercurial fluid that makes the two become the One.

What I offer

I regenerate your vital energy, I guide you to the dynamic balance between the aspects of yourself that you have sometimes perceived as in conflict. I realize your potential, your being yourself, I lead you to your center, to completeness.

What you can do/Secret practice

Breathe. Let the air enter through your nostrils, imagining it becoming a silvery light. Concentrate on the left side: the silver air illuminates you and your left eye becomes the full Moon. Now it is a golden light that enters you and goes to clean and energize the right side. The right eye becomes the Sun, warm and reassuring. Say the words: the spouses love each other in me.
