IN FULL HARMONY
The designers of Villabouw Sels NV determine the design and layout of the outside environment. The organization of the garden, swimming pool, outbuildings and pavements have been the subject of a separate study from the start of the designs. The greatest concern is the harmony between the home and its surroundings, with particular attention being paid to the experience of nature around when one is staying in the house. The goal is elegant interplay and balance between environment and buildings. They must reinforce each other and, above all, not be in competition. In consultation with the client, it is then determined which performers are best suited to realize the design. Their knowledge and craftsmanship naturally reinforces all insights. Their expertise in the selection and processing of plants and materials is essential.

PRIVATE HOUSE - MALLORCA
This new built home is located on the sunny island of Mallorca. Ten minutes from the airport, overseeing the bay of Palma and positioned right on the edge of a 100m cliff. It fuses modern architecture with traditional materials and local stone finishes. The plot lies on the first line to the sea and to reduce the impact on the landscape, firm building laws in Spain only allowed a single storey construction. To break up the large floor plan of 10,000 sqft the house has been designed so that rooms within became individual buildings, separated by gardens and linked by walkways. The pool has an angled edging strip in a local stone and a grey mosaic with grey grout under the water. At the end it features an infinity detail extending the view over the pool’s water into the sea. There is a 3 bedroom outbuilding for guests and a single half buried pavilion perched at the edge of the cliff, providing unparalleled views of the sun disappearing behind Palma. Local architect’s partners were CMV and garden designer Stephen Woodham.
