Their amazement was complete when they entered the building, surrounded by old farms.

It was a soaring space awash in light. Countless elements worth keeping, and a wide range of options for dividing the space in original and imaginative ways. The conversion from a former cinema into a functional residence became a renovation process seeking a beautiful balance between the old and the new. The maroon curtains are still there, although they are now part of the kitchen, while the orange sign above the entrance has become the name plate. Several lovely design objects have been added to the interior, with a humoristic note here and there. What was once the theatre is now the living room. The ‘lounge loft’, as they now call the open space under the roof, is the relaxation area, as well as the spot where the plants in this house are kept: concentrated in a few square metres, with a huge impact on the rest of the house. The large Swiss cheese plant is partly responsible for that, as is the fiddle-leaf fig, which often grows to a tremendous size. They combine beautifully with the hanging plant which has been draped on the entresol, with ample room to grow.
