A series of one hour workshops for Early Years Professionals/ Practitioners providing an insight into related issues. Delivered by John Bartlett, Children’s Centre Teacher and Early Years Professional. £5 per person per workshop. Behaviour Management 23rd January, 4:30pm - 5:30pm Ideas I bet you all knew but didn’t give time to work. Schema Play 20th February, 4:30pm - 5:30pm Insight into the basic layouts of schema play and a chance to share ideas to support schema in learning. Brain Development 19th March, 4:30pm - 5:30pm A look into how the brain works on a basic level to ensure the terrible 2’s are an interesting part of growing up, or why behaviour is sometimes uncontrollable by young children.

Alcohol and Substance Misuse Seminars
Drug Policy and Practice Accrington and Rossendale College present a series of two hour workshops on the dates below. £15 per person per workshop. Harm Reduction 31st January, 10am - 12pm Mike Linnel Communications Director Lifeline. The Recovery Agenda 31st May 2012, 10am - 12pm Mark Gilman National Recovery Lead NTA.
MHFA - Adult and Youth Mental Health First Aid Courses MHFA training is an intensive course, delivered over two days. The courses are aimed at those without specialist mental health training but who might encounter mental health issues in the course of their work. Delivered by qualified MHFA instructors the training provides information, tools and techniques to promote mental and emotional wellbeing and to enable participants to support adults an young people who might be experiencing mental and emotional distress.

Dementia Awareness Information Afternoon

Announces Best Fees In Pennine Lancashire £5,900 Full-time Fees - £2,950 Part-time Fees Accrington and Rossendale College’s Higher Education Centre is pleased to announce that our Higher Education fees for 2012 entrants will be the best in the area, allowing more people to access top quality higher education courses in Lancashire. In addition to outstanding fees, we are also introducing a number of initiatives designed to help students get the most out of their experience with us. For full time students these include: • •

By Telephone If you wish to pay your fees by credit or debit card, enrolments can be processed over the phone. Please ring (01254) 354354 during normal office hours.
Please note all credit/debit card enrolments must be confirmed by signing and returning the learner agreement form within two weeks of the telephone enrolment. Any enrolments that are not confirmed will be withdrawn from the course. We regret that instalments cannot be arranged through the postal enrolment service.
Payment of Fees After completing your enrolment form you will need to pay any outstanding fees such as tuition, examination fees and material. Accrington and Rossendale College are happy to accept cash, credit cards or cheques. If your fees are to be paid by your employer via an invoice, you will need to provide the College with written evidence of this on your employer’s letter headed notepaper.

To qualify for free tuition you must provide evidence that you receive one of the listed benefits.
Instalments
Free Learning
If your course fees are greater than £100 there is an option to pay in instalments or by standing order.
Any learner wishing to study their first full level two qualification is entitled to have their tuition fees remitted.
Financial Help
Adults aged over 19 years but less than 25 years wishing to study their first full Level 3 qualification are entitled to have their tuition fees remitted.
If you do not qualify for fee remission, but will still struggle to pay for your course, or you need help with childcare expenses or purchasing equipment, it is possible you will receive financial help through the Discretionary Learner Support Fund. We recommend students apply to the Learner Support Fund as early as possible as funds are limited and demand is always extremely high. Please contact our Student Finance Team on (01254) 354031/2 for an application form.
Discretionary Learner Support Fund If you’re a learner in financial need and want help with the costs of your studies, you can apply for Discretionary Learner Support. You have to apply directly to your college or learning provider. Each college or learning provider has its own application process. Priority will be given to students who are most in need.
Any learner claiming their first full level qualification without having a full level 3 qualification are entitled to have their tuition fees remitted.
Refund Policy Students will not be eligible for refunds if they decide to stop attending their course. Students can receive a full refund if their course is cancelled by the College, they suffer a long term illness, or a formal complaint is made and upheld. Students may withdraw from a course before it commences, but there will be a £15 administration fee. You may appeal against any refund decisions in writing to the Team Leader of Student Service / Exams, Sandra Turner, who will review the case.

Accrington and Rossendale College, in partnership with Rhyddings Business and Enterprise School, are undertaking an exciting new venture to launch a new Studio School in Hyndburn. It will be the first of its kind in the area, and is due to open in September 2012 The school for 14-19 year olds will offer you the chance to be a part of a new, select community where everyone has a common goal of getting started on their career pathway whilst still at school so that you can leave education with years of work experience and skills behind you.
