On Your Doorstep is a very special opportunity to catch a symphony orchestra in the intimate surroundings of your local arts theatre. Former concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic, Guy Braunstein will be exploring Tchaikovsky’s beautiful Violin Concerto alongside the orchestra. Written in the aftermath of a disastrous marriage, Tchaikovsky’s work captures both excitement and melancholy. Similarly, Schumann’s Second Symphony was written at a time of great personal turmoil, apparent in the piece’s ferocious emotional intensity.

CONAL GALLEN BACK TO FRONT
Fri 1 Mar | 8.00pm | £12.00
Fri 1 - Sat 2 Mar | 8.00pm | £22.50
Anthony Toner [once memorably described as ‘James Taylor meets John Prine in a second hand book shop’], makes a welcome return to The Market Place Theatre for an intimate concert to celebrate the release of his ninth album, ‘Our Lady of the Wind and Rain’.
When it comes to comedians, there is none better or funnier than the king himself, Conal Gallen! Conal is bringing his brand new stand-up comedy show, ‘Back To Front’ to the stage this spring.
Since the release of the hugely popular single ‘Sailortown’ ten years ago, Anthony has been constantly in forward motion, releasing a string of popular albums and playing countless live performances, where his between-song storytelling and patter have become just as much part of the show as the music. Along the way he has chalked up a string of memorable songs, including ‘Well Well Well’, ‘The Duke Of Oklahoma’, ‘East of Louise’, and recently ‘An Alphabet’, a moving song inspired by his father’s Alzheimer’s condition. Expect an evening of peerless guitar playing, great stories and songs old and new. This event takes place in our Studio Theatre with an unreserved, cabaret-style seating layout.
Packed full of hilarious jokes, songs and a few surprises for good measure, it is guaranteed to have audiences in fits of laughter from the very start right through to the very end! And as always, audiences can expect the unexpected, because, as usual, no one knows what he is going to come out with next [not even Conal!] There is a reason why Conal Gallen has won more awards than any other Irish comedian EVER, it’s simple, it’s because he truly is the best! SARAH JANE SCOUTEN At age 5, Sarah Jane Scouten was singing ‘Lace and Pretty Flowers’, by Canadian countryfolk musician, Willie P. Bennett, and Hank Williams and Stan Rogers were her greatest inspirations. Her talent for performing came naturally, and as chance would have it, so emerged a knack for songwriting. Bringing us up to date, Sarah Jane Scouten is an internationally renowned songwriter, loved by audiences across the Northern Hemisphere. With flavours of Lucinda Williams, Nanci Griffiths and Iris Dement, the three-time Canadian Folk Music Award nominee and Western Canadian Music Award nominee’s songs are faithful to a long-standing folk music tradition. GREASE
LETTING GO OR LOSING IT?
In their first full-length musical production, Building Bridges Community Arts Theatre presents an ‘electrifying’ production of one of the world’s best-loved shows, ‘Grease’. With a talented cast of local people this is sure to be a show you won’t want to miss. It’s the original high-school musical spanning over forty years, with an unforgettable Rock ‘n’ Roll soundtrack from the hit movie including ‘You’re The One That I Want’, ‘Greased Lightnin’, ‘Sandy’, ‘Summer Nights’ and many more. So dust off those leather jackets and get ready to hand jive the night away, because Grease is still the word. A-wop-bop-a-loo-bop A-wop-bam-boom! Presented by one of Northern Ireland’s leading amateur theatre groups.
If you’re gliding gracefully towards the second half of your life, maybe this isn’t the show for you. But if you want reassurance that you’re not the only one struggling with all the things life throws at you, step right up! Weight gain, menopause, bereavement and becoming invisible - just some of the joys that await the woman of a certain age! Throw in disappearing libido, Donald Trump and comfy shoes and the picture gets even more depressing. Everything’s heading south and there’s no border to stop the slide. What to do? Lie down and take it [at least that makes your
stomach look flatter] or stand up and laugh? Nuala McKeever gives both a go in her hilarious new show as she transforms the awful into the awfully funny, by way of her trademark wit and compassion. Suitable for men and women and those who define as both or neither. Suitable for age 18+. May contain material that some people may find offensive. This event takes place in our Studio Theatre with an unreserved, cabaretstyle seating layout.

Life is simply a string of moments, individually placed, one in front of another. So often, we can only see one at a time. That moment which shouts and screams and jumps around, demanding our attention. Focusing on that moment, you may feel like you can’t breathe...or that you don’t want to. But another moment is coming. A moment that doesn’t scream or shout but one that slips into your life when you aren’t looking. One that pulls up a chair and makes itself at home, waiting for you to notice it. A moment worth breathing for. Hold on for that moment. ‘Swamped’ is an original piece of theatre exploring Mental Health and its profound effects. Young people are drowning in this unspoken epidemic which is flooding our nation. This event takes place in our Studio Theatre with an unreserved, tiered seating layout.
