UP IN THE AIR, DOWN TO THE EARTH - A SOLO EXHIBITION BY PATRICIA MURPHY FRI 8 Dec 2017 - SAT 20 Jan 2018 | GALLERY
THE FALL OF INNOCENCE RAYLEEN CLANCY Fri 10 Nov 2017 - Sat 6 Jan 2018 | FOYER WALLS The work aims to illustrate the human desire for happiness in a tempestuous world in which one contends not only with external evil forces but also with internal weaknesses. The setting of these struggles are alternate or parallel worlds. These worlds are neither from the past, present or future but intend to challenge the concept of linear time. The paintings invite the viewer to reflect on their own inner fears and desires and their place in the proposed irregularity of a space | time continuum.
These new paintings and textiles play with space, illusion and balance. Driven by the contradiction of creating movement and finding stillness this contemporary, abstract work uses colour as a way to visualise the energy of nature. Visual artist Patricia Murphy has been working in the area of paintings, contemporary rugs and textiles for over 20 years. She has created a significant body of exhibition and commissioned work. Patricia‘s work has been exhibited internationally including in the UK, France, USA, Germany, Italy and Finland. In 2013 and 2015 she represented Ireland in the Sant’Antioco Biennale of Painting in Sardinia. www.patriciamurphyartist.com | www.facebook.com/patriciamurphy
