Knowledge Power Information History The RDS Group designed (structural, chemical, electrical and instrumentation) and installed over 100 oil rigs and vessels, moving into fabrication in 1980 and software development in 1986. RDS computerized their drafting processes leading to the automatic detailing of rig structures. This revolutionary 3D modeling technology was quickly commercialized through AceCad Software for steel building structures and construction.

AceCad was incorporated in 1986 and pioneered 3D modeling on today’s desktop PC’s.

Moving into the management of information from 3D models in 1988 with GoData - the forerunner of the StruM.I.S management information system, the RDS Group was also involved in manufacturing systems for the automobile industry and incorporated this knowledge to deliver best practice manufacturing processing for the steelwork construction industry.

AceCad now focuses on applying our unique knowledge of managing the data in 3D models and from BIM for the construction supply chain through our BIMReview and BIMProject products, alongside our dedicated StruM.I.S suite for steelwork fabrication. Headquartered in Derby, UK, AceCad develops and supplies a range of software for construction & project management, and steelwork fabrication, together with detailing engineering services, technical support and training resource provision.
