DESTINATIONS & DIVERSIONS
Talented comic, singer, comedian, actor plays Caesars On Christmas Day 2012, Quentin Tarantino’s western, “Django Unchained,” hits the screens. The film tells the story of a slave-turned-bounty hunter who sets out to rescue his wife from a brutal Mississippi plantation owner. Jamie Foxx plays the lead character in the film that also stars Kerry Washington, Samuel L. Jackson, Sacha Baron Cohen, Christoph Waltz and Leonardo DiCaprio. Acting is just one front Foxx has conquered. He is not resting on his considerable laurels. The Oscar winner sings, tells jokes and hosts his own radio show — “The Foxxhole” — on satellite. All of that talent comes East July Fourth weekend when Foxx again hosts “Foxxhole Radio Celebrity Weekend” throughout Caesars Entertainment casino hotels. “Last year was a big success, so it makes a lot of sense to bring it back this year,” said Jason Spencer, regional director of entertainment for Caesars Entertainment Atlantic City. Spencer, along with the folks at Foxxhole, examined what resonated a year ago and developed that. Fans will get to experience the multifaceted entertainer as he performs two comedy shows at Circus Maximus at Caesars, hosts on-air broadcasts and celebrates the holiday weekend at clubs throughout the hotels. On July 5, Foxx will host his radio show from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Palladium Ballroom at Caesars with Billy Sorrells, Luenell, Gary Owen and Bill Bellamy. He appears at the Circus Maximus from 8 to 10 p.m. “The Foxxhole” comedy show also features Bellamy, Luenell, Tony Rock and Owen. On July 6, the Palladium Ballroom will host the “Dr. Mitch” show from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and “Bossip” from 2 to 2:30 p.m. Jamie Foxx returns with Foxxhole Radio from 3 to 5 p.m., with Lavell Crawford and Donell Rawlings as his guests. “The Foxxhole” comedy show returns to Circus Maximus from 8 to 10 p.m. with Crawford, Rawlins

Foxxhole Comedy Jam, hosted by Jamie Foxx will be held July 5 and 6 at the Circus Maximus Theater at Caesars. PHOTO PROVIDED and Rob Stapleton. Foxx will host the after party at the Pool After Dark in Harrah’s Resort beginning at 11 p.m. Born Eric Bishop and raised in Terrell, Texas, Foxx was 15 when he served as musical director and choir leader at the New Hope Baptist Church. His music took him to California when he received a classical piano scholarship to U.S. International University in San Diego. He got his start in show business in 1989 when he tried his hand at standup on a dare at an open-mic night. After realizing the women who signed up for these tryouts were always selected, he used different unisex names with hopes of getting stage time. After bringing down the house as “Foxx”, he gave up on Eric Bishop. Later on the comedy circuit, Foxx joined Keenan Ivory Wayans, Jim Carrey, Damon Wayans and Tommy Davidson in
the landmark series “In Living Color,” creating some of the show’s funniest and most memorable moments. In 1996, he launched his own series, “The Jamie Foxx Show,” which ran for five years. He received critical acclaim for films like “Any Given Sunday,” “Ali,” “Ray,” “Collateral” and “Redemption.” For his portrayal of Ray Charles, he won the Oscar, as the Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild, BAFTA and NAACP Image awards. He also garnered Academy Award, Golden Globe, SAG Award, BAFTA Award and Image Award nominations for “Collateral,” and Golden Globe and SAG Award nominations for the television movie “Redemption.” Other films included “Dreamgirls,” “Miami Vice,” “Jarhead,” “The Kingdom,” “The Soloist,” “Law Abiding Citizen” and “Valentine’s Day.”
On the musical front, his J Records debut, “Unpredictable” earned nominations for three Grammy Awards, eight Billboard Music Awards, one “Soul Train” Music Award and two American Music Awards, for which he won Favorite Male Artist. Foxx received three Grammy nominations for “Intuition,” and won a Grammy for his hit, “Blame It,” featuring T-Pain. He’s not done. “I’m going to direct, write – do all I can while I can,” Foxx says on his website. Tickets are disappearing, Spencer said. “Foxx always brings surprise guests out. People love it. They know Jamie is a super host for the show at Circus Maximus. He does comedy, sings, brings out each comic. You really get to see all the different aspects of this talented individual,” Spencer said.
