Alexia Howard is the U.S. Foods analyst at Sanford C. Bernstein. She was named to Institutional Investor's All-America Research Team in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. Before joining Bernstein in 2005, Alexia was a consultant with Marakon Associates, working with leaders of consumer products companies and retailers to develop strategies, improve organizational capabilities and allocate resources to enhance shareholder value. She has over 10 years of consulting experience based in London, continental Europe, Chicago and on the west coast. Her experiences in the food and beverage sectors have included developing corporate acquisition strategies, optimizing the allocation of marketing spend across regions and media types, embedding strategic decision-making capabilities and streamlining product portfolios. Alexia earned her BA with honors in economics at Cambridge University, England, in 1991 and her MBA from INSEAD, France, in 1998. Kathryn was brought aboard the SPINS team in 2007 to spearhead the company’s business development unit after having spent the previous 15 years in the food retail and consumer packaged goods industries. Kathryn served as the Vice President of Grocery and Corporate Brands at BI-LO, LLC and worked in the category management and sales group at Ralston Purina. Since joining SPINS, her role has expanded to include the management of the company’s retail, consumer services, and product development divisions. Kathryn is an outdoor enthusiast and enjoys paddle boarding, sailing, running, yoga and living an active beach lifestyle. She has a Bachelor of Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an MBA from Wake Forest University’s Babcock Graduate School of Management.

Corporate Development & Growth Strategies Dave Beré Chairman & CEO Nonni's Foods LLC

David L.Bere is Chairman and CEO of Nonni’s Foods LLC, a leading producer and marketer of biscotti and other specialty snack products. Dave formed a partnership with Wind Point partners to purchase the business in January of 2011.

From 2006-2010, Mr. Bere serve in a number of leadership roles with Dollar General Corporation, a leading discount retailer with over 8500 stores and $11 billion in sales. He was named president and chief operating officer in 2006 after serving on the Board of Directors since 2002. Upon completion of KKR’s (a major private equity firm) acquisition of Dollar General in 2007, Dave was named interim chief executive officer. After a permanent ceo was named in January 2008, Dave served as Chief Strategy officer until his retirement in 2010.

From 1978-2005, Mr. Bere served in leadership roles within the Food industry. CEO-Bakery Chef (1998-2005), CEO-McCain Foods (1996-1998), Quaker Oats (1978-1995). In 1983, Bere served as a White House Fellow for President Ronald Reagan. Mr. Bere currently serves on the Board of Fuller Theological Seminary and Dollar General Literacy Foundation. Before joining Insource, Mr. Chapman served as the CFO and COO of CALEB Technologies, a growing venture backed software company. At CALEB Mr. Chapman oversaw the growth of the company and subsequently orchestrated its successful sale to Accenture. Earlier in his career, Mr. Chapman worked with McKinsey & Company where he consulted numerous companies on operation, financial, and strategic issues. Prior to joining McKinsey, Mr. Chapman was a Manager with Arthur Andersen LLP where he advised clients on tax and audit issues. Mr. Chapman received a B.S. in Accountancy from Miami University, Ohio; holds a MBA from Harvard Business School; and is a licensed CPA. Howard Eirinberg President Kronos Foods, Inc.

Howard Eirinberg became President of Kronos Foods, a Prospect Partners investment, in January 2011. Prior to joining Kronos, Howard was President & COO of Vienna Beef, Ltd., where he oversaw Vienna’s national food service and retail businesses for seven years. Before Vienna Beef, Howard ran the foodservice division of Fresh Express, a fresh cut vegetable processor, where he grew sales with large foodservice accounts including YUM Brands, McDonalds, Subway and Burger King. Eirinberg started his career in brand management at Quaker Oats, and later managed a supermarket deli supplier, a salad dressing manufacturer, and a beverage company for two different private equity firms. He has also owned his own consulting firm, Eirinberg Consulting, which developed and implemented growth strategies for middle market consumer goods clients.

Howard holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, and an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.

Brian Johnson is the Chief Financial Officer of Newly Weds Foods, Inc, a world leader in food ingredient technology. Specifically, Newly Weds is a producer of premium batters, breadings, coatings, spices and seasonings for the processed foods industries.

Since joining Newly Weds in 2006, Brian has been a leader in its financial and corporate development efforts. During Brian’s tenure, Newly Weds has experienced significant growth domestically and internationally both organically and through acquisition. Today, Newly Weds services its international customer base from 20 manufacturing facilities worldwide.

Prior to Newly Weds, Brian served in a number of leadership roles including Chief Operating Officer Sengewald USA, Chief Financial Officer of North American Foods and Manager with Arthur Anderson. With over 16 years of consumer packaged good experience, Amy Grabow is the VP Marketing for the Jimmy Dean brand, the number one breakfast sausage brand in America. In her current role, Amy is responsible for the strategic development of the brand’s marketplace strategy and execution including the management of the business P&L, brand creative development and advertising, packaging, and new product development. Prior to leading the Jimmy Dean business, Amy led the marketing strategies for a number of brands including Hillshire Farm smoked sausage and Ball Park franks, under the Hillshire Brands Company. Prior to joining the Hillshire Brands Company, Amy honed her marketing and innovation skills at the Kellogg Company where she managed a variety of national cookie brands as well as Nutri-Grain Bars, and also at Unilever where she worked on Ragu pasta sauce and the Lipton Soups business. Michael Halverson is a seasoned food industry executive with a proven track record of growing shareholder value in the snack food, confectionary and breakfast categories. His career includes over 25 years of experience with General Mills, Sather Candy, Hyde & Hyde, Warner Candy and most recently as the Vice-President of Sales with Schulze & Burch Biscuit Co., a Chicago based manufacturer of toaster pastries and granola bars.

He has a proven track record of growing lower-middle market food companies including his current assignment at Schulze & Burch where he restructured the sales team which led to organic growth within the retail business from $65 million to $115 million over the past five years.

Mike Halverson (continued) Michael’s ability to identify new opportunities and execute upon them in the food industry has been a hallmark in his career. While directing the marketing effort at Sather Candy, he refocused the business on a new distribution channel which grew the company from $125 to $180 million within 5 years. At Warner Candy Company he identified the opportunity to roll-up several regional candy packagers, found private equity backing, acquired a $15 million platform company and rolled up 3 others into a $40 million national candy packager within 3 ½ years. As an undergraduate at St. Thomas University in St. Paul MN, Michael founded the Entrepreneurs Club where he earned both his BA and MBA. Today he resides in Kildeer, IL with his wife Christine and their three children. Warren Lawson Principal/Owner ARI Packaging, Inc.

Warren Lawson, Principal and Co-Owner of ARI Packaging and Advertising Resources, Inc, is currently responsible for operations, administration, quality and special sales. Warren was born and raised in Washington, D.C. During the past 35 years, he has worked in manufacturing facilities in the steel, food and paper industries. Some of the fortune 500 companies he has worked for include Inland Steel Company, Frito-Lay, Kraft/General Foods, Amtrak, Ameritech, Chicago Title & Trust Co., The HAVI Group and Ecolab. He has held mid to senior management positions in each of these companies and has been an integral part of the leadership team. His last position was Vice President of Human Resources for Ecolab for Asia Pacific and Latin America. Mr. Lawson received his BA from Northwestern University and MSIR from Loyola University of Chicago. He resides in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Lawson is Married to Pamela Hewitt and has one son, Alexander. He enjoys, travel, photography and is a certified instructor in Kenpo Karate.

Scott Mandell is the Founder and CEO of Enjoy Life Foods, a company dedicated to developing, producing, and marketing great tasting gluten free and allergy friendly food products since 2001. Scott is a visionary, as he saw the growing need for foods that cater to people with food sensitivities far ahead of current trends. Scott is a hands-on leader who remains extremely involved in all aspects of the business and in ensuring that Enjoy Life stays true to its brand promise and company mission.

Prior to Enjoy Life Foods, Scott was a Vice President in commercial lending at American National Bank in Chicago (currently JP Morgan Chase) from 1993 – 2001. Scott earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University (Bloomington) in 1993 with a major in History and a minor in Business. In December 2001, he earned his MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University with concentrations in the areas of Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Finance, and Management & Strategy.

Mr. Mandell serves on the boards of the American Celiac Disease Alliance, the University of Chicago Celiac Disease Center, and the Food Allergy Initiative. Scott is a member of the Young Presidents Organization, a mentor to many up start entrepreneurs, and is an active alumnus and frequent speaker at the Kellogg Graduate School of Management. Scott was inducted into the Chicago Area Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame in 2006 and was named to the Crain’s Chicago Business “40 under 40” list in November 2008. Brock Furlong President & CEO Stampede Meat, Inc.

Brock Furlong has been in the food industry for 25 years. He started his career with a focus primarily on the marketing and sales functions securing his training from companies such as The Quaker Oats Company (1990 to 1994) and Pillsbury (1995 to 1998). He left Pillsbury as VP of Marketing to join Maple Leaf Meats, a $5B international meat and bakery company headquartered in Toronto, Canada. Brock joined as SVP of Marketing and R&D directing the activities of over 60 professionals across fresh and further processed pork and beef. Within 3 months of joining Maple Leaf the Food Service sales function was added to his responsibilities along with the leadership of a number of critical acquisitions. In October of 1999 Brock was promoted to the position of President, Maple Leaf Poultry. This company became the largest poultry company in Canada growing from $270M in sales to over $600M in the 5 years Brock acted as President. The company serviced all major restaurants and retail customers in Canada and a number of significant US customers as well. In early 2005 Brock was asked to assume the President role of the Frozen Bakery division of Maple Leaf that was headquartered in Chicago serving major Food Service restaurants throughout North America. The business grew to $350M in the 2.5 years Brock lead the company. In 2008, Brock’s family made the decision that the nearly constant travel needed to come to an end and he left Maple Leaf after 10 years to start a gourmet protein company making high end burgers, sausages and meatballs. The business grew rapidly over the course of the next 3 years serving the Food Service, Industrial and Retail business segments.

In the fall of 2010 Brock was enticed to join the Stampede team in the role of Executive Vice President to assist with broadening the strategy and strengthening the very capable organization already in place at Stampede. In December of 2011 Brock was promoted to the President of Stampede following the successful 17 year leadership of Edward Ligas. Edward remains a board member active in defining the go forward strategy of the business.

Brock is Canadian originally but now resides in the suburbs of Chicago with his wife Jill having enjoyed 21 years of marriage. They have 3 children ages 17, 15 and 11 that are all equally active at school, in sports and in the community helping others. The entire Furlong family is looking forward to becoming a bigger part of the Stampede family and working hard collectively to continue the legacy the Ligas family has built. Brock graduated in 1990 with an Honors Bachelor of Business Administration with Distinction ñ Dean’s List, Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo, Canada.

Bill Henry is Chief Operating Officer and CFO of Affy Tapple, maker of “the original” caramel apple and Mrs. Prindable’s confections and gourmet gifts. He is responsible for all manufacturing, distribution and finance functions. Since joining the company in 2003, Bill has made many improvements in manufacturing operations, financial management and business planning that have helped build the Company’s track record of profitable growth.

Previously, Bill served as VP Finance and board member of Signa Group, a private investment company affiliated with a number of industrial automation entities where he oversaw all corporate finance and M&A activities in North America. For most of the 80s Bill was in the Colorado energy sector working on enhanced oil recovery and cogeneration projects. Bill began his career in the chemical sector at what is now Mosaic, the world’s largest producer of agricultural phosphate products. Kate Maehr became chief executive officer of the Greater Chicago Food Depository in 2006. Kate’s leadership is documented by a number of strategic initiatives and significant accomplishments to address hunger in Cook County.

Under Kate’s guidance, the Food Depository has vastly expanded operations and distribution to meet rising demand throughout Cook County. Over the last four years – since the economic downturn of 2008 – the Food Depository has increased its distribution by more than 18 million pounds of food while developing programs to better serve priority populations.

Kate’s vision for the organization led to the development and current implementation of a fiveyear strategic plan – Growing the Field – that launched in 2010. With this plan, the Food

Kate Maehr (continued) Depository is increasing access to nutritious food, strengthening community responses to hunger, mobilizing the public to end hunger, implementing new outcome measurements and strengthening its infrastructure. Significant progress has already been achieved, including the expansion of produce distribution to 33 percent of all food.

Kate has overseen the creation and growth of several innovative programs. In 2007, the Mobile Pantry program was launched to distribute fresh and shelf-stable food to communities with high need and limited local resources. That same year, the Food Depository started distributing food boxes to older adult residences. In 2009, the Food Depository began offering SNAP Outreach services to help families and individuals apply for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program – formerly known as Food Stamps. In 2010, the Food Depository launched its Lunch Bus program to deliver nutritious lunches to children during the summer months.

The Food Depository has conducted a number of studies under Kate’s leadership to identify and connect priority populations and communities with the nutrition they need. In 2012, the Food Depository released Hunger Among Seniors in Cook County. In 2010, the Food Depository began highlighting community food insecurity data in unprecedented detail. The same year, the Food Depository and the SOCIAL Impact Research Center examined nutritional access for Cook County children in Running on Empty.

A leading voice in the fight to end hunger, Kate is co-chair of the Illinois Commission to End Hunger, a board member of Feeding Illinois – the state’s coalition of food banks – and a member of the State of Illinois Social Services Advisory Council. Kate is also a member of the Economic Club of Chicago and The Chicago Network. Kate holds a bachelor’s degree from Macalester College and a master’s degree in Public Policy and Administration from the University of Wisconsin. Art Velasquez (continued) Mr. Velasquez is also Executive Vice President of Azteca Foods, Inc., one of the largest Mexican foods manufacturing companies in the Midwest. Mr. Velasquez has been employed at Azteca since 1989, primarily as its Vice President of Foodservice Sales and Marketing and has been in his current position since 2009.

Mr. Velasquez received his degree in business from the University of Notre Dame in 1987. He is active in business, civic and service groups in the Chicagoland area. Mr. Velasquez is currently a member of the Board of Regents for Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, the Leadership Advisory Council for Cristo Rey Jesuit High School, the Board of Directors of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School, the Board of Directors of Luna Negra Dance Theater, Vistage International, and Treasurer of ADL, Inc.
