The standalone agriculture module initialising deployment post landing, on top is the module housing and on the bottom, starting from left, is the main agricultural structure, next to it,

DOBY “the helper” is ready to install the right module in the MAS.

IGOR heads on to start building the shell around the hab modules, while STRIKER & SNAPPER keep on preparing raw printing material

IGOR is equiped with a telescopic arm that is housed on top of the “tower” structure thst unfolds and extends to extrude the molten regolith( martian soil) into protective shells, in the absence of the other modules, IGOR sets itself upright with the help of hydraulic pegs.

SNAPPER & STRIKER detach from IGOR and connect to each other to serve as a digging, refinment and transportation module, with STRIKER having an extendable structure on its top to store refined regolith.

The goal from M.E.C.A.A is to provide us with a tool that could enable us to spawn a hu man society and civilization whererver we wish on the solar system, its a set of vehicles that would enable many earth bound activities to be executed autonomously on a remote and outpost location.

It would help erradicate many fatal error factors from the settling “equation” mostly the human ones, it is designed to withstand the harsh martian atmosphere and environment, and those of other stellar bodies, able to sustain itself, energetically, for decades witout human interferance.

ICONA RA’HAL

BRIEF:

Vehicle designed to escape from urban chaos, whit independent 4x4 electric traction, capable of adapting both to the metropolitan context and to the off-road one. Maximum practicality and possibility of use as a camping tent for the night.

SCENARIO:

The year is 2023, the cities are crowded, auditory and air pollution are becoming a major issue in the metropolitan cities, it became harder for families to settle and live a calm and peaceful life, people started escaping on weekends and on their free time to rural areas to discover the scenery and have a peaceful moment away from the overwhelming cities.

INSPIRATION:

The scope of this choice of inspirational images was to come up with a harmonic and diverse shape that would transit from sharp edges to curvy volumes, representing in a way the contrast there is between the habitats in which the car will be used.

A 2030 vehicle that has the same physical footprint as a 1960 MINI, durable, reliable and customizable.

Should provide a fun and involving experience to the driver. Following a minimal approach in order to achieve an original MINI, feeling and match the non mutated DNA.

DIRECTION TO FOLLOW:

In order to have a certain direction to follow, while lacking enough knowledge of the mini heritage, i went with a different approach,asking mini owners and enthusiasts what they liked about MINI and what would they like to see in the next generation.

On the right some of the many answers received, that i used to manifest a brief that would eventually follow.

INITIAL THOUGHTS

The samsonite suitecase was a main object of inspiration for the BTB, with its separate frame, it allows for a visually rigid structure within that could be covered with a number of shells, or skins.

Therefore, the main aim was to design a car that would appeal to the user , customer or to whoever from all the aspects.One more thing to be picked from the samsonite is its durability, as said before,even if the shell broke it wouldn’t matter that much since the frame is always intact.and this was directly transfered to the BTB.
