A historical coastal market town on the Fowey estuary in an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ WELCOME HOME
Tucked away on the rugged south Cornish coast, in the bustling sailing town of Fowey, Old Station Master’s House is an exceptional collection of homes set within moments of the water’s edge. The sensitively restored former railway house, at the development’s entrance, comprises six 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments, duplex maisonettes and a townhouse. While to the rear, there are seven new build contemporary 2 bedroom apartments which boast beautiful estuary views.

OUR VISION
Acorn saw the potential this fine building had to offer and worked with local architect, Atelier 3, to bring it back to life and provide new homes for the town by rebuilding and renovating this piece of local history. Inspired by the character and charm of the building, the new apartments are designed around light and space, whilst incorporating details of the original architecture. The gardens and forecourt were always seen as a key part of the setting, grounding the building in its landscape. These have been further enhanced by Atelier 3 designing a gateway building looking over the picturesque Fowey River, towards the village of Bodinnick and ‘Ferryside’. It was here Daphne du Maurier wrote her first novel, The Loving Spirit. Every opportunity has been taken in the design of these buildings to create comfortable homes that are intrinsically linked to both the history of the place and the beautiful surrounding landscape. All of the new apartments benefit from terraces and generous areas of glazing to welcome in the morning sun and provide views over the river. The interiors take this theme further, using the natural materials of stone, steel and oak to combine landscape with industrial archaeology. Double height spaces, mezzanine galleries and arched windows are reminders of the heritage of the building. Today it remains a handsome testament to the Victorian railway architecture of the period.
O L D S TAT I O N M A S T E R ’ S H O U S E
Built in the mid 19th century to serve the railway linking Fowey with Lostwithiel, Station Master’s House was designed in the Gothic Revival style using Plymouth Limestone with banded string courses and rusticated quoins.

Perfectly placed for access to St Austell Bay, the town’s two sailing clubs will see you developing your sea legs in no time. The river Fowey is also great to explore by canoe or kayak. Or if you prefer to be more competitive with your watersports, there are plenty of rowing clubs.

WITH SO MUCH HISTORY, THERE’S SO MUCH TO DO
A place of natural beauty and inspiration, Cornwall isn’t just defined by its dramatic cliff tops and serene beaches, it has a rich cultural story. Attractions such as the Lost Gardens of Heligan and Pendennis Castle date back centuries, marking key periods in Cornwall’s history. Carved out of a cliff and opened in 1932, the Minack Theatre in Porthcurno is a more recent, but equally breath-taking attraction. More cultural nourishment is available at Tate St Ives and the Barbara Hepworth Museum, both of which celebrate the works of modern British artists with links to St Ives. Or for the horticulturally minded, there’s the Eden Project’s biome housed global garden in Bodelva. Cornwall has so much to offer.
