Konstantin Vassiliev wurde in Sibirien (Russland) geboren. Er studierte an den Hochschulen für Musik in Novosibirsk und in Münster/Westfalen. Neben seinen Konzerten und der pädagogischen Tätigkeit beschäftigt er sich mit der Literaturerweiterung für Gitarristen aller Altersstufen. Seine zahlreichen Kompositionen und Bearbeitungen werden sowohl in Europa als auch in Japan, Kanada und den USA publiziert. Seine Musik erklingt experimentell und innovativ, ist aber auch von Traditionen, vor allem der klassischen russischen Schule, geprägt. Sein Musikstil zeichnet sich aus durch Vielfältigkeit: von romantischer Melancholie über impressionistische Fantasterei und Mystik bis zur zeitgemäßen Expressivität. Konstantin Vassiliev was born in Siberia (Russia). He studied at the Academies of Music in Novosibirsk and in Muenster/Westphalia. Apart from giving concerts and teaching guitar Vassiliev has concerned himself with adding to the literature available for guitar players of all ages. His numerous compositions and arrangements have been published in Europe, as well as in Japan, Canada and the USA. His music sounds experimental and innovative, but it is also stamped by tradition, above all that of the classical Russian school. His musical style distinguishes itself by its diversity: from romantic melancholy through impressionistic fantasies and mysticism, right up to contemporary expressiveness. Schwer

VORWORT Liebe Musikfreunde, liebe Schüler, das vorliegende Heft enthält eine kleine Sammlung von 26 spanischen romantischen Stücken für Gitarre. Es sind sowohl populäre Miniaturen von Francisco Tárrega, Enrique Granados, Isaac Albéniz, als auch weniger bekannte Werke von Julián Arcas, Jaime Bosch, Tomás Damas und anderen. Außerdem findet ihr hier auch Musik von einigen Komponisten, die der Gitarrenwelt eher unbekannt sind. Acht Kompositionen erscheinen hier in der Erstveröffentlichung für Gitarre. Alle Stücke wurden für die Schüler mit ca. 3-4 Jahren Unterrichtserfahrung leicht bearbeitet und sind für alle angehenden Gitarristen spielbar. Jeder Komposition geht ein Text voraus: Hier gibt es allerlei Wissenswertes über Musik, Infos zu den Komponisten, Übungstipps und noch vieles mehr. Diese Ausgabe enthält sowohl eine traditionelle Notation mit ausreichenden Angaben zu Fingersätzen, als auch eine Tabulatur. Die beiliegende CD und ein Mini-Lexikon ergänzen das Heft. Und wenn ihr noch Fragen habt, auf YouTube gibt es mehrere Tutorials, die das Erlernen der hier vorgestellten Kompositionen erleichtern. Ich wünsche euch viel Erfolg mit der spanischen Musik! FOREWORD Dear music lovers and students, The book that you’re holding is a collection of 26 romantic Spanish pieces for guitar. Included are popular miniatures by Francisco Tárrega, Enrique Granados, and Isaac Albéniz, as well as more obscure works by Julián Arcas, Jaime Bosch, Tomás Damas, and others. In addition, you’ll also find music by several composers who are mostly unknown in guitar circles. For eight of the compositions, this book is the first time that they are published for guitar. All the pieces have been arranged for students with about three to four years of experience, and they should be playable for all developing guitarists. Each composition is prefaced with an introductory text that includes information about the music and the composers, as well as tips for practicing, and more. In addition to traditional notation with fingering indications, this edition also includes tablature. The book is completed with an accompanying CD and a small lexicon. If you have remaining questions, please check out my YouTube channel, which includes numerous tutorials that will help you learn the compositions that are presented in this book. iner der bekanntesten spanischen Komponisten, Francisco Tárrega, eröffnete eine neue Ära der klassischen Gitarrenmusik. Weltweit nahm er enormen Einfluss als Lehrer, Interpret und Komponist. Tárrega gelang es, dem Gitarrenspiel neue technische und musikalische Impulse zu geben. So entwickelte er neue didaktische Richtlinien und schuf mit seinen zahlreichen Bearbeitungen und Kompositionen ein neues Gitarrenrepertoire. Mit 17 Jahren begann Tárrega, eine Gitarre von Antonio de Torres zu spielen. Dieses grundlegend neue Model überzeugte mit einem ungewöhnlich langen und kraftvollen Ton. Als Erster verstand es Tárrega, das Beste aus der Torres-Gitarre herauszuholen. Als Folge entwickelten sich einige Neuerungen, zum Beispiel die Haltung des Instrumentes betreffend, die heute noch als Standard gelten. „Lágrima“ („Träne“) ist eine der bekanntesten Kompositionen des spanischen Meisters. Es ist eine kurze lyrische Miniatur mit melancholischer Atmosphäre. Die vorliegende Bearbeitung wurde etwas leichter arrangiert als das Original. An mehreren Stellen (z. B. Takte 1, 5, 13) gibt es so genannte parallele Dezimen. Denke daran, dass dabei die Töne (vor allem in der Unterstimme) schön gebunden klingen. Beachte ab Takt 9 den Tonartwechsel!

A

s one of Spain’s most famous composers, Francisco Tárrega opened the doors to a new era of classical guitar music. Tárrega introduced a new level of technical abilities and musicality to the instrument, and his impact as an educator, performer, and composer was felt around the world. Tárrega developed new standards and methods for teaching guitar, and his arrangements and compositions created a new repertoire. Tárrega began playing a guitar built by Antonio de Torres when he was 17. Fundamentally a completely new type of guitar, the Torres featured a powerful voice with exceptional sustain, and Tárrega was the first player to understand how to use this modern instrument to his advantage. As a result, he developed a new way to approach the guitar, with things such as his posture and way of holding the guitar continuing to be the standard today. “Lágrima” (“Tear”) is one of the most well known compositions by this Spanish master. A lyrical miniature, the short piece conveys a melancholic quality. The version found here is arranged to be somewhat easier to play than the original. There are several places in the piece (for example, measures 1, 5, and 13) that feature parallel tenths. Make sure that these phrases sound legato, especially in the lower voice. Beware of the key change in measure 9!

ie viele andere Komponisten seiner Zeit, komponierte auch Francisco Tárrega mehrere Mazurkas. Dazu zählt seine romantische Miniatur „Sueño“ („Traum“).

Typisch für die Mazurka ist der punktierte Rhythmus oder die Achteltriole in der ersten Zählzeit: Die Komposition hat eine dreiteilige Form (A-B-A). Der erste Dur-Teil trägt einen leichten und heiteren Charakter. Der B-Teil weist hingegen leichte melancholische Züge auf.

As is typical for a Mazurka, the piece has a dotted rhythm or the first note value of an eighth note triplet: The composition has a three-part form (A-B-A). The first part, in a major key, has an easy-going, cheery character. In contrast, the B part features somewhat melancholic qualities.
