Performance
From the Co-Chairs Dear Guests, Welcome to the brand new Event Center at the Pro Football Hall of Fame for Taste of the NFL! The Steering Committee has been working with the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank for almost a year to organize this evening’s event. It has been great to see members of our community working together for such a worthy cause. We are honored that you have joined us here tonight, and by supporting Taste of the NFL you have joined the fight against hunger. As the need to feed the hungry rises, so does the Foodbank’s need for your support. The difficult economic times we are going through have had a dramatic effect on numerous families in the eight counties served by the Foodbank. Your support tonight guarantees that food is available for those in need in our community. We would like to thank all of the restaurants, wineries and other food and beverage providers who have donated their services this evening. We encourage all of you to support these establishments year-round just as they have supported this event. We would also like to extend our thanks for the generous in-kind and financial support of our numerous sponsors. Furthermore, Taste of the NFL would not run smoothly without our team of hospitable volunteers. We owe one last special thanks to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame staff has put in countless hours securing the participation of Hall of Fame Enshrinees and working with the Steering Committee to ensure an unforgettable and successful evening. It has been our pleasure to serve as co-chairs for Taste of the NFL this year. Again, thank you for helping the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank tackle hunger in Northeast Ohio.

Pro Football Hall of Fame
From the Foodbank Dear Friends, On behalf of the staff and the Board of Directors of the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, thank you for joining us this evening in the beautiful new Event Center at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. We greatly appreciate your support of Taste of the NFL as we continue to fight hunger right here in our community. We would also like to thank the Pro Football Hall of Fame for hosting us at this historic facility and the Hall of Fame Enshrinees for being a part of the evening. Taste of the NFL would also not be possible without the generous support of our sponsors. To the 2012 Co-Chairs, Gary Smith and Lara Wilson, we extend a special thank you for your remarkable effort overseeing the countless details of tonight’s event. The demand for emergency food continues to rise. One in three people in food lines are children. With the support of individuals like you, the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank distributed 19.4 million pounds of food and fed over 180,000 different people in 2011. Our network of more than 460 agency programs in eight counties counts on events like Taste of the NFL to ensure food gets to those who need it most. The Foodbank needs your continued support to ensure that we can feed those in need. Each dollar raised tonight will help the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank provide four meals for a hungry child, adult or senior in our community. Your attendance at Taste of the NFL this evening shows your commitment to the cause. Thank you for your support!

Hall of Fame Enshrinees CHRIS DOLEMAN was drafted as a linebacker out of the University of Pittsburgh by the Minnesota Vikings as the fourth player overall in the 1985 NFL Draft. In 1992, he was named the NFC’s Defensive Player of the Year after he led the Vikings with 14.5 sacks, had 64 tackles, returned an interception for a touchdown, forced six fumbles, recovered three fumbles, and had a safety. After nine seasons with Minnesota, Doleman was dealt to the Atlanta Falcons in 1994. He spent two seasons with Atlanta before signing with the San Francisco 49ers as a free agent in 1996. He played three seasons in San Francisco before returning for one final year with the Vikings in 1999. In his 15-season, 232-game NFL career, he missed a mere two games due to injury. He retired as the fourthranked sack leader of all-time with 150.5 sacks and was tied for third in the NFL Record Book with eight seasons in which he recorded 10 or more sacks. Minnesota Vikings 19851993, 1999, Atlanta Falcons 1994-95, San Francisco 49ers 1996-98. Class of 2012. RICKEY JACKSON, the New Orleans Saints second round pick in the 1981 NFL draft, was a key force in the Saints’ transformation into a contending team. In his first year, Jackson set the franchise rookie record with eight sacks. He became known as an elite pass rusher and was named to the Pro Bowl six times. Jackson was also named a first-team All-Pro four times. He helped lead the Saints to their first winning season and playoffs in 1987 as well as their first division title in 1991. During Jackson’s final two years, he was a pass rush specialist for the San Francisco 49ers. In 1995, the 49ers won the Super Bowl XXIX with Jackson contributing two tackles. Over his 15 season career, Jackson had a total of 128 career sacks and eight interceptions over the course of 227 games. New Orleans Saints 1981-1993. San Francisco 49ers 1994-1995. Class of 2010. FLOYD LITTLE was a three-time All-America running back at Syracuse and the Denver Broncos first round draft pick, sixth player selected overall, in the 1967 AFL-NFL Draft. As a rookie he led the American Football League in punt returns with a 16.9 average on 16 returns. Little had a knack for finding the end zone, something he did often especially during a three-year stretch from 1971 to 1973 when he scored a combined 32 touchdowns via rushing and receiving. Little was named to two AFL All-Star Games and three AFC-NFC Pro Bowls. He was also named All-AFL/NFL twice and All-AFC first- or second-team four straight years. Denver Broncos 1967-1975. Class of 2010.

RANDALL MCDANIEL, an All-America and four-year starter from Arizona State, immediately earned a starting role with the Vikings playing in all 16 games in his rookie season. In 1994, McDaniel was the leader of a rock solid offensive line that held opponents to just one sack every 22.7 pass attempts, the second-best ratio in team history. After earning nine straight first-team All-Pro selections and starting 13 consecutive playoff games for the Vikings, McDaniel joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for two final seasons before retiring from the NFL. In the 1996 Pro Bowl he caught a touchdown pass, becoming the first guard in AFC-NFC Pro Bowl history to accomplish such a feat. Regarded as one of the finest offensive linemen in NFL history, McDaniel was named to the NFL’s All-Decade Team of the 1990s. Minnesota Vikings 1988-1999. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2000-2001. Class of 2009. TOM MACK, the Los Angeles Ram’s starting left guard for 12 years, never missed a game during his 184-game tenure, a consecutive game streak third in Rams’ history. He was the Rams’ No. 1 pick in the 1966 NFL Draft and one of only two rookies to survive the entire season on George Allen’s veteran-dominated squad. During his thirteen seasons, the Rams had a 12 win season, won their division eight times, and went to four NFC Championship games. Mack earned eleven Pro Bowl invitations, ranking third in most appearances in the post-season classic. He was also All-Pro or All-NFC nine times in a ten-year span from 1969 through 1978. Los Angeles Rams 1966-1978. Class of 1999. JOHN RANDLE signed with the Minnesota Vikings in 1990. He played in all 16 games as a rookie before he earned a starting role at defensive tackle in his second season. After setbacks from injures, he went on to play 176 consecutive games and 133 straight starts with the Vikings. He played eight straight seasons with double-digit sack totals and six straight All-Pro and Pro Bowl seasons. Randle’s best game was on September 22, 1996 against the Green Bay Packers when he had a career-high 3.5 sacks and forced two fumbles. After joining the Seattle Seahawks as a free agent in 2001, he ran the string to 183 games and 140 starts before a knee injury forced him out of a game. Over his 14 seasons, Randle amassed 137.5 sacks, seven Pro Bowls, and a spot on the NFL’s All-Decade Team of the 1990s. Minnesota Vikings 1990-2000. Seattle Seahawks 2001-2003. Class of 2010.

Hall of Fame Enshrinees BILLY SHAW, a Georgia Tech lineman, chose to play for the Buffalo Bills over the Dallas Cowboys after he was drafted by both teams in 1961. He chose the Bills because they wanted him to play in the position of guard instead of lineman. Shaw’s choice was validated when he became one of the best guards of the 1960s due in part to his skill of pulling out in front of the Bills runners to make blocks. His former coach Jerry Smith said he was “the driving force of the offensive unit.” During his career, the Bills won AFL titles in 1964 and 1965 and had the most rushing touchdowns per season in 1962, 1963, and 1964. Shaw was also selected as a first-team All-AFL five times, played in eight AFL All-Star Games, and was named to the Pro Football All-Decade Team of the 1960s. Buffalo Bills 1961-1969. Class of 1999. DWIGHT STEPHENSON, a second-round pick and the 48th player selected in the 1980 NFL Draft, excelled at center for the Miami Dolphins for eight seasons from 1980 to 1987. In just a few years, he was universally recognized as the premier center in the NFL. He was an exceptionally quick blocker and he possessed an explosive charge off the snap. Stephenson was the Dolphins offensive captain and his presence as the anchor of the offensive line was a major factor in the Dolphins’ record of allowing the fewest quarterback sacks in the NFL for six straight years. During his career he earned both All-Pro and AllAFC recognition five years in a row and was selected for five Pro Bowl games. Stephenson played in 107 straight games and started in 80 consecutive games until the 1987 players’ strike ended the streak. He returned after the strike as a starter for seven games before he suffered a serious left knee injury which eventually forced his retirement. 1980-1987 Miami Dolphins. Class of 1998 JIM TAYLOR was the symbol of power for the Green Bay Packers. Thousand-yard seasons became a specialty for Taylor. He went over 1,000 yards in five straight seasons beginning in 1960 but reached his pinnacle in 1962, when he had a career-high 1,474 yards and was named the NFL Player of the Year. In the 1962 NFL title game, Taylor engaged in a personal duel with the New York Giants’ outstanding defense. He carried 31 times for 85 yards and scored Green Bay’s only touchdown in a 16-7 victory. Over his career, he amassed 83 rushing touchdowns. 1958-1966 Green Bay Packers. New Orleans Saints 1967. Class of 1976.

KELLEN WINSLOW played as the San Diego Charger’s tight end from 1979 to 1987 after the Chargers traded with the Cleveland Browns to obtain the draft rights to him. He played in five Pro Bowls and was the Co-Player of the Game in the 1982 game. Throughout his career, Winslow was plagued by knee injuries which eventually forced his retirement in 1987. Despite his injuries, Winslow accumulated 541 receptions for 6,741 yards and 45 touchdowns in only nine National Football League seasons. When he retired, Winslow ranked fifth among active receivers and 14th among all NFL pass-catchers. Winslow’s most memorable performance was in 1981, in the Chargers 41-38 overtime playoff victory over Miami, when he caught 13 passes for 166 yards and blocked a field goal with four seconds to play to send the game into overtime. San Diego Chargers 19791987. Class of 1995.

For every $1 that is donated, the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank is able to leverage our resources to turn that dollar into four nutritious meals for someone in need. A $50 donation will feed a family of four for a month. A $100 donation will mean a child never has to go to school without breakfast. A $1,000 donation provides enough healthy produce and proteins that an elderly couple on a fixed income will not have to worry about where their next meal will come from for an entire year. This is a 100% taxdeductible contribution that will go to directly serving the needs of hungry men, women and children in the eight Northeast Ohio counties the Foodbank serves.
