SNOWSHOEING IN VANCOUVER - YUNONA GOGIA

I woke this morning thinking about where to go hiking. Since I installed the www.alltrails.com app on my phone, the question is about the level of intensity and elevation suitable on a particular day, and there are so many options to choose from. It is Friday, so it has to be the Cypress Mountain, but I need the snowshoes to walk on snow. I bought them at Canadian Tire for $65. The trail is free; you just need to park at the far end and find the slightly uphill winding road, but it’s all marked, and there are many other people happy to enthusiastically crunch the snow along with you. Their cheeks are as pink as yours, and the eyes shine almost as brightly. So, what are we doing here? Mother Nature is white, fluffy and very quiet. Is 0°C cold for you? Then, put on be just you, the white frozen branches, whatever colour the sky wants to be, and the pure thoughts synchronized with your breathing. I guess you need to go and see if what I am saying is true. Here are my photos.

STANLEY PARK -ARSHDEEP SINGH

Stanley Park is one of Canada’s largest Public Park, which was opened for the public on 27 September 1888 after having permission from the Canadiana Government in 1887. The Park, surrounded by the waters of Burrard Inlet, Coal Harbour and English Bay, was named after Governor General Frederick Arthur Stanley. Moreover, in winter 2022, the Stanley Park water supply tunnel project is expected to

While doing such activities, if you get hungry, there are restaurants where you can enjoy a meal with a beautiful ocean view. People can play some games like tennis, cycling along the sea wall, and having a picnic if the weather allows it.

SIWASH ROCK Stanley Park is the result of millions of years of geomorphic processes. The Swiash Rock results from a volcanic eruption more than 32 million years ago and has a significant effect on glaciation and the last ice age. It is made of plutonic, volcanic and sedimentary layers and is 60 metres high from the water level. It

WHAT TO DO There is a wide range of activities that visitors can do there. People can enjoy the sun at English Bay beach; swimmers can enjoy swimming and boating.

It opens from 6 am to 10 pm, and I recommend reading about its rules and guidelines before going there.

MEET YOUR FRIENDS & PEERS - YUNONA GOGIA

Gabi Banos

Y: Gabi, you are one of my best students, and I always wanted to ask you something. I know you have 2 children. When my two children were little, sometimes I was finding excuses for myself not to perform my duties, too tired...), but you were always on time in my classes, always doing your best, always an achiever and role model. What is your secret?

G: You know, it is funny because I find myself constantly feeling that I could have done better…either if it is with my kids or at school. And I have had some really bad days too. Being a mom is hard, and it has been harder and tiring to do it without a support group because of the pandemic. I also had to, sadly, endure my mom’s passing away just a few months after arriving in Vancouver and starting my courses at Acsenda, so of course, I needed to put extra effort some days. So thank you, for noticing my hard work, it means a lot. Also, what I’m trying to say is that we all have our struggles, stories and bumps in the way, but the truth is that I always try with the goal of having a better life and future for my family, especially my babies... And even though it has been really challenging, they are a constant reminder that everything is worth it, even the complex parts, even the late nights or the stressful situations.

and will try my best. Because I moved here

My secret? I would say just not giving up, and if it gets hard, just focus on your goal and remember what did you want this in the first place…but it always helps to have a great team, in my case, my husband, because I could not do this without his help and I wouldn’t be here without his support, love and hard work. This journey has only been possible because we are together working in it. So, thank you, honey, if you are reading this. Y: What is your goal? How do you want to use your knowledge and education?

peers? I mean, many new students will join the school, many will graduate, and someone, who reads this, will relate to you. What can you tell them? G: I'm not sure I am one to give advice, but I guess I can share that I believe my classmates are going to be my future coworkers, and so, what we do today, will help us build professional relationships in the industry that will make us grow together. Therefore, our assignments and other responsibilities should be considered a way to show others that we are professional, reliable, and committed people that are worth partnering with because no one can succeed on their own. Also, this is the time to ask questions, to show you care, but especially to make mistakes, so let's make as many as we can now that we are over the safety net of our school and learn from them before we go out to the real deal.

G: I have a dream with my husband to set up a small, sustainable Inn in a beautiful small town here in Canada. We are still unsure where, but we know we want a place where people can enjoy nature and disconnect from their daily, fast-paced, stressful lives. A site that offers a great, comfortable experience for people who do not look for the classic "All-Inclusive" resort experience. In the mid-term, I want to gain as much experience as possible in the hospitality business in a managerial position in a workplace interested in sustainability and environmental preservation.

Y: Do you have any advice for your

1- No pictures or extra personal details. Don’t include a picture of

yourself or any details such as age, gender and marital status. Discrimination happens subconsciously, and you don’t want to give any opportunity for this to occur. 2- Reverse chronological order. Put

your most recent experience at the top and list your experience backwards from there. This is a standard format in Canada and is easiest for a hiring manager to understand your career track

acceptable; make sure you have sufficient white space, and the document is easy to read.

5 TIPS TO MAKE YOUR RESUME STAND OUT

An effective resume is the key to a successful job search. It should be written to meet employers’ needs, and it is a marketing tool that helps you get a job interview(s). If you are applying to roles in Canada, here are some suggestions you can follow when building your resume:

4- Proofread. Ensure to double-heck the spelling, grammar, and formatting. Keep the tenses consistent within your job descriptions. Use past tense for past jobs, and present tense for any roles you are currently in. 5- Tailor your resume. Specify work experience and achievements that are related to the position that you are applying for. This can be done by reviewing the job description and employer website. Remember, resume writing is ongoing progress; it is ideal to update your skills, employment information, and volunteer experience on a regular basis. Keep track of notable accomplishments, awards, and certifications when you are not busy. When it comes to accomplishment, consider using the SMART statement (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, time-based) to quantify what you have achieved in the past.
