EQUINE OSTEOPATHY

Dominique Giniaux

Doctor Dominique Giniaux (19442004) marked the history of veterinary medicine by introducing a new and revolutionary discipline: osteopathy. His practice was initially met with mistrust, but gradually won people over with the results he achieved. Even his most reticent peers slowly came around to the importance of his discovery. His clientele grew, among them increasing numbers of celebrities, race horse owners (the Wildenstein family, especially), horse riders and stable owners (like Bartabas who provides the preface for this work). In Dominique Giniaux and his practices, all of them found the solution to problems that classical medicine seemed powerless to solve. From 1986, Dominique Giniaux began to write down his discoveries, which despite several reprints, are very difficult to find these days. Each is a short treatise of equine acupuncture and osteopathy, augmented with a number of documents but also previously unpublished testimonies assembled by his wife Bénédicte, that make up this present work.
