PNWORCA.ORG PNWORCA – Pacific Northwest Outrigger Canoe Association is the governing body for outrigger canoe racing in Washington , Oregon & Montana. There are an established 16 teams in the league and growing.

• Race Season is April – September with races most weekends. OC‐1 races are in Winter.

• Kikaha hosts the Manu Baker Memorial Regatta and OC‐1 races.

• Sprint Regattas are all day with over 30 events for kids & adults. Distances start at 500m and advance to turns in the 1000m and 1500m races.

• Long Distance races range from 5 to 16 miles with events in April and May and later in the Summer. September & October includes a “9‐person Change” out race(s) : an 18 mile iron or land change out or for those wanting to test their strength and endure a 26 mile in Seattle; 30 mile Catalina and the 42 mile Molokai Channel.

SAFETY & COLD WEATHER Kikaha makes safety a priority factoring a large Keiki (kids) club and being a year round organization that paddles on various water conditions throughout the Northwest. We emphasize right wear gear from neoprene, booties & other warm clothing in winter to more Hawaiian wear to accommodate our hot weather days! Whether you are a seasoned Hawaiian paddler or curious on learning an exciting new sport to just trying it out for a day, we have a crew to suit every level.

‘OHANA (FAMILY) Kikaha is all about family. We have a variety of events throughout the year to get together and enjoy good food, music, family and friends. Often the best part of the race day is Kikaha’s Hawaiian potluck!

JUNIOR PADDLING (12 – 19 YEARS)

KEIKI (KIDS) PADDLING

Kikaha has the largest Junior program in the PNWORCA and probably including the entire US mainland. After a day of sprint racing, many kids have competed in 7 or more races!

Our Junior program mirrors the adult training program in practices. Each junior paddler has the opportunity to compete in traditional 6 crew teams to individual oc‐1 races.

RECREATIONAL VS COMPETITIVE Kikaha recognizes that not everyone can devote the amount of time necessary to compete at the open level against other teams in the world. We offer both competitive venues to suit your level.

Competitive athletes need a higher level of outrigger canoe conditioning. It requires more hours on the water, longer time trials to determine fitness level which helps establish strong teams Recreational paddlers might not have the same time to dedicate but are still interested in racing. Together coaches can determine teams based of commitment level.

Keiki paddlers are all ages ranging from 6 to 12 years. There are special practices for our Keiki’s and the sprint regattas include every level of competition for our kids to participate and compete in. The excitement of competing and finishing each race with their team is such a satisfying accomplishment for all.

WAHINE & KANE PADDLERS Outrigger Paddling is enjoyed by everyone and our Women’s and Men’s program are exciting, rigorous and will challenge every level of participation. Whether you are interested in recreational paddling or competitive you will find a venue in our organization to fit your needs.

OC‐1 OUTRIGGER PADDLING Join the exciting new addition to outrigger paddling. The single canoes (oc‐1). The fleet of oc‐1 & oc‐2 canoes owned by Kikaha members is growing. Relay style events allow those without a canoe to participate throughout the year.
