What is a regulated qualification?
Change
Active IQ offers a wide range of regulated qualifications which means they are officially recognised by key stakeholders, particularly government regulators (Ofqual and Qualifications Wales). Ofqual, the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation, is a non-ministerial government department that regulates qualifications, exams and tests in England and vocational qualifications in Northern Ireland; all regulated qualifications sit on its Register of Regulated Qualifications. All recognised awarding organisations that offer regulated qualifications undergo rigorous compliance checks via a series of audits, occasional thematic reviews (where specific elements of an awarding organisation’s function are scrutinised) and the submission of an annual statement to Ofqual and Qualifications Wales showing how they have complied with all regulatory Conditions of Recognition.
About Test Heading Active IQ
Active IQ offers vocational qualifications from Entry Level through to Level 5. Qualifications are described by level and size. Currently there are nine separate levels: Entry Level plus Levels 1-8 (these are aligned to the levels within the European Qualifications Framework), and whilst this could be a way of deciding the ‘difficulty’ of a particular qualification, each level has its own ‘descriptor’ that provides much more detail about the knowledge and skills required at that level, i.e. what learners should know and be able to do upon completion of that qualification. Active IQ qualifications are currently described as either an award, certificate or diploma and this is to give an indication of size. By the end of 2017, all qualifications will have been altered to reflect the Regulated Qualification Framework’s requirements to describe our qualifications in terms of Guided Learning Hours and Total Qualification Time rather than the current system of credit as a single unit of measurement in terms of time spent on the qualification. Total Qualification Time (TQT) is the number of notional hours or an estimate of the total amount of time that could reasonably be expected for a learner to achieve and demonstrate the level of attainment necessary to be awarded the qualification. Total Qualification Time is comprised of: (a) The number of hours which an awarding organisation has assigned to a qualification for Guided Learning, and (b) An estimate of the number of hours a learner is likely to spend in preparation, study or any other form of participation in education or training, including assessment, which takes place as directed by – but not under the immediate guidance or supervision of – a lecturer, supervisor, tutor or other appropriate provider of education or training. Guided Learning Hours (GLH) describe the learner’s activities that are taught or instructed by – or otherwise participating in education or training under the immediate guidance or supervision of – a lecturer, supervisor, tutor or other appropriate provider of education or training. Remember, it is not the size of qualification that indicates its difficulty, but the level. For further information regarding our regulated qualifications, please contact: info@activeiq.co.uk

End-point Assessment
Change
Active IQ is a registered End-point Assessment organisation (EPAO) and is pleased to be able to offer End-point Assessments for the following apprenticeship standards: Business Administrator, Community Activator Coach, Customer Service Practitioner, Leisure Duty Manager, Team Leader/Supervisor and Facilities Management Supervisor/Teaching Assistant.
What is an apprenticeship? An apprenticeship is a genuine job that includes training and has a number of embedded synoptic assessments and a skills development programme incorporated within it. Individuals undertaking an apprenticeship reap all the benefits of employment while they learn and gain valuable skills and knowledge in a specific job role whilst earning a wage. Employers are in the driving seat designing the apprenticeship training programme with the support of their preferred training provider to ensure that their apprentice can meet the demands of the job and pass their apprenticeship End-point Assessment.
The Gateway Once the employer/provider is satisfied the apprentice has completed their apprenticeship journey and developed all the knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSBs) outlined in the apprenticeship standard a formal meeting must be held to sign off the apprentice as ready to access their End-point Assessment. This meeting includes the apprentice, their line manager and the on-programme training provider. At this stage any Apprenticeship mandated qualifications, along with relevant English and maths qualifications must be achieved and passed before the apprentice can pass through the gateway onto their End-point Assessment.
End-point Assessment The final stage of an apprenticeship journey is the End-point Assessment. This is where the apprentice must show that they can perform the relevant occupation in a fully competent, synoptic and productive way meeting all of the KSBs specified within the Apprenticeship Assessment Plan. The assessment will be planned, delivered and graded by Active IQ’s team of occupationally expert assessors.
Resources Active IQ have developed high-quality and rigorous assessments for every level, plus wrap-around supporting resources for the entire apprenticeship journey. This includes resources to support on-programme training and assessment for both the apprentice themselves, and the training provider/employer, to ensure a rewarding experience, and the best possible preparation for a successful outcome of the EPA.
