Off the water Camping Each of the Centres has its own campsite with modern shower, wash-up and chemical disposal facilities. Some sites also offer electric hook-ups. There are discounted rates for Watersports Members’ Camping Season Tickets. They are all great family sites with other activities on offer for those not wanting to go on the water. They can also cater for groups wishing to enjoy an activity based holiday. Watering holes There are Cafés at Siblyback, Upper Tamar and Wimbleball with great views of the lakes. They serve tea, coffee, beverages, ice creams, cakes, sandwiches and light lunches. Stithians also has a coffee shop which sells a range of hot and cold beverages, icecreams, cakes, sandwiches and snacks, with indoor and outdoor seating.
The Lakeside Café at Roadford offers a wide range of meals, snacks, cream teas, cakes, icecreams, beverages and licensed drinks. You can sit on the terrace and make the most of the sunshine whilst enjoying the fabulous view across the largest of our lakes. Contact the Centres for opening times. If you’re camping or taking part in a group full day activity, packed lunches can be provided when booked in advance.
Facilities Each centre has modern changing facilities, toilets, showers and lockers. There are wetsuits and buoyancy aids in all sizes for visitors’ use.
Watersports Programme 2010 Welcome to the 2010 programme of activities for our five Outdoor + Active Centres around the South West. The main programme runs from 2 April - 27 September and provides a variety of activities for visitors aged 8 upwards. Other sessions will be arranged according to demand. Some of the activities are available all year, depending on weather conditions. Give us a call or drop in and we’ll make every effort to fit you in for the activities you wish to do. When you’ve chosen your activity, you can find locations, dates and prices in this leaflet. Then you can book online on swlakestrust.org.uk or phone, visit, or email the Centre of your choice.

The WAVES Junior Club gives youngsters the opportunity to learn to sail or windsurf in a fun and safe environment. There is also the opportunity to progress onto the Junior Dinghy Racing/race training and Team 15 Stithians Allstars junior windsurfing squad. Special Events & Activities Upper Tamar Lake offers fun for all the family, with pedalos, surf skis and Canadian Canoes for hire as well as dinghies and windsurfers. Chief Instructor Will Pepworth received the 2008 RYA Award for the young person making the most contribution to watersports in the South West. Launch Membership Membership runs from 1 April 2010 to 31 March 2011 and includes limited safety boat cover. Membership is valid for all five centres and members are entitled to reduced rates seasonal camping fee. Members also receive a 10% discount on courses and hire (except kids’ activities). Any questions? What is provided? Hire of wetsuits and buoyancy aids is included in tuition prices, or you may choose to bring your own. Do I need to be able to swim? You must be able to swim 25m unaided. Will I be able to get clean and dry before I travel home? Each of the Centres is equipped with modern changing facilities and showers. What if I can’t make the dates shown in the brochure for my chosen course? Contact the Centre, as additional dates are arranged throughout the season according to demand.
Can I stay overnight? There is camping on site and we have links with local B&Bs. What should I bring with me? A towel, swimming costume, shoes to get wet in, suncream and lunch. Please note that in the event of adverse weather conditions, it may be necessary to postpone or cancel sessions. If you have any queries or require any additional information on any of the sessions, please contact the Centre where you have booked.
Will the instruction be any good? All our watersports staff are trained in the relevant NGB disciplines and safety requirements. The centres are Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Training centres and Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA) approved. Do I need to be insured? Only if launching your own equipment.
