NORTH DEVON & EXMOOR
WALKING
festival
From 29th April to 7th May 2010
From 1st to 4th October 2010
The UK’s most scenic Walking Festival Sponsored and supported by:
www.exmoorwalkingfestival.co.uk
Welcome to the North Devon & Exmoor Walking Festival
This is our tenth and also our largest walking festival. The last few years has seen a massive growth in participants enjoying the walks. Beautiful scenery with our friendly and knowledgeable guides is what attracts people to this walking festival. Exmoor offers some challenging walks while North Devon can provide the less testing walks. The spectacular South West Coast Path always thrills and gets the heart going. We are also helping the North Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) celebrate their 50th anniversary. It covers the coastal strip from Combe Martin down to Welcombe on the Cornish border. We have some extra-special walks in that area for you.
Walks for food lovers Following the success of the walks that have included farmhouse lunches and cream teas, we have expanded on these to give more choice throughout the festival. Supporting local produce and business is important to this festival. Walkers generally love their food, so the two go together well. I hope you will enjoy taking part in these walks.
Special Festival Holidays Walk the South West Coast Path from Minehead to Combe Martin along the Exmoor coastline. For details and bookings call 01643 821425. Walk part of the Two Moors Way and Macmillan Way West across Exmoor. For details and bookings call 01643 831259.
Grades of Walks
Easy: Suitable for everyone, following defined paths. Usually under 7 miles.
I have also taken note of the request for car-free walks and so you will find a selection each day which are accessible by bus, train and Moor Rover minibuses on Exmoor.
Easy to moderate: Includes some ascents and descents on varying surfaces.
Why not try one of our special guided walking holidays taking in the South West Coast Path and part of the Two Moors Way with transport and everything included.
Moderate to strenuous: Physically testing ascents and descents, unsuitable for inexperienced walkers.
I am sure you will find something to suit your ability. Enjoy your walks and look forward to seeing you. Bryan Cath, Festival Coordinator www.exmoorwalkingfestival.co.uk
Moderate: Notable ascents and descents on varying surfaces.
Pace Please check the pace together with the grade of the walks. also at www.walkingnorthdevon.co.uk and www.walkingexmoor.co.uk
