Forme,TimRiceandAndrewLoydWebber'sEVITAwasthatshow Isawacommunitytheaterproductionof EVITAinMassachusettswhenIwasabout10yearsold Iremembersittngnthatdarktheaterandbeingsweptup inthemusicandnthestory WhieIdidn’tentirelycomprehendwhatwasunfoldinginfrontofme,Iremember understandingthatthisstorydeeplyaffectedpeoplewatchingit.Howcouldanaudiencebesoinvestednthestory ofawomanthattheydidn’tevenknow?Whywasthemanwhowassittinginfrontofmewipingawayatearasthe lightsfadedattheendoftheperformance?

ThroughoutmycareerasaworkingBroadwayactor,IhadhopedthatsomedayIwouldbeabetobeapartofan EVITAproduction IgotthatopportunityseverayearsagowhenIwascastasCheinaregionalproductionofthe show ItwasduringthsrehearsaperiodthatIrememberedandrediscoveredmypassionforthisstory

WhenKatieandIopenedACTofCTlastJune,wedecidedthatEVITAshouldbeapartofourfirstfullseason Our intimatetheateristheperfectvenueforthisshow WhiletradtonalEVITAproductonscanincludeacastofupto 35peope,Iwasnterestedintelingthisstorywithamuchsmaleractingcompany Ifwecouldcasttheright “storytellers”,thisshowcouldbeaseffectivewith16actorsasitswth35 Anddidweluckout!
