ItishardtobelievethatthedaythatKatieandIvisualizedjusttwoyearsagoisfinallyhere. “MammaMia!”isourinauguralproductioninourbrand-newspace,andwecouldnotbemore excitedthatyouareherewithustoday.Whatajourneyithasbeen!Fromcreatingthecompany (ACTofCT),tosecuringthemostremarkableboardmembers,toworkingwiththetowninorder tomoveintothisSchlumbergerproperty,toenlistingthehelpofthefinestarchitectsandtheater technicians,torenovatingthebuilding,tofundraisingandsponsorships…thelistgoeson(and on!!!).Istruggledwithwhichshowwouldbebesttoopenthetheater.Therearesomany amazingmusicalstochoosefrom,itwasveryhardtodecide.DuringmyweeklywalkonMain Street,ormyweekendtriptoStop&Shop,ormyrunningintoCVS,Iwouldaskpeople,“whatis yourfavoritemusical?”. And,whileRidgefieldseemstohaveVERYsophisticatedtaste,the majorityofpeoplethatIasked(sometimesembarrassedtoadmit)answeredwith“MammaMia!”. Ihavebeenapartof“MammaMia!”sincetheoriginalBroadwayproduction.ItisashowthatI performedinfrom2000–2003,anditwasamagicalshowtobeapartof.Ibelievethat (especiallyintoday’sclimate)everyonecoulduseanescapetoalittleGreekIslandwiththesongs ofABBAjustmakingyoufeelgood.“MammaMia!”neverfailstobringasmiletoyourface.And whatacastwehaveassembled!Thisisbyfarthebest“MammaMia!”companythatIhave workedwithtodate Notonlygreatactors,fantasticsingersanddancers–butwonderfulpeople Thebuildinghasbeenaconstructionzone(literally)upuntilJune3.Itcertainlywas“challenging” tryingtorehearse‘TheWinnerTakesItAll’withthesoundofbulldozersoutsidethewindow.Or tryingtostage‘Money,Money,Money’withtheseats(thatyouaresittingin)beinginstalledand securedtothefloor(yes,ourseatsarrivedthreedaysbeforeopeningnight).Orchoreographing ‘Waterloo’withthefaintsmellofpaintfumeswaftingby.DidIeverhearonecomplaintfromthis cast?No Theywereallprofessional,excited,supportive,andgame Andwecouldnotbemore gratefultothisveryfirstcompanyofactors,musicians,andtechnicians.
