When deciding which shows we will produce and present each year at ACT of CT, it is important for me to make sure that there is something in the season for everyone. That’s not always an easy task since some of us gravitate towards classic musical comedy, others prefer the pop-opera genre, and others favor a more contemporary musical theater style. So, when selecting this season of shows (our 5th season!!!), I put a great deal of careful thought into which titles would be included. GUYS AND DOLLS was the perfect show to begin our 5th season. It is one of those shows that made me fall in love with musicals in the first place: musical theater perfection! I also knew that I wanted to close our 5th season with one of my all-time favorite musicals, THE SECRET GARDEN. That show is going to be the perfect spring production and will leave audiences feeling warm-hearted, inspired, and primed for a terrific summer.
But what to choose for our winter production? Perhaps something elegant, romantic, sweeping, and sophisticated? Maybe something complex, intellectual, deep, and profound?
No way! Give me 80’s rock n’ roll, an over-the-top love story, racy jokes, tight pants, big hair, and shameless camp – I’m all in! Every now and then we all just need a show like ROCK OF AGES on stage. I saw ROCK OF AGES on Broadway in 2009 and was fully prepared to not really “love” it (I will admit, this type of show wasn’t really my “thing”). However, by the end of the show I was on my feet, ear to ear smile, totally invested in the characters, the story, and the music; it was quite possibly the most fun that I ever had in a theatre. At its core, ROCK OF AGES has a ton of heart and is pure fun, and I am excited to share that fun with our audiences. Like all our productions here at ACT of CT, I am proud to be able to present this show to you, and we thank you for your support of our theater.
Now sit back, relax, and GET READY TO ROCK!

STAGE DIRECTORS AND CHOREOGRAPHERS SOCIETY (SDC) is the theatrical union that unites, empowers, and protects professional Stage Directors and Choreographers throughout the United States. Its mission is to foster a national community of professional stage directors and choreographers by protecting the rights, health and livelihoods of all its Members; negotiating and enforcing employment agreements across a range of jurisdictions; facilitating the exchange of ideas, information and opportunities; and educating current and future generations about the critical role of directors and choreographers in leading the field.
ACT (A CONTEMPORARY THEATRE) OF CONNECTICUT is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) professional theatre located in Ridgefield, CT.
Founded in 2018 by Katie Diamond, Daniel C. Levine and Bryan Perri, and along with
the more recent addition of R. Erin Craig, ACT of CT presents limited engagement runs of well-known musicals, as well as world-premiere productions by the next generation of writers and composers. In addition to fully produced mainstage productions, ACT of CT’s programing also includes a New Works Series, a Broadway Unplugged Series, and an extensive theater education program. With its 182 seats and turntable stage, the theater offers an intimate, unique, and immersive theatrical experience for its patrons. Given the proximity to New York City, ACT of CT has access to top theatre talent and professionals. In just four seasons, ACT of CT has become one of the most well-known and highly respected regional theatres in the area and received a Grammy nomination for Best Musical Theater Album for the cast album of their 2021 production of Stephen Schwartz’s Snapshots. ACT of CT is dedicated to inspiring, creating and nurturing a culturally diverse and equitable environment for its staff, creative teams, cast, musicians, crew members and audiences, and is committed to achieving a diverse workforce and to maintain an inclusive, discrimination-free environment.

RIDGEFIELD - Proud to be designated as Connecticut’s First Cultural District
REDDING - Dubbed “the Vermont of Connecticut”
Approximately One Hour to Manhattan
When Jim Steinman passed in April of 2021, he left behind not only his incomparable body of musical and theatrical works, but also his beloved home in Ridgefield, CT where he lived for nearly 30 years It was from this home that Jim collaborated with world acclaimed musicians and artists, composing on the very piano that is included in this once in a lifetime sale of Jim’s home and curated collections which have been left in situ Jim commissioned prestigious New England architect, Rob Bramhall, to design his home and spent over $6M in the construction alone The one of a kind art and collections included with the sale are truly priceless (inquire for Art Catalogue) The sum total of the individual components in this offering is believed to far exceed the list price, but the intention is to honor Jim’s legacy by keeping his sanctuary intact

We REDISCOVERED what it means to be “On Broadway” and dance at SMOKEY JOE’S CAFÉ.
We UNPLUGGED from distractions of the real world and our “Poor Unfortunate Souls” were revitalized when sung by Heidi Blickenstaff, We REMINDED OURSELVES about the power of forgiveness through the groundbreaking performance of “You Were The First” at NICKEL MINES, We REIMAGINED a classic with Daniel C. Levine in JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR and asked ourselves “I Don’t Know How to Love Him” even more,
We FELT “You Oughta Know” just how PLUGGED-IN ACT is with the Tony Award-Winning brilliance of Lauren Patten, and
We WELCOMED “Seasons of Love” to inspire and captivate us as RENT dazzled in the spring!
Cheers to the upcoming season and THANK YOU to the entire ACT Team!
