A Note from the Artistic Director It took a lot to get here, but it is my honor and pleasure to say, “Welcome to our fourth season at ACT of CT!”

As we all know, the past nineteen months have been incredibly challenging for

everyone, and for theater arts it has been devastating. All of us at ACT of CT have

worked extremely hard to keep theater alive and well in our community. We created innovative, unique and exciting theater during the past year and a half: our filmed

production of Stephen Schwartz’s SNAPSHOTS, our limited in-person and streaming

production of THE LAST FIVE YEARS, and our fabulous concert production of INTO THE WOODS. We are so grateful to now be able to reopen at full audience capacity for our

fourth season of shows, and we could not think of a more exciting, upbeat, celebratory production than SMOKEY JOE’S CAFE.

You may not think you are familiar with the writing team of Leiber & Stoller, but after today’s performance, you’ll know exactly who they are. This dynamic duo

essentially invented rock and roll! SMOKEY JOE’S CAFE is a celebration of their

unbelievable catalogue of songs (and just wait until you meet this stunning cast!!!) For many of you, today is your first time back in a theater, and we want to celebrate YOU

with this show. We thank you for returning to our theater, for your support, and for your appreciation of the work that we do here at ACT of CT. Welcome back.

Now...grab a seat at the table, take in the old neighborhood, and welcome to “the cafe”!

Daniel C. Levine
