It’s fun to stay at the...
The YMCA is a non-profit organization that encourages individuals to lead healthy, confident and secure lives. It focuses specifically on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. YMCA’s are usually very involved in the community. This campaign is geared toward active adults and children, but will also grab the attention of anyone who knows the “YMCA” song. The aim of this campaign is to encourage people to lead their healthy lives with the YMCA.
1. Viral video
The campaign will start with over a thousand people in a“YMCA” flash mob in a major U.S. city like Washington D.C., NYC or Chicago. The choreographed dancing will include anyone who wants to participate. The video will be posted on YouTube, tweeted, etc.
2. Invitation
Every YMCA will host a dance to the original video choreography. They will collaborate to involve major city officials as well as people from the community in their dance. The flash mob can take place anywhere unpredictable in each city: ideally somewhere with a lot of people. Those who participate get a month-long pass to their local Y to promote continued physical activity.
3. #YMCA=giveaways 4.The YMCA makes a comeback
When the audience takes part in the flash mob, works out at the YMCA or when they volunteer with the YMCA in their social responsibility efforts, the audience will post pictures and videos to Twitter, Vine and Instagram using the hashtag “YMCA.” Those who use the hashtag will be eligible for winning prizes every week such as supermarket, Academy/ Dick’s, Subway (etc.) giftcards.
We all know the Wobble and the Cupid Shuffle. The “YMCA” can make a comeback as an expected song to be played at weddings and middle school dances because everyone knows the dance move! Everyone will then associate the dance move with their local YMCA, remembering the values of the Y from their personal experiences.
