FROM the EDITOR

hy are we so scared of PUBLIC SPEAKING? The better question is, why are we afraid of the words we speak in front of people when we rarely give a second thought to the words we post online? The reality is simple: If your scared of “public speaking,” you probably don’t know what it is. If you think you are not “a good public speaker” you probably haven’t practiced. That said, put your fears aside. The reality is you shouldn’t know what public speaking is NOR what it entails. That’s why you’re reading this right now. Do yourself a favor, keep reading. In order to understand public speaking and begin practicing correctly you have to understand what this class entails. Most people do poorly in this class simply becuase they never take the time to understand the expectations. I will lay them out CLEARLY in this magazine in the most creative way that I can given the nature of a syllabus. The reality is although this “looks” and “reads” like a magazine, it is a BINDING CONTRACT. Treat it as one. Also, treat this class as more than just a means to end. Your life could be changed if you set aside your preconceived notions of what public speaking is as well as what you think is expected out of you.
