12 kwietnia o 11:08 I'm so excited that people are so enthusiastic and curious and already presented so much information about our country. Of course, the best way to know the country is to visit it and experience everything yourself, yet another way is to get the information first hand from somebody who lives there. We'll try to do our best to present our country and I hope that at least our neighbours will visit us in the nearest future. I'd like to start with the four different seasons that we have here and these are the photos from my camera - some personal observations...

12 kwietnia o 12:51 Last week, we've had a wonderful week with Vietnam and this week it's time to learning about Lithuanian! It's a strange country to me so I'm excited to talk about it! And these are something I've found about this country! In November, Baltic countries( include Lithuanian) have fascinating Winter festival. It's the combination of traditional festival, Christmas Market and Fireworks. In this big festival, there are Estonia Black Nights Film Festival at Tallinn; Latvia Martini Festival (a festival to say goodbye to the autumn); Lithuania All Saint' Day Festival (a celebration of all Christian saints, particularly those who have no special feast days of their own, in many Roman Catholic, Anglican and Protestant churches). Actually, I really want to go to Lithuania and enjoy their festival!

12 kwietnia o 18:55 Let me introduce you to our capital Vilnius. Political centre of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania from the 13th to the end of the 18th century, Vilnius has had a profound influence on the cultural and architectural development of much of eastern Europe. Despite invasions and partial destruction, it has preserved an impressive complex of Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and classical buildings as well as its medieval layout and natural setting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oGsR9rISec

13 kwietnia o 13:38 The most wonderful place to relax and run away from the noise of cities and troubles of life is our seaside resort - Neringa - the Curonian spit. Human habitation of this elongated sand dune peninsula, 98 km long and 0.4-4 km wide, dates back to prehistoric times. Throughout this period it has been threatened by the natural forces of wind and waves. Its survival to the present day has been made possible only as a result of ceaseless human efforts to combat the erosion of the Spit

13 kwietnia o 18:20 Good evening! As the lithuanian week began I would like to introduce you to the one of our traditional dishes – Cepelinai. Cepelinai or didžkukuliai is a popular dish in Lithuania. They are a type of dumpling made from grated and riced potatoes and usually stuffed with ground meat, although sometimes dry

cottage cheese (curd) or mushrooms are used instead. So named because their shape resembles that of a Zeppelin airship, cepelinai are typically around 10–20 cm long, although the size depends on where they are made: in the western countries of Lithuania cepelinai are made bigger than in the east. After boiling, the cepelinai are served with sour cream sauce and bacon or pork rinds. And the recipe is: (you can even cook them in your own way) • Divide the potatoes into 2 batches. Chop one batch into large chunks and boil for 15-20 mins until tender, then drain and mash. Finely grate the remaining potatoes using the smallest blade on a grater and tip into a large bowl lined with a clean tea towel. Bring the edges of the tea towel together and squeeze tightly to expel any liquid; keep 2 tbsp of this juice and discard the rest. In another large mixing bowl, add the reserved potato juice, the grated potato, mashed potato and half of the beaten egg. Beat everything together well, season, set aside to cool, then chill while you prepare the filling. • Mix together the shallot, pork mince, caraway seeds, garlic, remaining egg and some seasoning. • Mix 1 tbsp of flour into your potato mixture and divide into 8. Dust the work surface with flour and make sure there is flour on your hands too, as the mixture can be quite sticky. Lightly shape the potato dough into flat round patties, approximately 1cm thick. Put 1 heaped tsp of the pork filling in the middle of each patty, then gently pull the dough up and around to encase the pork and form a dumpling. Roll them in your hands to achieve the signature zeppelin shape. Repeat with the rest of the patties and filling. • Bring a large saucepan of water to a rolling boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer. Carefully lower in the dumplings, cover and simmer gently for 30 mins. Keep an eye on this - the water must not boil or the dumplings won't hold their shape. • Meanwhile, grill the bacon until crisp, then chop into very small pieces and set aside. To make the sauce, pour 100ml of boiling water over the dried porcini and leave to stand for 5 mins. In a saucepan, heat the butter and add the shallots, frying gently until they are soft and translucent. Add the chestnut mushrooms and cook for 5 mins more. When they are cooked, pour in 1 tbsp of the liquor from the porcini and discard the rest. Chop the porcini and add them to the pan. Fold in the crème fraîche, bring to a simmer, then season. • Put 2 dumplings on each plate and pour over the mushroom sauce. Sprinkle the dill and bacon pieces over just before serving with green veg and crusty bread to mop up the sauce. Bon appetite!

13 kwietnia o 18:06 Greetings everyone! Emotikon kiki Languages might be different but their meaning is one and the same. We always try to learn new languages but we never show an interest in knowing something about that language. So here i would like to tell you something about 'Lithuanian Language' ! Emotikon kiki The Lithuanian language (lietuvi킬 kalba) is the official state language of Lithuania and is recognized as one of the official languages of the European Union. There are about 2.96 million native Lithuanian speakers in Lithuania and about 0.2 million abroad. Lithuanian is a Baltic language, closely related to Latvian, although they are not mutually intelligible. It is written in an adapted version of the Roman script. Lithuanian is believed to be the linguistically most conservative living Indo-European tongue, retaining many features of Proto Indo-European.

12 kwietnia o 07:57 Hi everyone!!! So Vietnam week has passed and this week, we're looking at Lithuanian. Honestly, I've never heard of this country before so I'm looking forward to learning new things about it. And here are some information that I've found about Lithuanian cuisine. Lithuanian cuisine features products suited to the cool and moist northern climate of Lithuania: barley, potatoes, rye, beets, greens, berries, and mushrooms are locally grown, and dairy products are one of its specialties. Since it shares its climate and agricultural practices with Northern Europe, Lithuanian cuisine has much in common with its Baltic neighbors and, in general, northern countries. It also shares some traditions with Polish and Ukrainian that date back to the grand duchy times. Also, Hungarian, German, and Georgian cuisines as well as Ashkenazi cuisine. Nevertheless, it has its own distinguishing features, which were formed by a variety of influences during the country's long, difficult and interesting history. Despite the apparent richness of the cuisine, Lithuania has a very low prevalence of obesity. In fact, people living in Lithuanian are quite healthy!

16 kwietnia o 12:05 Hello everyone ! Different from the main part of Europe, Lithuanian cities are much more like cozy historic towns with old churches, cobblestone streets and delicious local food than major cities. Even Vilnius, the Lithuanian capital is home only to half a million people, so you will always feel peaceful and relax in Lithuania. The country is perfect for a holiday off the beaten track.

17 kwietnia o 14:24 The best time to visit Lithuania is in summer. And it is not only because we have the best weather then but because of the main festivals which take part in summer. One of them is Song Festivals. Lithuanian Song Celebration is an overall national cultural phenomenon and a continual purposeful creative process.

It’s tradition praises individual’s creative self-expression, vitality of the national culture, love for the homeland and solidarity of its people. The modern Song Festivals consist of three parts: the Day of Dance, the Afternoon of ethnographic and folk music groups, and the Day of Songs, which is the most spectacular of all. The Song Festivals are held every four years.

17 kwietnia o 08:25 SUMMER FESTIVAL OF LITHUANIA Musicians attend solely as a way to advance intellectually, artistically, and professionally; working closely together in a tight-knit community and nurturing atmosphere performing daily open rehearsals, live public concerts, and outreach events in the picturesque summer resort town of Lake George. The repertoire performed at the festival is selected from requests submitted by participating musicians. Each participant can be assured to have an active and rigorous rehearsal and performance schedule. As a performance and community based festival, LGMF bridges the gap between faculty and students. There are no teachers or students, private lessons, master classes or organized studios. Rather, a unique roster of distinguished artists and young musicians at the cusp of their professional careers collaborate together in chamber music ensembles, a full orchestral setting, and innovative outreach programs and cutting-edge concerts. Informal social gatherings from boat cruises to hiking trips where participants bond with colleagues of past and present are a major aspect of the atmosphere. All participants are expected to be an integral part of artist retreat community; assisting with meals and other community functions. Generally there are 60-70 musicians in residence, typically between ages 18-35.

18 kwietnia o 17:24 Hello everybody! Vilnius (in Lithuania), the baroque beauty of the Baltic, is a city of immense allure. It easily tops the country’s best-attraction bill, drawing tourists like moths to a flame with an easy, confident charm and a warm, golden glow that makes you wish for long midsummer evenings every day of the year.  The capital may be a long way north and east, but it’s quintessentially continental, with Europe’s largest baroque old town at its heart. Viewed from a hot air balloon, the skyline – pierced by countless Orthodox and Catholic church steeples – looks like a giant bed of nails. Adding to this heady mix is a combination of cobbled alleys, crumbling corners, majestic hilltop views, breakaway states and traditional artists’ workshops – all in a city so small you’d sometimes think it was a village.

16 kwietnia o 22:36 Hello everyone! Today I'm going to tell you about Klaipėda Emotikon wink Klaipėda is the third biggest city in Lithuania. Lithuania has just one port located in Klaipėda. It is one of the few ice-free ports in northernmost Europe. Smiltynė is a part of the Klaipeda port, there you can visit Sea Museum. Here you can see penguins, Baltic seals, North Sea lions, Baltic and tropical marine fish with sea fauna, Lithuanian maritime history exhibits, vintage and modern collection of anchors. The spectacular dolphin and sea lion shows are particularly fond of the museum visitors. Klaipėda so the city is one of the main Lithuanian economic centers and a very important transit knot. This city is well attended by visitors in summer not only during traditional festivals like the Sea Festival, an International Jazz festival, but in casual days too. Those festivals attracts crowds of people every year and that is a very significant economic improvement for the city. Klaipėda is unique for its Old Town which is an outstanding example of German architecture. In Old Town, you will find the oldest buildings of the city, dating back to the middle of the 18th century. Walking along the river Danė and near the bridge you will see the sailing vessel "Meridianas". "Meridianas" was built in 1948 in Finland and is now one of the most beautiful sights of Klaipėda. Today in this vessel the restaurant "Meridianas" is open to visitors. In addition to this, visitors are very welcome on an amber catching and gathering season when they are able to find their own peace of amber in the waves of Baltic sea guided by professionals. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5A1tWwqaOlo
