24TH AND 25TH MAY 2019 MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID 2-DAY WORKSHOP PRESENTER: Debbie Bloom, Accredited Mental Health First Aid Trainer A quarter of Australian workers reported experiencing high levels of stress in their current job, a major risk for depression and anxiety. A fifth of these workers say they will leave their employer in the next 12 months. Research has also found that one in five working Australians currently experience a mental health condition, with almost half reporting they experience some stigma related to mental health in their workplace. Experiences at work contribute to both our identity and wellbeing. It is crucial that employers and employees work collaboratively to take a preventative approach to achieving a mentally healthy workplace to support all workers to thrive, whether they are experiencing a mental health condition or not. The Mental Health First Aid Certificate is a requirement in many workplaces, recognising the need for appropriate responses to this prevalent health issue. This 2 day nationally accredited well recognised program will provide Mental Health awareness training using a range of different training interventions enabling participants to support their colleagues and provide initial help to a person who may be developing mental illness or experiencing a mental health crisis.
