Management of medical emergencies in your dental practice - know what to do BRIEF Using the Australian Resuscitation Council protocols, this comprehensive course covers both basic life support (BLS) of a collapsed patient and the management of an acutely unwell patient due to a range of serious and life threatening emergencies. This course is for healthcare professionals who need to know how to recognise and manage a variety of emergencies that can arise in the dental surgery. It also gives participants the knowledge they need to respond with assurance when required and provides additional skills required to manage emergencies in the dental surgery, such as the administration of drugs. The presenters have developed this course to meet the QIP Practice Accreditation Standards for emergency management training and teaches participants to be able to meet the QIP requirements for medical emergency preparedness. Resources in the form of protocols and flow charts will be used, which participants can keep after the workshop for reference.
