Dental Records & Aseptic Infection Control technique for practice staff Date: Venue:
Wednesday 7 March 2018, 2:00pm - 5:00pm ADAVB Meeting Rooms, Level 3, 10 Yarra Street, South Yarra
2.00pm Dental Records: “Keeping out of Trouble” So much of mounting a defence is good standards of records, which should be able to tell the story of the patient and their experiences/treatment, but in a professional way. The practitioner is not the only one responsible for keeping good records – many administrative details also make up the clinical record. This workshop will cover the essentials of record keeping for the practice: • Guidelines • Access and retention • Privacy and consent.
3.30pm Introduction to Aseptic infection control technique for practice staff
Dr Eryn Agnew, ADAVB Community Relations Manager Eryn is presently the Community Relations Manager and Professional Consultant for the ADAVB. With a 25 year background in both private and public practice, Eryn is familiar with the expected standards and competencies of dental practitioners, including record keeping, and this, together with her own experience of running a private practice has been key in developing practical advice for the day to day trials dental practices face. Eryn was also a recognised trainer in record keeping and informed consent for the Dental Practice Board of Victoria prior to taking on the role at the ADAVB.
Susan Hunter & Karon Ross Registered Nurses (Div 1&2)
Aseptic technique means using practices and procedures to prevent contamination from pathogens. It involves applying extra precautions to minimise risk of infection using measures in current standards and guidelines. Today Susan and Karon will share their expertise and will demonstrate the procedure for setting up, working within, and closing down the aseptic field.
Susan Hunter and Karon Ross both work for Southern Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. They have assisted Dr Brian McMillan and Dr Sunia Vudiniabola for over 15 years to ensure that an aseptic field is provided for all procedures in the practice.
