The master thesis outlines a design proposal for a new maritime science centre at the West Coast of Norway near Stavanger. As a science centre the aim is to attract new talent to the maritime sector in Norway, which has for long been standing in the shadow of the oil-industry.
To do so the centre seeks to further develop the concept of a science centre as a platform for knowledge by incorporating research and education on top of the exhibition. The aim is further strengthened by the placement of the building on the site, and working with the relation to the landscape in a New Nordic understanding of place and identity.
