LINCOLN  â€”  I  hope  everyone  had  a  wonderful  Thanksgiving  and  that  you  all  have  your  winter  or  studded  tires  on  your  cars  by  now. On  Saturday,  Nov.  30,  everyone  worked  very  hard  and  the  church  sanctuary  looks  beautiful.  Sunday  afternoon  was  the  annual  wreath  making  and  then  at  6:30  (or  so),  the  outside  Christmas  tree  lighting.  I  can  remember  one  year  in  particular  when  it  was  well  below  zero  and  none  of  us  were  interested  in  singing  more  than  one  carol.  Congratulations  to  Trent  and  Abby  Roleau  with  the  birth  of  Sophia  Jean  on  Nov.  2  and  to  Matt  and  Carolyn  Brown  who  welcomed  daughter  Hai-­ ley  Ramona  on  Nov.  14.  Congratula-­ tions  also  to  all  the  new  grandparents  and  great-­grandparents. County 4-H’er donates 3,000 cards to Vt. National Guards ADDISON  COUNTY  â€”  The  Cornwall  Musketeers  4-­H  club  set  a  goal  of  donating  3,000  cards  to  U.S.  soldiers,  and  MaKayla  Fos-­ ter,  president  of  the  club,  recently  announced  that  they  have  reached  their  goal. This  year  marked  the  third  con-­ secutive  year  the  Cornwall  4-­H’ers  have  participated  in  this  community  service  project.  After  seeing  the  re-­ sults  from  the  previous  years,  they  decided  to  do  it  again,  but  with  an  increased  goal,  in  an  attempt  to  reach  out  to  more  people.  In  2011,  1,015  cards  were  com-­ pleted,  and  2,032  cards  concluded  their  efforts  in  2012.  Once  again,  the  club  kicked  off  their  card  drive  at  Addison  County  Fair  and  Field  Days  this  past  August,  which  ac-­ counted  for  almost  half  of  their  goal.  â€œA  huge  thank  you  goes  out  to Â

FERRISBURGH  â€”  The  Ferrisburgh  students  at  our  area  schools  have  been  working  this  fall  preparing  for  the  upcoming  holiday  concerts.  This  is  a  lovely  opportunity  for  the  entire  community  to  support  and  enjoy  the  music  created  by  our  student  musicians.  The  Ferrisburgh  Central  School  choral  and  band  concert  is  Thursday,  Dec.  19,  at  7  p.m.  The  Vergennes  Union  High  School  instrumental  concert  is  Wednesday,  Dec.  11,  and  the  Vergennes  Union  Middle  School  concert  is  Thursday,  Dec.  12.  Both  concerts  begin  at  7  p.m. In  addition,  a  special  event  this  year  will  be  the  performance  of  Vivaldi’s  â€œGloriaâ€?  on  Thursday,  Dec.  5,  at  7  p.m.  at  VUHS.  The  performance  will  be  by  a  combined  chorus  with  singers  from  Vergennes  Union  High  School,  Middlebury  Union  High  School,  and  Mt.  Abraham  Union  High  School.  The  concert  will  begin  with  selec-­ tions  performed  by  each  school’s  small  ensembles.  The  Vivaldi  piece  will  be  performed  by  the  combined  choirs  of  about  160  singers.  VUHS  Choral  Director  Karen  Jordan  will  be  conducting  the  choir  and  orchestra  for  this  memorable  concert. vergennes-­high-­school-­board.  The  Ferrisburgh  Historical  Society  is  hosting  Ferrisburgh  resident  July  Chaves  who  will  present  an  illustrated  history  of  Mount  Philo.  This  event  will  be  held  on  Wednesday,  Dec.  11,  at  7  p.m.  at  the  Ferrisburgh  Town  Hall  and  Community  Center. “The  Secrets  of  Mt.  Philoâ€?  will  EH DERXW WKH PRXQWDLQ LQ ÂżUVW IHZ decades  of  the  20th  century  and  the  evidence  that  remains  in  the  park  from  that  time  period.  Judy  has  embarked  on  her  own  research  to  determine  the  route  of  the  entire  original  turn-­ of-­the-­century  Old  Carriage  Road  as  well  the  locations  of  similar-­era  gaze-­ bos  and  foot  trails.  Her  quest  proved  (and  continues  to  prove)  challenging  and  fascinating,  a  kind  of  treasure  hunt  involving  clues  provided  by  old  photos  and  maps,  tax  records,  news  articles,  legal  documents,  and  even  a  poem.
