Local  4-­H’ers  score  big  at  state  competition Mt.  Abe  honor  roll BURLINGTON  â€”  The  State  4-­H  Dairy  Judging  Contest,  June  24,  at-­ tracted  53  participants  including  22  in  the  senior  division  (ages  14  and  older)  who  competed  for  a  spot  on  the  Vermont  4-­H  dairy  judging  team. Vt.  State  troopers  contend  with  a  spate  of  motor  vehicle  accidents ADDISON  COUNTY  â€”  A  two-­ car  crash  on  Route  22A  in  Orwell  late  on  the  night  of  July  3  totaled  both  vehicles  and  sent  one  driver  to  the  hospital,  where  he  was  still  in  critical  condition  early  this  week. Vermont  State  Police  responded  to  a  report  of  the  crash  at  11:19  p.m.  last  Wednesday.  They  report  that  a  2003  Kia  Rio  driven  by  Christopher  Christian,  24,  of  Orwell  and  a  1999  Mitsubishi  Eclipse  driven  by  William  Lowell,  45,  of  Orwell  collided  without  providing  further  details.  Christian,  who  was  not  wearing  a  seatbelt,  was  taken  to  Fletcher  Allen  Health  Care;Íž  on  Tuesday  he  was  reported  to  be  in  critical  condition. Troopers  said  the  accident  was  being  investigated,  and  they  believed  alcohol  was  a  factor.  The  weather  was  described  as  cloudy  and  the  road  condition  as  damp. City  woman  cited  for  heroin  sell VERGENNES  â€”  Vergennes  police  on  July  1  cited  Toni  Marie  Bachand,  25,  of  Vergennes  for  sell-­ ing  heroin,  and  later  in  the  week  also  cited  her  for  a  criminal  count  of  driv-­ ing  with  a  suspended  license  and  for  violating  conditions  of  her  release. On  July  1,  city  police  allege  that  Bachand,  while  within  the  city  lim-­ its,  sold  three  single-­use  bags  of  heroin  to  an  informant.  That  con-­ trolled  buy  was  set  up  following  an  investigation,  said  Vergennes  Police  Chief  George  Merkel.  Bachand,  a  Second  Street  resident,  will  answer  the  charge  in  court  in  August.  On  July  5,  police  said  they  spotted  a  car  driven  by  Bachand  pull  into  a  Main  Street  parking  lot  and  cited  her  for  DLS  and  violating  conditions.
