Vermont  Sun  stages season’s  1st  triathlons SALISBURY  â€”  The  Vermont  Sun  Triathlon  Series  kicked  off  its  WK VHDVRQ RQ 6DWXUGD\ DW %UDQEXU\ State  park  in  Salisbury  with  a  pair  of  races  â€”  a  Vermont  Sun  Sprint  Tri-­ athlon  and  a  longer  Lake  Dunmore  Olympic  Triathlon.  Local  athletes  fared  well  in  each  event. The  sprint  consisted  of  a  600-­yard  swim  in  Lake  Dunmore,  followed  by  a  14-­mile  bike  ride  and  a  5-­kilometer  PLOH UXQ 7KH 2O\PSLF VZLP was  1,600  yards,  while  the  bike  ride  was  28  miles  and  the  run  a  10K. Sports BRIEFS Legion  baseball  opens  season  with  road  losses COLCHESTER  â€”  The  Addison  County  American  Legion  baseball  team  started  out  its  season  by  drop-­ ping  three  games  late  last  week  to  perennial  Northern  Division  con-­ tenders.  AC  had  also  been  set  to  play  two  games  at  Montpelier  on  Sunday,  but  bad  weather  forced  those  games  to  be  postponed.  A  new  date  was  not  immediately  announced.  AC  will  return  to  action  this  Thurs-­ GD\ ZLWK WKH ¿UVW RI WKUHH PRUH URDG JDPHV EHIRUH ¿QDOO\ KRVWLQJ D SDLU of  games  on  Sunday.  On  Thursday,  the  local  nine  will  play  one  game  DW )UDQNOLQ &RXQW\ DW S P 2Q Saturday,  AC  is  set  for  a  twin  bill  at  South  Burlington  starting  at  11  a.m.  2Q 6XQGD\ )UDQNOLQ &RXQW\ YLVLWV AC  for  its  home  opener;;  the  double-­ header  starts  at  11  a.m. This  past  week,  AC  opened  on  June  18  at  Colchester,  coming  up  VKRUW DV $DURQ 6PLWK WRRN WKH pitching  loss.  The  Cannons’  Cory  +HPLQJZD\ WRVVHG ¿YH LQQLQJV DQG allowed  one  hit  to  earn  the  win.  On  June  19,  defending  champion  (VVH[ GHIHDWHG $& LQ ¿YH LQ-­ nings.  Hunter  O’Connor  took  the  loss.  Dylan  Raymond  had  a  pair  of  hits  and  drove  in  two  runs,  and  Chris  Leach  doubled  home  a  run  for  AC.   On  Saturday,  Colchester  topped  AC,  6-­1,  as  Raymond  started  on  the  mound  and  was  charged  with  the  pitching  loss  for  AC.
