By  ANDY  KIRKALDY BRISTOL  â€”  Mount  Abraham  Union  High  School  Co-­Athletic  Di-­ rector  Jeff  Stetson  announced  on  Tuesday  that  Mount  Abe  has  not  appointed  a  new  head  coach  for  the  school’s  cooperative  football  pro-­ gram  with  Vergennes  after  the  resig-­ nation  of  its  head  coach,  but  that  one  of  the  team’s  four  assistants  would  serve  as  a  spokesperson  for  the  pro-­ gram.  In  a  Wednesday  email  addressed  to  the  Addison  Independent  and  Bur-­ lington  Free  Press,  Stetson  wrote,  â€œThe  football  program  coaching  du-­ ties  will  be  shared  by  the  staff  of  Lee  Hodsden,  Mike  Crane,  Eric  Hartman  and  Matt  Senecal  for  the  remainder  of  this  season.  Lee  Hodsden  will  be Â

Coach  Ernie  Senecal  resigned  af-­ ter  15  years  with  the  program,  effec-­ tive  Oct.  10,  for  what  Senecal  and  Stetson  both  called  personal  reasons.  In  a  Sunday  interview  with  the  In-­ dependent,  Senecal  acknowledged  there  had  been  complaints  about  his  leadership  this  season  and  some  treatment  of  athletes,  but  said  they  were  unfounded.  However,  Senecal  said,  the  stress  of  dealing  with  the  DOOHJDWLRQV DQG RII ÂżHOG LVVXHV WULJ-­ gered  his  decision  to  step  down. The  Eagles  are  4-­3  heading  into  a  Saturday  game  at  Poultney  and  will  earn  a  berth  in  the  eight-­team  Divi-­ sion  III  postseason,  but  almost  cer-­ tainly  not,  as  was  the  case  in  2012  and  2013,  a  home  playoff  game. By  ANDY  KIRKALDY ADDISON  COUNTY  â€”  In  high  school  soccer  action  earlier  this  week,  the  Mount  Abraham  and  Otter  Valley  boys  and  Vergennes  girls  all  lost  close  contests.  The  Mount  Abraham  and  Middle-­ bury  boys  also  were  set  to  face  each  other  on  Wednesday  after  the  dead-­ line  for  this  edition  of  the  Inde-­ pendent,  while  the  VUHS  boys  were  scheduled  to  travel  to  Missisquoi  and  the  OV  girls  to  host  Burr  &  Burton  at  the  same  time. Teams  are  in  the  ¿QDO ZHHN RI WKH regular  season.  The  Vermont  Principals’  Association  will  re-­ lease  boys’  and  girls’  soccer  playoff  pairings  on  Monday.  The  MUHS  and  Mount  Abe  girls,  who  played  on  Tuesday  (see  story,  above),  will  host  playoff  games,  and  the  VUHS  boys  are  also  in  the  running  for  a  top-­eight  seed.  EAGLE  BOYS  On  Monday,  visiting  Green  Moun-­ tain  Valley  edged  the  Eagles,  1-­0,  in  a  rematch  of  the  2013  Division  ,, ÂżQDO 7KH *XPELHVÂś 'DYLG )ULVN scored  three  seconds  before  halftime Â

OV  BOYS On  Oct.  10,  visiting  Green  Moun-­ tain  Union  edged  the  Otter  boys,  4-­3,  on  OV’s  senior  day.  GMU  took  a  3-­0  halftime  lead  before  OV  rallied  behind  goals  from  seniors  Ben  Lones  and  Connor  Gallipo  and  fresh-­ man  Josh  Letour-­ neau.  On  Tuesday,  host  Stratton  topped  the  Otters,  2-­1,  despite  another  Letourneau  score  and  what  OV  athletic  director  Steve  Keith  called  a  strong  effort  from  OV  goalie  Colin  Nicklaw.  The  Otters  fell  to  2-­9-­2.  VUHS  GIRLS On  Tuesday,  host  Missisquoi  blanked  the  Commodores,  2-­0.  The  VUHS  girls  dropped  to  3-­10  head-­ LQJ LQWR WKHLU ÂżQDO UHJXODU VHDVRQ game:  They  host  the  Tigers  on  Sat-­ urday  at  2  p.m.  VUHS  goalie  K.C.  Ambrose VWRSSHG ÂżYH VKRWV ZKLOH MVU’s  Jenna  Bourdeau  made  three  saves.
