Welcome to the 25th annual NORTH STAR CLASSIC

HELLO CATTLEMEN & WOMEN!

Welcome back to the North Star Classic for our 25th year here at the ND Winter Show Event Center. We are once again so excited to have you all in the barns and are looking forward to our 25th anniversary being a huge success!

I am in my 4th season here at the ND Winter Show Event Center. It’s been an eventful 4 years, and am excited to see what the future holds for the Winter Show Event Center.

Mother Nature was much kinder to us for the 87th annual North Dakota Winter Show this past March. We had fair weather with record number crowds for the show and events in the arena. We can only hope that 2025 treats us as well. The 25 show is scheduled for March 5 – 9th, with the concert being held on March 1 st . We hope to see many of you there.

As we head into North Star Classic this year, Kelcey Hoffmann & Jaci Cargo are back with us as the Event Coordinators. As always, these ladies, their families and crew of workers, have put in tons of time and effort planning this year’s Classic for you all to enjoy. I would like to personally thank the businesses, cattlemen & ranches that sponsored, advertised, and donated. There are some great packages available to purchase during the Cattleman’s Ball & Sale, get your bidding hands ready! This event could not happen without your support.

This will be a great weekend for our cattle and ag industry. I hope you all enjoy seeing old & new friends, do some shopping with our vendors and enjoy the various breed shows & sales. I hope you enjoy the Classic, making new memories and reliving past ones! We are so happy to have the barn filled with cattle and to have you all participating!

Thanks Again & See You Soon,

Brandee D. Moore General Manager, ND Winter Show

GREETINGS!

With great pride, we invite you to the 2024 North Star Classic! For 25 years, we have opened the doors to the North Dakota Winter Show Event Center to host a premier cattle show. While some things have changed, and we have grown to what the event is today; we still uphold the traditions set forth by the original NSC livestock committee. This event is not just about the cattle; it’s about the connections we form and the memories we create together, bringing together those familiar faces and new friends alike. Many of us can share stories, memories, and relationships that have been created in this barn and continued for many years. While both of us have years of memories of the North Star Classic, we pride ourselves on continuing these traditions for the next generation.

Cattle from across North Dakota and surrounding states will begin arriving on Wednesday afternoon in anticipation for the Open Show to kick off the weekend of events on Friday. December 6th. Friday evening, we will host an Honoree Social to welcome previous Livestock Honorees and their families back to the event and wrap up the evening with the Cattlemen’s Ball & Sale in the South Exhibit Building. Enjoy a Prime Rib Dinner, raffle drawing, honoring our Livestock Honoree, Kevin Christensen’s accomplishments, and fellowship. The Cattlemen’s Ball Sale is once again filled with exceptional opportunities to acquire embryos, flushing opportunities, live lots, and unique packages designed to create lasting memories. We’re confident we’ve got something for everyone! On behalf of the Livestock Committee, we would like to thank our Cattlemen’s Ball consignors: Baumgarten Cattle Company, Hawkins Cattle, Twedt Red Angus, Hansen Sisters Show Stock & T-T Ranch, Bovagen, Custom Genetic Solutions, ABS Global & 605 Sires, Elston Beef, Bank Forward, Gerry Gernholtz, North Dakota Winter Show, Wild Wolff, and Life And Action Photography on their consignments. We would also like to thank those who donated packages and merchandise to make sure this is a don’t miss auction for anyone!

Saturday at the North Star Classic is a busy day for the youth featuring a Fitting Clinic, the Fairest of Them All show, and Showmanship events! There will also be an Open Pen Show and the North Star Classic All Breeds Cattle Sale, which is known for offering excellent youth projects that can become valuable additions to your herd. Rounding out the weekend on Sunday will be the Hubbard Feeds/Showrite Junior Breeding Heifer Show and the AgCountry Prospect Show!

Throughout the entire show, we welcome everyone to swing through the Farm Safety Room, shop the Vendor Show, and take in the history of the North Star Classic.

This event is a highlight of our year, and we are committed to making it an unforgettable weekend for you! We extend heartfelt gratitude to the exhibitors, sponsors, consignors, and the dedicated crews behind the scenes for their support over the years.

Cheers to Year 25!

Kelcey

Beya is stacked with a royal pedigree and continues to blossom as she matures. Flawless on the move and in overall design, super attractive, and breath taking from the side. Her balanced muscle structure and striking pattern combine to create an eye-catching presence both in the ring and in production. If you are familiar with the Hilbrands Cattle Company program, you know that her granddam “Behati” is a force to be reckoned with. Last year, her Unleashed daughter rattled off at $32,000 and with Relentless added to Beya’s pedigree, she has the potential to be impressive. Beya is broke and ready for a showman of any age but yet possesses the distinct look and poise suited for seasoned showmen.

DF Maria is an ET daughter from one of our front-end donors, BCC Trixie 513C. A maternal sib to DF Hector, who was Supreme Champion Bull at North Star back in 2022. Maria is quickly following in her mother’s tracks maturing into a high caliber female that has the length, stoutness, and mass to compete at a very high level in the show ring. Maria is also the result of our 1 st time mating Trixie to BR Belle Air and we think might be the best mating yet implementing the substance, phenotype, and attractive design that will really set her apart not only in the show ring but down the road as a mature cow. Picture and video of Maria 409M coming soon.

Lucy 1125 X

Lucy 1201 is the result of embryos we purchased from the Nord Family out of this very sale in December 2019. We purchased those eggs with the hopes of getting a heifer calf that could become a leading donor for our embryo program after seeing a couple of daughters of the 1125 donor do extremely well in the showring, including being named the Reserve Champion Owned Heifer at the National Junior Angus Show that previous July for the Stagemeyer family from Nebraska. By the time we got those eggs put in the following Spring, Nords Lucy 8022 had also been named Reserve Champion Angus Heifer at the National Western in Denver. The following Fall, Nords Lucy 9211 added to the 1125 legacy being the Reserve Supreme Female at the Aksarben Stock Show, Grand Champion Angus Heifer at the American Royal, and Reserve in her division in Louisville for Lynsey Schmitz. The 1125 daughters have won many accolades throughout the years and we are super excited to have our 2019 purchase from the Cattlemen’s Ball working as a donor for us. Her natural calves have both been bulls that have been at the top of their contemporary groups in performance. We reverse sort IVF’d her to the Dignity bull and the resulting pregnancies will be her first female offspring born and we are super excited for them. We are offering this pregnant Trans Ova recip to give anyone the opportunity to own a descendant of the 1125 cow and we think it is pretty neat to be able to sell offspring of eggs purchased out of this sale in the past!
